Im planning on doing more next season. I wont use the car hardly at all over the winter At a treadwear factor of only 140 they wont do a huge mileage

Upsetting day!
And many of us Dads understand how hard it is. I "helped " with the deposit for my oldest girl(29 now) And untill she came home my younger one (24) was renting a house that I own with her now ex partner. What I said above about them was just in fun. I love them both to bits and they will never need to worry about a place to stay while Im alive. My longer term plan is that they wont need to worry if/when I go either.

RWYB today at York Raceway.
That is the plan!! Ultimately if you have the basic skills (like Chung and me.. and many others) it comes down to money. To go fast you need money...... To go faster you need more money.... To go really fast you need even more money. "How fast do you want to go??????.....................How much money have you got???:smartass:

RWYB today at York Raceway.
it is for York cos the track is a little "agricultural" In my book that would equate to a 14.6 at Santa Pod so im closing in on my and Chungs 2006 times.:cool3: Pass seat will be out and hopefully a tailgate change . There are some further changes in the pipeline, some of which Jaffa has already done. i have the double task of driving the changes on Bobgenies car and my own as well. Hence the "headlight" query I posted. Both the others have light weight Varley batteries. I need to get one. Then its down to stripping out door internals and other misc small stuff. Fortunately its nearly the end of the season and there is all winter to get on with it. Not to forget my as yet unused forged, high compression engine still needs fitting gonna be a busy winter:scared:

RWYB today at York Raceway.
Only me there as usual but thats not a problem for me. Its a friendly low key place with lots of like minded people having fun. The weather was good till late afternoon . I now have a line lock fitted to the car so I was able to warm up the Mickey Thompsons . Result was a 0.2 sec improvement over last month. Three sub 15 sec runs today with a best for the day of 14.83 at 94.35 mph. I was well pleased with that. On a later but slower run I nearly had a sub2sec 60ft time. 2.07sec.:taz: I still have a random small missfire/hesitation at full revs under WOT. Only occasional and lasts a couple of tenths of a sec only. I would like to chase that down before Santa Pod next weekend. A good day and made even better by some completely random flattering remarks about how well the car went and sounded. Lets hope the weather is as good next weekend. I have a couple of mods/tweaks planned for this week also!!

Hi all, Which to choose ?
If you had come out to York Raceway today you would have seen and heard an NA manwell slicktop in action. there were no other 300s to complare mine with but I ran a couple of 14.8sec passes today with a best terminal of 94.83mph.. On a later run I managed to pull a 2.07 60ft time only 1/100 sec off my PB:cool3:

Time Attack 2012
Time attack Update. just spoken to James/Jaffa. He has had a trying but successful day at last. Finished up 3rd in RWD Club class and 16th out of 24 overall in club class. He had another turbo oil line fail due to excess heat. Hopefully he will be able to do another full day tomorrow on the final round.

Worrying Noise
You have asked two questions here. Let me attempt to answer them one at a time. "Am I running a risk of doing damage?". ...... Well the clever sounding answer is no. Why?? Cos the damage has already occurred. If you now ask the question" Will I run the risk of doing MORE damage?".. then the answer is yes. this leads on to your second question. "what might the cause be"..... The machine gun noise if you have described it correctly is caused by metal hitting metal.. Now you want to know which bits of metal... Well In my experience the sharp machine gun noise is usually little ends ie gudgeon pins in the rods/pistons. Its cause by excess clearance(WEAR) and is the sound of metal hittting metal. If on the other hand it is a tapping type noise then lifters are the suspect. Bottom end noise is usually deeper in tone and is normally Main bearing and big end bearing wear. Changing oil will never cure wear of metal components. Heavier oil might mask it for a little while. Changing oil/flushing is often a solution for noisy lifters tho. So worth doing to rule them in or out as the root cause. In all problems like this you need to look for the root cause ..... not treat the symptoms All of course IMHO:closedeyes:

Best place to put a jack on Zed
The std jack is an excellent bit of kit if used in the correct place on cars that are structurally sound. On lowered cars they are often essential to get in first . Do not however use a trolley jack in the same places. At the back you can use the front mounts of the rear subframe going in from the side. Or from the rear use the curved lower part of the subframe. At the front you need to get right in to the main underfloor chassis rails from the side or from the front get under the ENGINE crossmember. NOT trhe rad support crossmember. IMO IMO

Moment of madness maybe???
Given your circumstances and I know what lies ahead for you it makes excellent sense.. Getting a well sorted car you can enjoy for the near future and then contemplate little upgrades etc when you fancy them seems a good way forward. IMO looking at your other thread I think you have made a good move in getting on board with the correctly trained healthcare professionals who you will need to help/guide you thru the initial stages of change. Patient support groups etc are also an excellent way forward for many people in your situation and others with other difficult and life changing healthcare issues.

Japshow final
Yep i think he dropped out of the whole 300ZX scene. His 14.56 best run topped my 14.57 best. I aim to reclaim the top time. Im not sure it will be this time round tho. It might be next season.

Japshow final

Japshow final
Normally a bit slower at York. Track is still pretty rough but a great friendly atmosphere and good to run in classes too.
