99 spec Clear rears - bulb info?
I'd stick with amber bulbs, i bought the silver coated ones but found them dangerously dim in daylight.

Blown turbo??
Hi does sound like coil problem, had similar symptom's last year with a Z i almost bought, got about 300 miles away , had a little race with a skyline on the motorway, drove it very hard, suddenly noticed something wasn't right, pulled in, idling very lumpy and the rest of the things you describe (cant say if it was smoking, it was 3 in the morning) , anyway drove back, got my money and old z back only to get a phonecall from the guy when i was almost home to tell me it was just a loose coil connection!! :headvswal But like you i was convinced it was a turbo problem.

super unleaded...major moan..
everything you say (almost) is true, but hey, things get you down now and then and i'm sick of living in a rip-off country, I visit the UK quite a few times a year and find it to have a better standard of living. AND....................way better road structure,......theres no point in outracing the cops if you have to f*ck up your shocks and suspension :D

super unleaded...major moan..
Hi Trev at the mo unleaded is around 96 cent a litre , and if you do the math , it works out a bit cheaper than what your paying, but doesn't compensate for the extortionate road tax. regarding the smoking ban, the law is being heavily imposed with heavy fines being given out even to rural areas where people thought it really wouldn't affect them. Smaller pubs are shutting down due to lost revenue, and , the people i feel most sorry for, old age pensioners, are finding themselves stuck at home because its just too cold to stand outside a pub. In fairness, a lot of publicans are making quite decent smoking areas outside with heaters and such, but it doesn't take away the humiliation of having to get up from the table like a leper and go outside. government propaganda keeps telling us what a roaring success it is and people are generally accepting it but its all shite. I believe something is being planned for the UK soon , but i'm sure it wont be as draconian as what has gone on here. cheers

super unleaded...major moan..
BP were taken over here by statoil around ten years ago and dont think they offer anything but 95. Incidentally shell do offer V-Power, 95 unleaded which is supposed to clean your engine, costs a fortune and wait for it ................ "developed in conjuntion with ferrari".......and......."adds a bit of ferrari to your engine" ...........oh just f*ck off shell :hurl: but cheers greg ill check out the octane boost option.

super unleaded...major moan..

super unleaded...major moan..
on advice about chipping from members here i decided to take a look at prices of super/optimax at various filling stations today, as i've been advised to use it when i upgrade the chip. But it turns out it's not available in Ireland anymore. Just 95 oct.. I'm getting so pissed off with this little "emerald Isle" they will gladly take the import duty, 1200 euro road tax , massive insurance and every other conceiveable thing to make owning a high-perfomance very expensive from me, and i don't complain, because if something makes you happy then you don't mind paying over the odds. But then i find i don't even have the option of maintaining it the way i want to because some arsehole up high decides "super unleaded? who'd want that? not me , i drive a family saloon, 95 octane is fine for me so f*ck everyone else" I'd actually like to go to the pub now and bore some poor guy with my whingeing, but i cant even do that because i'd have to stand outside in the pissing rain to smoke............   Proud to be Irish?........... proud me arse....

ECU upgrade

ECU upgrade
hi, just seen an upgrade for the ECU on ebay which gives extra 60bhp, and delimits. for 75 quid it seems good value but i'm wondering have any of you guys fitted this type of thing. the guy says he's a zx owner himself so quite possibly a member. If anyone has had this done i'd be interested in the long term effects it might have on the engine and gearbox, ...............sounds very tempting..................funny, i started with an n/a which was fast enough for me, but since i've got this tt the bloody thing keeps talking to me ("go on, make me even faster") sorry i dont have a link , havn't a clue how to do it!

weird exhaust smell
not sure if there still in, but i can tell you this. When i first bought the car, i had a mechanic give it the once over for signs of crash damage underneath. he gave it the all clear but we noticed that where the exhaust is bolted up into the turbo's, all the nuts were missing, it was basically hanging loose :( Is this where the cats should be?

weird exhaust smell
Hi, I had to leave the boot open today driving home from town because of an awkward load, and noticed a weird smell, almost like ammonia, coming from the exhaust , thought it was coming from somewhere in town until i was on the open road and noticed it everytime i put the foot down. Its a sports exhaust, dont know the make because it was on the car when i bought it. Any explanation? cheers

Ferrari Style Lights?
Hi, I've been thinking about getting these done over the last few weeks, and cant make up my mind. but yesterday myself and a workmate came back from lunch to find the z parked near to a skyline. He thinks ive gotta do it as he reckons the tail lights leave the z down and look dated. :nono: After a quick row over who drives back to work, i've decided no..........im leaving it the way it is.....I like the Unique look of the Z's ass. but everyone to their own!

front bumper replacement
Hi anyone replaced their stock front bumber with 99 spec themselves? if so is it serious job best left to the pro's, or is it just a lot of hidden screws and patience? recently had new wing fitted and its just drawn my attention to the old bumper which is fine apart from the very bottom, usual scrapes, and starting to look its age. :(

Just fitted these wheels. Ever heard of them?
wish there was a smiley for jealous!! exactly the ones i have in mind for my z in the near future. Ive noticed this type of alloy on a lot of the members cars and gotta say, they really complement the Z. arent they a lot like the ones on the old 70's ferrari 308/328 gtb.....or the 'magnum' ferrari as its better known. AND, you bought them on ebay  good luck to you bud!

WTF do we pay road tax for?
And precisely the reason i havnt changed to irish plates yet. did this with my last z and immediately had the law on my back. This time i'm going to leave it for a few months till i've got a few mechanical probs sorted. I cruise through checkpoints at the moment as they still think im on holidays, lol.

WTF do we pay road tax for?
As I understand you guys pay around £150 a year tax regardless of engine size (apologies if im incorrect) . But having driven in the UK a good few times over the last few years , I have to say you're road structure and quality is first class. My 15 mile drive to work every day is basically a minefield. I know all the potholes and avoid them, sometimes veering too close to cars coming in the other direction. Nothing changes here in Ireland, they fill a few now and then with stuff, but as soon as it rains they're big craters again. The sickener in this is that i have to pay 1200 euro (around £850) a year road tax for the privilage. :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal The Irish government have recieved billions from the E.U. for road restructuring, and done nothing to improve it. Sorry to hijack your thread Stevo but you've given me a chance to vent some frustration.
