  1. I'm not asking for advice on exhausts, can't afford to do anything about it right now and the whole system is in perfect condition, although a bit of a universal DIY jigsaw. It's more of a general rant. lol The general loudness is becoming annoying, I mean its REALLY loud! It's almost like there is no exhaust attached. Its de-catted, though there are some DIY pre-silencers to the rear, but I think these are straight though pipes. At the rear I have two (what I think are universal) back boxes with huge outlets. They look nice, real nice, though massive you can get your fist in there. Flooring it on a motorway sounds beastly, and I like the burble I sometimes hear on slowing down. Driving around normal roads is the problem. I mean people hear me coming way before they can see me! First gear is the loudest, then second at about 2000 revs. Maybe I'm getting old. I haven't let anyone else drive my Zed, so not sure how loud it is when driving, but I'm told its quieter in the car than out when driving. I'd like to get a video up, but is it just me, am I just an old man now?! I'm 32!!
  2. Cheers everyone, decided to put them on the front in the end! :)
  3. Cheers! :) I suppose I can see them either way...so may as well put them on the rear, it will look better.
  4. Got it, its a wear indicator. Going to put them on the front of the disc so I can see them.
  5. Hey, Currently putting new front pads in and noticed two of the pads have spring clip things on them, can anyone tell me if these go on the rear of the disc or the front. They seem pretty pointless they do, guess theyre there for a reason. Cheers!
  6. I also have electrical problems which I'm putting down to the same thing but yet to pull the fuse box out. I have no interior lights, opening the passenger door turns off the clock, the clock comes back on when the door is closed... The door ajar light comes on and off randomly, sometimes really faint as if a poor connection (water) is being made. The alarm doesn't know what to make of it all! I really need to fix this soon, but its been so cold, dark and wet.
  7. Thanks!, JeffTT is checking his used stock and the local auto place is trying to track one down too but right now he's having enough trouble identifying the car! I was surprised that he estimated the price at £70 but this was based on the Z31. I might get back to you depending on what happens...
  8. Cheers all, I've sent a PM to JeffTT. In the meantime, these are pics of my pending disc job... Near side - Off side -
  9. LOL Thanks, is he a trader? Any idea of the cost?
  10. Hi, Can anyone suggest the best place to get a new (or a good used, or refurb even) front off side brake caliper. I'm after a turbo cast iron one. Went to put new discs on today, turns out I have one NA 26mm aluminium caliper and one newer turbo 30mm cast iron caliper! I'm not looking to get one and refurbish seals etc, as I need to get my Zed back on the road asap. Just want to replace it. The local auto places couldn't help me until Monday as their suppliers aren't open at the weekend. The guy estimated £125 ish for a new one. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, as my Zed is sitting on jacks all alone in the dark without me.
  11. Thanks, but it definitely isn't an electrical problem, the seat is trying to move, making clicking and crunhing noises and does move slightly, but then drops again, this happens at both sides of the base, at the rear. I think maybe I'm going to have to get the chair out and have a look.
  12. Hey, I've recently broken my drivers seat up and down function.....might have asked it to lift too much weight. Pressing the rear knob left (to go up) results in horrible clicking, the seat tries to climb, but whatever gears lift it have broken. It will lift if I'm not sitting on it, with only the occasional gear clicking noise. Anyone know if this is repairable? I don't think the base of the seat is flat right now, maybe tilted slightly and perhaps giving me back pain! Or I'm just getting old. :wheelchair:
  13. Are you expecting something horrible to happen?!! :D lol
  14. Cheers, Yeah...I was checking prices elsewhere and wondered why the price was double...then it clicked!! lol Almost ordered one disc.
  15. Ok, measured my discs today and they are 30mm / 280mm. One was obviously changed with the replaced calliper, the other side hasn't been touched and is an old disc. Neither look warped at all, but I suppose a slight variation, one I cant see or feel, could cause judder at speed. I've had rust and muck between the hub and disc cause juddering before, so could be that. Suspension looks fine, nothing dodgy there. I'm going to get these - http://www.zcentre.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.pbv.tpl&product_id=17&category_id=2&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=7 ...but it says N/A from 94 ? I have a 92, but if the disc size matches it will be ok right?
  16. Maybe everyone else knows but how'd your Zed get so wet?
  17. My sprog is 12 years old...so unlikely and perhaps against some law maybe... lol
  18. I have a squeal, but it doesn't seem to be a belt. In the car it sounds like its behind the dashboard, when I first bought the car I thought it was the heater fan, but it isn't. Under the bonnet, it seems to be coming from top left corner of the engine (as looking at the engine), I had considered the alternator belt, but it really does sound as if its coming from the back of the engine bay, master clutch cylinder area, or below... Its more noticeable at idle and slow driving, but my exhaust is so loud when driving normally I can't hear if its happening then, don't think it is though. The squeal doesn't get louder, always the same. Weird....
  19. My dad bought me a 'I love my 300zx' t shirt for my birthday, came with a momam. I'm just not sure what to do with the T shirt. I went shopping wearing it once, I felt wrong.
  20. Might go get one, is it only available on Sunday? OR from Sunday?
  21. LOL...made no real difference....50 miles again, always 50 miles....
  22. I'm thinking about doing this, but getting rid of rust, attaching the spoiler and filling myself....then getting the spray done professionally. So would expect it to be £80 - £100 as they're only masking and spraying... The other option I'm considering is to attach the spoiler skin already painted and not bothing filling it / smoothing it in. If I decide it looks bad I can fill it later. Right now I just want to cover up the mess that ruins the look of my car.
  23. Oh, thanks! Well, that settles that then!
  24. That exact one?! Yeah, wasn't great. The original steering wheel was horrible, huge and thin. No servo for the brakes....
