  1. Got a fresh import from california 1971 made Also got the 71 rolling shell that you may have seen. The red LHD one was sold in France just before Christmas
  2. Mine too!!! Shame I dont own it!! Just getting a nice set of Ser 2 alcantara installed this weekend. Got some tidying of stuff in engine bay also. New Seats are due soon as are new wheels. New scuttle panel trims to be fitted next week along with HID kit and clear side indicators.
  3. Car back with me now for rest of the interior to be swapped over
  4. I have known this car with its present owner and the previous owner too. It was when I last saw it a very nice car. Although its a converted auto not a factory manual. (I wouldnt be seen dead or alive in one personally.)
  5. Well its early January now!! Despite arctic weather and an extended break for Xmas/New year we are still pretty much on schedule...... I went over to GB Vehicles in Lincs today to take some parts for Gary to fit and to dicuss the project. Unfortunately Gary had to spend the morning at the local hospital with his mum who took a tumble. However Gary's wife Paula gave me the workshop keys.............. Need I say more????????
  6. 99 spec Version R came with "sill extensions to aid high speed stability" From Brian Long's book:innocent:
  7. This car has been touted about for sale for a couple of years. started off in 2009 at £4995. was on another site late 2010 at £2500 So dont expect to get it cheap. IMO its a classic example of the old maxim that "rare doesnt always mean desirable".
  8. Looks like the set of springs i have are called Espelir. A Google search reveals a fair bit of info about the make in general. apparantly a progressive lowering spring.
  9. If you want to go for a budget option on lowering springs then I have a set for very little money you can have. They are blue colour but I dont know if they are the same as your link or not. I can dig them out and get a pic in a day or so if you are interested. They have been fitted to a car but not for long I dont think. Ie they are used not new. £30 + postage as I wont need them now I have my Meister coil over kit.
  10. Just got the reminder today of all days!!!:santa::santa: looking forward to 2011 already. Cars to finish Peole to meet Events to go to Etc
  11. there is no doubt that Jeffs re-manufactured props are excellent value and are a total fix, but since most centre bearings have lasted 10 to 15 years on the original cars a new one fittted now will probably outlast the car!! And a good used one or a cheap new one will be a lot less than a new prop.
  12. Good news then Graham. Although the bearing I sent was spot on the prop front joint was a bit past its best!! Maybe turning it will help.:cool3:
  13. Just cut some sheet metal to shape and weld it in. New/replacement parts are available but not cheap.
  14. Care is required in selecting an exhaust for an NA, Having too large a diameter pipe will cost you power lower down the rev range. As will having a system like the Jap speed one with its great long pipe before the silencer, unless you marry it up to some decats with built in expansion boxes like the Z centre ones. Gas speeds and extraction are more important on an NA than a turbo car where you will have a turbo impeller spinning to assist with exhaust gas scavenging. All of course IMHO.:tt2:
  15. i was working in Eastwood. I left the car near B+Q and walked home. It was quicker.:cool3: Total gridlock
  16. Yes it is. The first car has been done and set up. Owner is very happy. John is currently working on Madmax/Martins car .The second TT customer. But at the same time John is looking at "options" and "new developments" on the 300ZX which can be run by the Emerald ECU. Both Jonn and myself need a new system to run power steering because of the way we have built our "hybrid" vehicles. Hence the interest in power steering.
  17. Just do a handbrake cable swap and its fixed! Simples. Hope the shell isnt bent
  18. actual subframe is the same LWB and SWB. TT and NA are different. Handbrake cables are different.
  19. Just be patient!! It,s coming back my way after paint!!! But I think we might have to remove that blue silicone:blushing: bit of a colour clash going on in there. (Dont tell Bob tho)
  20. FIA approved seat belt anchors are available. just enlarge the hole enough to let the nut sit inside and continuously weld round the plate.... Job done. If you are not confident of your abilty to weld properly get someone who can.
  21. Will sit too far in... so not filling arch. Might foul on big caliper /brake kit. Might not. Really need to try before you buy.
  22. Front offset is wrong.... for a 300ZX. IMO
  23. Well I personally am not a fan of vinyl wrapping. IMO its a temporary fix. i either want the "real deal" ... carbon fibre moulded or paint. Its important to have an overall plan for a project of this size and budget. Thats my function... project manager/advisor. I have also done a fair bit of the "dogsbody " work on it. We are only using known and trusted sources. Lots of the parts have come from Z1. Gary has been painting Zeds of all ages from 240Z to 350Z all his working life.. Dan at Advanced Motorsport and Engineering has a good reputation and works on a wide variety of exotic and powerful machinery. Bob is constantly in contact with him to check on progress/problems and costs. So nothing and nobody escapes scrutiny. this is essential to drive a project like this thru to completion... on time(ish) and on budget(or VERY close). This forum , like many others is littered with tales of woe from projects that were badly planned and executed and often abandoned. My mission is to ensure that this isnt another epic disaster.
