  1. looks great gaz :) great there was no-one around. Very hard to take a decent pic this time of year with the low sun, can be very harsh. I'm reading all these digi photography books at the moment , and learning some tricks. this time of year , set all auto functions off, flash off, in dusk with a long exposure, use a box or a tripod or whatever you can find. afterwards add some contrast when you download it. sorry for waffling on, I'm really getting into this photography thing!
  2. happy birthday fella
  3. a number of years ago, an advertisement in the papers kept showing the front half of a red tt stopped at the traffic lights in a large city. I think it was for some bank or something. It was a big advertising campaign, I even remember seeing it on a billboard somewhere. it was the 90's i'm pretty sure. anyone got a pic of it ? and i'm not imagining it either, at the time i dreamt of owning one and it was clearly a Z in the pic.
  4. cheers guys, starting to feel a lot better about it now!
  5. Cheers for the advice jeff, but which area do I work from? surely some of it has to be removed? i guess the unit itself is set deep behind the stereo facia. if this is possible without dash removal I would be a happy man.
  6. Hi Kev, great feeling behind the wheel I bet!Thing is you don't have to race this car all the time. Everytime you step into it it just feels right. You're bound to run into a few niggly problems but you're in good hands here! Enjoy :)
  7. Do I need to drain all the water first? aside from the obvious , are there any special tools needed? Dreading The thought of this job, :( but i know once I start it it will be OK. :smash:
  8. goto your rides section, add the photo you want to it, open the photo, right click ,scroll down and click properties, copy and paste the url address into your signature edit on user cp. I know the wizzes on here have faster ways , but that's the only way I know how .
  9. at this stage i'll wait for the new matrix Chris. Just gearing myself for the dash removal. looking forward to the job...not :D
  10.   ......ever taken pics of your Z from the air?
  11. It's only been a week but i'm looking out the window at her now, the moonlight is casting a beautiful light onto her bonnet. She calls to me....but it's not to be... It's the heater matrix you see, i can't see out of the FOOKING WINDOWS BECAUSE OF THIS OILY FOG  ........can't believe a heater can stop me enjoying my favourite thing...cruel :(
  12. 5 spoke 5 spoke 5 spoke 5 spoke 5 spoke.............sorry funkisi, I have been brainwashed :D
  13. Nissan Vanette cargovan (major boneshaker) or the mrs volvo V40 Which I love :)
  14. Looks very clean scott. Yes, a 16 year old car comes with no warranty. I've owned 3 of them and found them to be reliable everyday cars. There are some quirks you need to look for, but the search forum is your best freind. Best advice I can give you is this. SWB are considered more valuable because they are rarer, but you could still come across an abused car which looks clean but will give you problems very quickly. I'm not the most technically minded here so i can't give you tech advice. But i will say this. The nissan 300zx Z32 is one of the finest all round sports cars to come out of the 90's. it has Character, performance ,pedigree, looks to die for and properly maintained the best value for money out there. As legrath said, It's hard to spot the difference between a LWB and SWB till it's pointed out. Good luck on you're decision!
  15. Looks really nice yampiedog ,love the red,a job well worth doing :duffer: . i made a dogs arse out of my doors though and am sending them off to a pro to finish them properly. Have to do heater matrix next week so removing the interior is at least familiar now!
  16. Never knew you had a shorty gaz. Nice one!
  17. couple of years ago I wanted a nice clean fresh import n/a, auto or manual it didn't matter. While trailing through different ads on autotrader I phoned this guy called Lee . This was all done over the phone as I was flying over from Ireland. said he had a silver n/a minter, selling them for years and this was by far the cleanest 300 he had ever come across. really convincing, and I was very naive. I must have phoned him 10 times before i booked the flight just to ask him if there were any bad points about the car at all, no matter how small, because i would be out of pocket bigtime paying for the trip if anything wasn't the way he said . The night before the flight I called him and asked him to go out and check all the switches and interior bits were OK. he came back in and said there was no radio...that's it.."you won't be disappointed" Met him next day at luton Airport and at first glance she did look very clean. he wanted me to hand over the cash there and then but I asked him to take us to a quiet place(big mistake!) outside the airport, so i could check it over. Noisy autobox to start with. wiper switch missing. electric seat switches missing. steering wheel badge missing. Driver seat torn. The stereo facia was fooked, middle bar broken off, just a big gaping hole. When i pointed all this out to him he got quite aggressive, saying I had a cheek to run down his "mint" car. . At one stage he told me to **** off and that he was driving off and leaving me stranded there. Only thing I can say was the engine and bodywork seemed fine. So I bought it anyway for a reduced price, £3250, needless to say autobox went 6 months later. Felt very embarrassed for a long time, but taught me a hard lesson. The guy is based in Kent as far as I know, still dealing in 300's gto's and supras. Sorry for the long story but needed to get it off my chest! I don't know how these guys sleep at night.
  18. I use 500ml of MILLER OILS CVL octane booster everytime I fill up.Costs about £16 a litre. significant difference from just running 95ron (Rep.of Ireland now only uses 95 so i have no choice). Also a slight improvement in fuel consuption. The engine does seem to run better overall.
  19. I'm way out of my depth, but has the MAF been checked? I'm sure both garages would've checked it though. Strange one. Hope you get sorted.
  20. S14's improve with age. When they replaced the S13's I thought they were as bland as a bears arse. But time has been very kind to them. Values have shot up over here with the drifting thing .(deservedly). Love the rear end . very distinctive. Pity the interior is so drab. :(
  21. Just scrolled through the whole thread, Crap thing to happen. very sordid business indeed :(
  22. 50-100K rescue operation and at the other side of the world they are still shooting harpoons at them. mad mad world.
  23. Jesus, don't start about women and moods, just had a week of it  :D
  24. Yep, but so does the stillen one. for some reason they dont seem to fit tightly between the bonnet and bumper as the original one does.
  25. don't be put off, what the guys are saying is what you need to hear. If the car looks immaculate, but has some underlying problem you could easily miss, it will put you off z's for life. I'm sure there is a member here near you who could accompany you before you hand over the cash. have a good read of the link you were given and don't be afraid to ask us more questions before you buy. I bought my second Z from a dealer from kent. He wanted to sell me a different one from the one I wanted. It had a blown turbo. He told me this. "Changing a turbo isn't a big job. Underneath the car for an hour or so. I've bought the turbo but havn't got around to it because i'm so busy" LOL! welcome and hope everything works out. It will be the best motoring experience of your life :hyper:
