  1. you're a lucky man all the same. fair play to your mrs. Its not easy for 'em to put up with our z obsessions! seen one couple of years ago parked across the road from my parents house, the guy was on holidays, out polishing it and i have to say a handsome looking machine. good luck with it :duffer:
  2. strange, mines an import, does have that switch but i can still shift gear when engines off. also when i'm driving i've got to push it down if i want to shift it into first. As it was imported in 1998 could possibly mean its had the autobox taken out and replaced by either ..........1. an idiot who didn't put it back properly.........or.......2. a guy who wanted to stop himself ramming it into first from drive giving him a nice kickback in his seat, and ultimately wrecking his autobox :wack:
  3. very nice greg, as a matter of interest what did you do with your old ones?! in the bin or for sale?
  4. Hi I recently came across a book in a secondhand shop called "JAPANESE SUPERCARS". Written by a guy called terry Jackson in the early nineties , he covers all the cars that were brought out at that time including Mitsubishi gto, Mazda rx7, Lexus soarer, Honda NSX, Mazda MX5 (the supra had'nt arrived yet) and of course...the NISSAN 300zx He really covers every car indepth, with Colour photos , specifications, driving experience, how they were designed Etc. Although he tried his best to be Un-biased, the write-up on the Z was without doubt the favourite. "The first sentence i want to write about driving the 300zx is that it is a perfect , expensive, affordable sports car, now i Know that these three words-perfect,expensive and affordable -, dont normally go together, but on the 300zx they do" "first , lets look at why the adjective perfect applies to the 300zx. From just about any angle , its very hard to find fault with the zx. Its styling works so well that there is not a single element that's out of place, and the overall shape is very seductive. it turns heads wherever it goes, and thats a measure of perfection in any sports car" Thats just the start, little did he know nothing's changed 14 years later
  5. I stand corrected :x:
  6. sure i've spotted this on somebodies signature pic, but its below the lights.
  7. I feel a bit embarrassed for him. Probably cant wait to pull up alongside another Z, wink, and point behind....................
  8. Hi im not too sure why its not coming out of your demister, but the heater of the z has a mind of it's own. I'm told this is because of sensor readings around the driver from the roof to the floor determines where the fan blows. Mr. F gave me a detailed explanation of this before but i aint to hot at physics . Basically the car thinks it knows where to blow the air at you determined on temperature inside and outside of the car................as we all know it f*cking doesn't.........especially on a freezing morning :xxx:
  9. cheers greg, just finished the job tonight and you're right ,was pretty straightforward. Also fitted new stillen induction kit, but its pissing down now so I'll give her a good run tomorrow. And stick back you're old signiture pic, much nicer!
  10. ThankYou Chris just why i love this site ;)
  11. Well i'm so pissed off waiting for my garage to fit new front brake disks im going to do it myself tomorrow after work. bought them a few weeks back, they're EBS turbo grooved discs wiyh kevlar pads. As i have absolutely no experience in mechanics a good freind of mine who's fairly handy with cars has volunteerd to help. I'd appreciate some do's and dont's from anyone who's changed their discs themselves on the Z. cheers. :smash:
  12. what kind of bucks are they, and are they difficult to fit?
  13. well this pretty much anwers my original question, and i'd like to add i'm fast becoming a fan of the 350z, regardless of the different types of owners. I know for a fact anytime I pass any of the Z generation cars (which is extremely rare for me in ireland) ill still give a wave/nod of appreciation . At the end of the day we're all passionate about the Z badge, and have a bit of respect for past present and future
  14. or possibly your gearbox was replaced before by someone who botched up the wiring diagram. my Auto box changes very smoothly but does strange things sometimes. Theres evidence of it being tampered with , for some reason when you pull the lever back it stops at 2 and i can only put it into 1 if i push down the little orange switch in front of it. try giving Mike at mjp a ring, he might point you in the right direction.
  15. yeah, Millers have been recommended to me by mr F at mjp, an expert on all the Z's, he's found this to be the most used by enthusiasts.
  16. Yep , i agree with big kim on that, my last Z was silver , easier to keep clean but when you polish a red one it looks stunning..................for a few hours till you drive it down to the shop to buy fags, then it needs another wash, I must keep my local service station in business!
  17. cheers grant, Just wondering you must pass Mike Feeney Quite a bit in your area, top bloke and he's got a nice blue 350Z i believe
  18. drove the z around to the back garden , opened the doors and boot, put some Vangelis on the Ice , while repairing the bottom of the front bumper which recently had a row with a towrope.
  19. i should mention last year i went through a similar situation with an employee who was stealing. I sacked the guy but he tried to come back at me with letters about unfair dismissal, bullying, and all the rest. Myself and family went through a very unpleasent two months with threatening and upsetting letters. When push came to shove, he dissappeared without a trace and i learned then about his history. My Father never supported me on this, kept telling me i was wrong and should call him and sort it out  Thats why i think your very lucky in having a Close relationship with your dad.
  20. There you go then bud, take it handy , Everything will be fine.
  21. Guys guys..... this is not a tesostarone speed issue...............all i want is a bit of respect from one Z owner to another  Having said that if i come across him again, He'll Know exactly what a 300zx is , cos all he'll see is my new tail-lite conversion getting a lot smaller :duffer: but im sure he wont be telling his golfing buddies
  22. That unfortunately is the society we have nowadays, to easily put an innocent person through hell out of revenge. Your dad seems like a straight up guy, so dont worry too much, she's probably got a history of this type of thing and will show in court. I wish the very best for you and your family, tomorrow's another day. I also work in a family business, and if it was my father being accused I'd probably believe it because he's a complete A*sehole. Bottle of jack Daniels should do the trick for you, Friday!
  23. true. feel sorry for those guys. people who have no passion have nothing
  24. yep your right, i look like a complete muppett........
  25. Hi, Just wondering what kind of responce you guys recieve from 350z owners over there. I passed one yesterday in slow moving traffic, it was georgeous looking silver one, i gave him a discreet wave of acknowledgement but he completely dismissed me even though he saw me...Pr*ck was probably thinking "your only driving that cos you cant afford this". true in theory, but im still in love with the z32 .
