  10. it could be that you used used 1200 grit on the basecoat that it is giving you shine issues normally you would spray the basecoat let it go off (should have a semi shine to it) then laquer over the top i would still use 2k though as it is more durable but be warned once you open a can and start to use it you need yo use all you need within 24 hours as will will set in the can you can slow down the curing process by keeping it in the fridge
  11. the mod i used on my previous z is basically pin 5 from the headlamp relay connect to earth not sure if doing it this way stops the dip beams coming on when 'flashing lights' though
  12. 1k will look shite after it's been in the sun better off using 2k my only concern is that you will be trying 2k laquer over 1k if it was me i would rub panel down apply a new coat of basecoat then 2k laquer over the top, the 2 stuff i used recomended spraying it in temperatures over 23 degrees so might not be right time of year to do it
  13. well i read on a internet site somehwere that wheeler dealers is not meant as a seious program but is meant as tongue in cheek, it was said a lot of the buyers were friends or relatives of the film crew, the vehicles them selves have ended up on ebay on several occasions after filming and advertised as being used in a tv show (look at top gear they are legally not alowed to sell any vehicles they use to the public) i would imagine wheeler dealers would be the same, if you look carefully at a lot of the episodes you will see extra jobs done to the cars (take last weeks landrover) look at one of the shots at the end when they are driving it and the headlining looked brand new after x amount of years on a farm it would not be in that condition, there was also a old episode where they showed a shot of the car with the wheels off and it had brand new discs and calipers all round these were not included at the end when adding up the figures, also there was something in the sierra cosworth episode but cant remember what. the guy i bought my zed off sent several emails asking them if they would like to buy it as a project for the show, they never got a reply

  22. my advice if it is any of the pipes at the rear of the engine get a couple of sets of long nose pliers to aid in the fitting of new pipes
  23. also had subframe bushing collars fitted they made a huge difference to the handling
  24. gotta say jeftt is a top bloke just got back with the zed running a whole lot better than when i went up there this morning, turns out i had a huge boost leak on one of the turbo pipes (the bottom rubber one with the corregated section in) turns out the garage who did the turbos for the previous owner never got it on quite right so the one edge of the pipe was sat ontop of the flangle, and managed to put a whol in the pipe as well whilst trying to get it on, slight leak on the pcv's to so thats now all sorted, also got the dreaded timing belt 1 tooth out so timed it to where it should be but it's on max adjustment on the cas so thats another job but not till next year when i put the car back on the road the timing was at 3 degrees before adjustment, that of course led to a very spirited drive home and what a difference it's made, only other slight faults are a little wear in the one front camber arm, a rear hicas arm has a lot of play, brake pads (which i knew about), and a pcv valve change so all in all a worthwhile trip
