  1. It never actually got to the rolling stage. the cut off point is manufactured before the end of 1972.(not registered)
  2. I dont unfortunately. There are lots of pictures in the boook tho and Im familiar with things like the OS Giken twin cam head for the 240Z which is what one of the pics shows. my friend is fluent and has a Japanese partner. It is frustrating not to pick up all the tech detail.
  3. Think its 72 end of dec that is the cut off. I think it coincides with the Historic vehicle tax status
  4. Like this!!!!!!! these are on loan to me from a very good friend who has impeccable connections in the Japanese tuning market on 240Z cars
  5. yers mate. Its a little piece of history/memorabilia about the car. £20 seems a fair price. IMO. You cant go out and buy a meal for 2 with £20 nowadays.
  6. Yep interesting archive book. I have one. Bought it on here off a former member. I also have the full set of Brian Longs books as well a most of the popular books on the early cars. 240Z etc. i have a copy of the very rare Speedsport publication book Tuning Datsuns by Paul Davies dating from 1978. Extensive features on works and Janspeed cars. Also features photos and feature on SPY 44 , the first privately campaigned Rally 240Z in Britain. I knew the owner Richard Jackson quite well at the time and his Mechanic Bob who helped me maintain my works replica Mini Cooper S back in the mid seventies. Them were the days:yes:
  7. Alright then clever clogs.. If you say so.:stupid: you dont know owt about it either tho:no: :ban: :D:D:D
  8. Especially good on a SWB. Seller is a member of forum too.:smartass:
  9. You are probably right about Chungs car.:rofl::rofl:
  10. right! it wasnt that one then cos it deffo had a supercharged LS9 in it. And it was red.
  11. OH!!!! What engine does THAT have???
  12. LS9  I must have been dreaming about it then:angel:
  13. On a long shot I just asked Mike Feeney at MJP if it rang any bells with him or the mechanics he uses. he has never seen it before. it reminds me of the car that Dave Chung at Petrolheads NW used to have but I dont think thats it??? Johnny at Grasshopper once had a green car but IIRC it was a wide arch one ex Luke Borg.
  14. Being serious now... That looks a wicked bit of kit. i felt the same when I first bought a 10 ton hydraulic press. Wondered how I ever got anything apart without it.
  15. Jeffs wallet is fitted with a one way flap. it accepts money... but............:D:D:D i know this because I have one too....:rofl:
  16. Did you find that out the hard way then???:innocent: Or are you just a methodical clear thinking mechanic:biggrin:
  17. yanking it may well work if it is the original 20 year old Nissan adhesive. However if it has been re done with modern stuff like Tiger Seal or Sikaflex then no amount of pulling will remove it. Same with aftermarket ones. there are two types of wire available. Serrated type and smooth but thin n sharp plain wire. Both need caution in use to avoid damage to car and fingers and nearby arteries!!
  18. thats not going to do yer torque wrench a lot of good:scared:
  19. You may well need a 24" extension bar. Im not kidding. Steel plug into ally housing= bimetallic corrosion. spraying them with penetrating oil etc wont help as its wound in about 10mm of thread..
  20. Pretty simple really. open bottom plug to drain. replace plug. open top plug to fill. Fill gradually till it Just trickles out. replace plug. The fun bit is getting the plugs loose if nobody has ever been there before.
  21. I might get one just to have proper handles for my reel of windscreen removal wire. Looks better than the two bits of wood with self tappers in them that I currently use:whistling:
  22. Its not the diff thats sealed its the LSD unit is that sealed. It sits inside the crown wheel. The oil in the casing is to lubricarte the crownwheel and pinion as they turn and the output shaft bearings. Dont confuse a viscous LSD with a plate type LSD which is exposed inside the crown wheel cage. Ie a salisbury type unit. The popular one from Japan is the Kaz unit. These require special diff oil
  23. the LSD unit is sealed for life. changing the oil in the diff casing doesnt affect the LSD operation.
  24. The stock z32 diff is a sealed unit viscous type. Changing the diff oil has no effect on the unit whatsoever.
  25. Great answer. Set out nicely and based on facts. And will cover the vast majority of the cars/engines on this forum. Brand is of little importance so long as its a known quality brand. Different people will have different brand preferences
