Rich Newton (Chunk)
I still keep occasional contact with Rich. He rolled my arches on the slicktop earlier in the summer. He was Midlands organizer when I joined in 2004. He was in a wheelchair then. Back then people like Onslow/Steve J. Ivan aka the Dark Warrrior and me used to push him round at events at Santa Pod. Its fair to say he was a good organizer and general good bloke who has had to put up with lots of problems in his life. He didnt see eye to eye with some of the main committee members back then and left the club. But thats all water under the bridge now.

Bobgenies slicktop....extreme makeover
Well its Monday again and time to get on.... Im now at a tricky stage with the tailgate. I need to bond the Polycarb window in place without removing it from the upper locating rail!!! Its not rigid like a piece of glass either. I will only get one shot at it. If it drops in the wrong place there will be black sealant everywhere but the right place:glare: Think I might need an extra pair of hands??? Anyone???

Cheers mate. He is double tatooed. I plan to find a "safe" field to let him off once he gets to know us better.

New man in the family!!!
Thank you all for your kind responses.. We will be getting his papers and history in a few days. So will know his racing name etc. He slept well in his bed in the kitchen and seems to be making a start on settling in. Louise loves him to bits already and has been in charge of "walks" today, which went well. He was alone with me most of the day and after an hour of following me in and out of the garage/workshop etc he decided to go back to bed about 11.00am this morning to catch up on some ZZZZs............................ see pic.

New man in the family!!!
Good idea. although he is probably faster to 40 than many drivers on this forum!!! He will do 0 to 40mph(approx) in about 3 secs. (Or he did do at the peak of his career.) Not sure how fast he is now. I need to find some private fenced space on a farm etc to let him off the lead.

New man in the family!!!
Normally Im the only bloke in my house but my grown up daughter Louise is back living with me and has "persuaded " me to say "yes " to an addition to the household:yes: So here he is....... His name is Kane and he is 7 years old. Kane is an ex racing greyhound who has now retired after a long and hard racing career. We fetched him today from the Retired Greyhound Trust near Newark. In his career he was based at Nottingham dog racing track although like many racing hounds he was born and bred in Ireland Now he is lying on my lounge carpet at the end of his first day in a house. Its difficult to say who is more worn out Louise and me or Kane. Anyway here is a pic. He is a very handsome boy indeed.

2 seater glass....8.6Kg. Lexan/polycarb.... 4.9Kg QED. There are not many disassembly jobs left thank goodness. Rear window removal was one... Now done and glass in one piece.:sweatdrop: I decided to use some of the existing holes in the tailgat to mount the retaining pins. The nice 50mm setscrews to mount the door mirrors and their adaptor plates arrived today.... So I fitted a mirror. i have also cut and rewelded the new wide view interior mirror and located it. I know carbon fibre is not everyones cuppa but IMO the mirrors look good AND they are very light. Pics .....................................

how much hassle is it to remove rear hubs??
The procedure to remove is simple enough. The potential problem is getting the hub off the splined driveshaft end. It could tap off really nicely......... Or NOT No way of knowing in advance.

Holy crap
LOL!!!! on a serious note. The impact my slicktop had was relatively lowish speed in to a lampost. Yaseen was not injured. The intrusion of the post was around 6" Compare the damage to this one being discussed. The speed this car must have been doing to cause that impact is mindblowing

I already have:thumbup1:................................. The wire you can see is the wideband sensor wire... I think:kiss: So........... today I have been trial fitting some mirrors and making some base plates. These might look a little familiar Jaffa:laugh: I have just sprayed the ally panel satin black. It would better using a piece of carbon fibre sheet but I dont have time to source some and cut it..... later maybe but for now these will do and I need to move on.

heater hoses
As said they are different but difficult to tell apart unless you have them both side by side. I have just removed these low mileage ones from Bob's car as the heater has been removed

Attempted break in, how can I start my car?
Im around if you need a "help line" 07778 411568. drilling a little dimple on the top of the shear screw heads lets you tap it round easier.

Attempted break in, how can I start my car?
Its quite simple (but fiddly) to get the whole lock/barrel off the column. Then the wheel will turn. Unscrew any screws with heads on. The shear screws are... well sheared!!. So you need a dot punch and a hammer (plus patience) to "tap" them round till they are loose. As Baz has said a replacement barrel and key from a breaker is easy. I probably have one on its own if you dont want the extra job of changing all the locks

Bobgenies slicktop....extreme makeover
Well today I have spent a long time fitting the passenger seat (then removing it... LOL!) I have used one original rear mount. Then I made an adaptor plate to pick up on the other side. Then I made two spreader plates for the new front mounts complete with captive bolts, so seat fitting and removal is easy and quick. Its quite ridiculous how much time this takes and how many times I have lifted that *****ng seat in and outta that shell:rant: Before I even started on the fabrication I spent a little time finding the optimum position for it. Once that was all done I trial fitted the footrest which will be needed as the seat is much further back than stock. It is also very low(but adjustable) This will keep the passenger out of the drivers line of sight and keep the centre of gravity low too. Its as important as the drivers side to get the pass seat safely and securely mounted given the high speed and G forces generated inside this car on full chat. Im very comfortable in there. Bob,s lovely partner Martina will be too. The rest of the day was spent doing the final de bracketing, panel wiping and masking inside in preparation for paint. All in all a very long day.......:glare: Pics......................

Rear tail light sensor
Let me know when you solve this... as I have pretty much the same problem. I thought I had checked the fuse... I had better look again Meantime I pulled the connectors to the bulbs so I only have dip beam. not a problem as I dont drive it in the dark. Mot not till may 2013 so enough time to fix it:glare:

Thanks James. Maybe I should fit the crowbar(its a tyre lever actually) on the pass side so I can rap Bob on the knuckles if/when he doesnt change gear fast enough:mad2: :rofl::rofl: That too would help!! In that photo of removed stuff there is over 16kg
