stereo compartment solution
sorry , forgot to tell you you have to remove the stereo facia and drop it in from behind. small line of silicone around the edge to keep it in place. if you wire the l.e.d from your clock it will be lit up all the time while your driving. :smash:

Best place to get a stereo fitted?
hi if youve a problem filling the space where the cd player was i posted a thread earlier about this problem and you look like you might need it. must admit im jealous though, any import ive bought has had the original stereo ripped out and would like to have seen one working or not for nostalgic purposes!

stereo compartment solution
hi anyone need one of these? I made these for my last z which had nothing in the lower stereo compartment. Originally i set up the machine to make 20 or so in different forms as i didnt know how they'd turn out. I inserted one into the facia panel with an l.e.d. backlight and it looked pretty cool and not a bit tacky. My new Z has the BOSE logo which i want to keep original. So as they're no use to me now , anyone who sends me a padded envelope ( they are made from glass and resin) with their address inside can have one free!!

i'm new
Hi purpledragon, I also owned a 200sx for 2 years before i got a 300. I constantly worried about buying a 300zx for the running costs , repairs etc. Everyone told me i was mad at the time, my own father said "huh, it'll bankrupt you" . That hasn't been the case and recently a neighbour of mine got a 200sx and asked me to take it for a spin as he had modified it and wanted me to compare the two. I accepted and thought id really enjoy it for nostalgia reasons but .. boy, was i really let down. Please no offence to your car but it didnt compare at all in performance and just didnt give me the solid driving feel of the 300. Dont get me wrong, i,ve had problems over the years as i also did with my 200 but nothing to "bankrupt" me.......best of luck whatever you choose to do

Squeaky wipers.
This problem has been driving me mental for years, im glad someone has asked it. I Bought new blades just last week and went fine for a few days until i washed it in the local garage. then back to the usual squeak squeak. I wouldnt mind i sell glass for a living! But i think ive copped it. the so called "wax" they use in some jetwashes is silicone based and leaves a film on your windscreen which aint too bad if you wash your car once a month or so. but the residue it leaves if you wash it every week never leaves the windscreen. i could be wrong but im gonna try the washingup liquid anyway.

i'm new
Ill drink to that :duffer: Ive been caught out once, in buying my second Z from a dealer on the phone. I flew over to luton Airport bought it for 3500 drove it back to ireland and 3 months later it needed a new gearbox. I wasn't aware of this forum then but if i had i definitely would have paid an extra couple of grand to a member selling his car. I would have got honest no bulls*hit advice from enthusiasts, and thats the advantage you now have. Take your time and you'll find a nice clean car. Overall i think they are an extremely well built solid sportscar with a few niggly problems which every owner now Knows about , and a most are easily fixable at home yourself. If not there are several specialists in the Uk who are owners themselves and wont rip you off. Ive been driving them as my daily driver for the past 6 years, and find them in general very reliable considering most are 10-15 years old Final word the 300zx is the best value true sportscar you can buy today!

hi Andy just wondering if you got your problem sorted as seem to be having the same problem. Ive narrowed it down to the air flow sensor.

not drifting
yep think your right to find a good quiet open space and practice. but dont think there is any such thing as empty car parks anymore :( ............and if there is theyre locked up at night because of messers in their starlets and twincams. Its nice the way it gives you a scare now and then though, keeps the blood flowing

Rear speaker question
I'd agree with Willieo and run some new decent speaker cable straight from the speakers. Ive found its almost impossible to get a decent bass responce from the rear speaker housing so i just put ordinary sony's in there, and spent some money on a decent amp and sub for the boot.

not drifting

not drifting
hi, probably been asked many times but im finding the tt a bit of a beast pulling out of turns at speed a little tricky. foot down, short jerk on steering wheel is what im told. ill try anything not to be caught out in a full tail spin. Experts please  by the way im talking about normal traffic driving!!

Why OH Why Do We Do It ?
hi, you know the reason or you wouldn't have upped to the twin turbo. I drove n/a' s for years before i built up the courage and face the risks of owning a tt. It hasn't been trouble free but if im spending a couple of grand a year , for what the car cost me its way better than giving a bank a monthly repayment of 4-500 quid a month for ford f*****g mondeo which certainly wouldn't put a smile on my face :xxx: just tonight i came out of a petrol station after paying and found 4 or 5 guys looking at it and asking me what it was . After a bit of "oh its just a nissan" i pulled out of the garage with a nice tail spin watching their faces in the mirror. A work collegue recently bought a 1979 porshe 911, which he has told me it costs him 20 quid to drive to his local chinese takeaway (2 miles away) Honestly i could go on for the night about why you do it! Ive been in love with the 300zx since i first saw one, and that aint gonna change. please dont lose heart on your car. :)

signature pic
Hi Sorry , this is probably very simple but how do i put a decent sized picture beneath my signature when i post a thread. You guys have gorgeous looking zed's and i thought i'd put mine in so i'd be embarrassed into getting to your level!! I've a good idea about resizing photos but user cp is confusing me a bit.... and please no irish jokes!

Hi!
well lady luck was shining on me today! After running self diagnostic it gave error code 12 air flow meter. It was 100% correct as i found the air filter housing dangling from the cable. Previous owner had removed both air filters and and not put it back properly. Fixed it in a couple of minutes and my Z is roaring to life again :hyper: well the sun is out ,T-bars are off, life is good!!!!!!!!
