  1. cheers Alan, think that should be " ouch " been there done that :D
  2. I like them Alan, especially after seeing the pic of boldys car. Have to be 18's though as said. That price isn't too bad either.
  3. finished! thanks for the good advice Greg  . never want to hear those two words h***** m***** ever again. I did find putting the dash back together again harder than taking it out, even though i had every peice laid out on the floor with the appropriate screws/bolts beside it. the fiddliest fookin thing ever. If theres anyone out there like me, with little mechanical knowledge and skill DON'T DO IT YOURSELF :headvswal ........take it to one of the z specialists you have in the UK. Now , think I deserve a few cans of beer..and a fookin medal :duffer:
  4. :smash: I think a manual conversion and turbo replacement would be easier
  5. :headvswal should've mentioned i followed the aussie guide PK1 gave me,which shows how to do it without removing the dash but after a bit of confusion , decided to go the whole hog. This is without doubt the most f*cked ub job. If I'd known what was ahead i'd have stayed cold. Yes the matrix does slide out into the drivers side, but it's not a simple as that. the two copper pipes that go through the bulkhead have me stumped. i should now have easy access to them and the bitch of a screw which fixes them to the car. but I don't. I just have a mass of dangling wires, about 500 nuts bolts and screws, the whole floor of my workshop laid out with bits of interior which needs to be cleared up and put back in to the car by tomorrow night so i can work on monday.and i'm no closer to replacing the fuking thing :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal
  6. Spent the day removing the dash to replace the heater matrix. I know it can be done without removing it but I decided to remove everything so it would be easier. I'm sorry I ever started it. The main box which houses the matrix won't come out, I don't actually know what to do now . if anyone can look at the pic and advise me what do next, or pm me a phone number if they have done this job successfully with the whole dash removed i would be very grateful.i've given up for the night in pure frustration, tomorrows another day I guess. I'm just thick i reckon cheers.
  7. Cheers Alan! might hold you to that!
  8. cheers gaz, :) whatever "cav" and "irmchminger" badge means, i'm sure it's all good :D
  9. Shit that hurts, really hope some good luck comes along fella.
  10. oops sorry to attach pic! fixed!
  11. got this from Chris last week and put it on the other night. I now know why other cars i've seen it with have it on the metal below the rear lights and not the pvc. I love it in this position but don't think the adhesion will last. dot of superglue maybe but scared it will run down onto the plastic and burn it. stay or go??
  12. Ahem, I have to admit I love the middle interior pic. Not far off what we've got, that flowing ,almost enclosing cockpit for driver and passenger.very unique and still is. Not like that horrible selfish supra interior which angles toward the driver alone. I was discussing this with a freind this week about skylines. we both agree a superior car technically, looks OK, but the interior is drab. f you were "beamed" into a z without seeing the exterior you would just know you are in something special
  13. thanks be to holy jasus they were scrapped. the red one on the top right looks fairly close though
  14. Hi, that hits the nail on the head really! If you could do light servicing, various machanic stuff to pay the rent and electric on a small premises thats a great start. You mentioned you've been tinkling with cars for 20 years. don't waste that experience. I have to agree with stellaz that working for weeks on the same car is just not financially viable unless you have a nice stash in the bank to support you. I'm going through a similar experience now, I've just finished my first week as a self employed man and I feel happier than i've ever felt in the last ten years. Took me a while to take the plunge, and worked 12 hours a day for the last 7 days but feel fantastic. Still shitting myself about getting the bank to balance up but my mind seems to be working better and fresher. If you put the same conviction into a business as you did you're engine swap you won't go wrong my friend!
  15. vangelis, Kate bush, Pink floyd, ennio morricone, Mike Oldfeild, .....and more vangelis
  16. shit luck speedemon. Pk's idea is great. Never been clamped, but if I ever do , no-one will hold me back from the ***** , no matter how big and tough looking they are with their little willies. The companies who operate, and the people who take the job are the lowest lifeforms on the planet. they deserve horrible things to happen to them.
  17. what a great thread. the only time I've read every reply to see if anyone wants to meet me :D Cheers stella! :duffer: :duffer: :duffer: .......and the rest of you, love to meet you all for a few scoops. The only people i've met so far are.. Viniboy Yami Mr.F Steve Burns
  18. love the smooth look dave, but can't wait to see the 99 spec rear and spoiler , especially with that colour, very nice red
  19. Ok, If any pro's are viewing you can tell me where to go! By changing an angle by a few degrees, or just taking time to view the setting, you can make professional looking photographs of your car.(i've still yet to do it but some day i will get lucky!) here's how. Firstly a 4-6 megapixel camera is fine, i've had sony, HP and now Nikon. I find the HP software easiest to use and still use it with the Nikon. 1. when you're car is nicely polished up, take it somewhere for the day, just with photo's in mind. If you're lucky to live somewhere scenic then that's even better. 2. remember, the plainer the background, the stronger you're Z will look. unbroken horizons such as sea and sand (as in hellraisers pic) , riverbanks, deserted roads, etc. Or use a old mansion with a gravel drive if you know any rich people! 3. If you're alone, ignore people staring at you getting out of you're car with camera in hand. it's none of their business what you are doing. 4. Ok, Lighting. the tricky bit. After taking umpteen disastrous attempts with digital camera settings, I find going to manual mode gives best results. Anyone will tell you dusk or dawn are the best lighting conditions. So cloudy days are Ideal. If you can borrow a tripod, great, if not bring something you can sit you're camera on that will keep it very steady. Turn off the flash, and all other settings.Set you're exposure to +3 or more. The more exposure, the more light left in. If there is a lot of brightness such as sand or snow reduce it slightly till you find the best result. 5. Angles. one thing i've found out about this car is the slightest change in you're camera angle can make a huge difference. 3/4 rear is my favourite . As an example if this is what you are shooting, take 10 or more photos from this angle at 2" height changes, and don't delete any of them. If it's the front side or back the same applies. Most cameras with a memory card will store up to 80 high res pics so don't be mean. 6. just remember, the most unlikely or unusual settings can produce great photos, so use an open mind and don't be afraid to stop and jump out at something that catches you're eye. use plenty of different angles. for every 100 pics you take only a couple will be worth keeping, but thats the great thing about digital photography. lighting is the key. i have f8cked up many a photo by rushing it . 7. editing. By adding some contrast and dropping the brightness, another huge difference is made. Very subtle, but really makes your subject stand out. happy snapping :)
  20. might post up a how to on taking z pics, got about 300 pics of mine on my pc :o Experience, that's what i call it!
  21. handy to know PK, I bought an rx425 last month, was going to buy one of those home kits but even the guy at pc world told me not to as the cartridge will still tell the pc its empty. how much for the 4 refills?
