  1. i believe you are, however its probally related to your tyre size. plus havent you just had a rebuild, with some tricks? so likley the engine will be working less to achive the same speed.
  2. cracked water expansion bottle. does it drip out down infront of the wheel? obviously the system warms up chucks out a little water and teh water thats in the expansion bottle pushes the water thats in there out. with a crack or split it pours out prematurly.
  3. have you tried leaving it with the alarm off? could be the seperate alarm battery is toast and sapping the system? your gonna have to start pulling fuses and seeing what happens.
  4. do a compression test, you probally split a coolant hose and its loost the coolant then overheated. the compression test will confirm weather the block is still air tight, i would recon that you have probally warped the head in the process hence the sound. but you gotta look into it. any signs of head gasket failure? smeg in the oil or black oily plugs? where abouts do you live mate?
  5. page 5..... must try harder :(
  6. i swear i saw this car on the back of a flat bed in southern england what about a month or so back. looked almost identical had to look twice as to what it was.
  7. agreed with dave lower but pull it forward, to be flush. i wish i could just throw my front plate in the bin.
  8. uk ones and jap ones are made of different materials as al said. after acertain date the uk ones changed. you cars uk spec iirc? just throw a magnet on it if it sticks its iron if not well its ali :)
  9. yeh i know, i should work it out. here are the stats and tyre sizes. i think they will fit pretty well and fill teh arches with minimal spacing. Rear are 9jj e38 with 255/40/17/94y falcon 452 Fronts are 8jj e35 with 215/45/17/87y falcon 452 are teh fronts a little too narrow? and will that difference in profile make much difference to the speedo etc.
  10. yes you do but if you would like to shae pictures with us of this car, for club reasons you knwo just to show us and not with an intent to sell theres nothing wrong with that :D
  11. worth checking for your leccy seats. i dunno how much power they use but it must be alot, mine got jammed on the down setting a while back drained my battery overnight before i realised what it was, i stood on it getting in on a tight driveway. bloody thing
  12. could always get some drain rods and a ballon and push them through till the little bugger runs out the other side. either that or send a terrier down there
  13. sure its dribbling in? would have thought it would struggle to get past tbh. but certainly yes it would cause the smoking if oil was getting in there
  14. can take a few thousand miles for the crap from the pcvs to clear out. might be worth doing a leak down test, while your busy.
  15. wouldnt take my pint glass there to washed after that.
  16. mk1 and two escorts are loverly but this does nothing for me. its not even rwd. :(
  17. silly question and dont take it the wrong way, is this your first rwd car? often people who are new to them are suprised by the heat coming from the tunnel because they have never had a gearbox in there before. :D
  18. assuming that the pump was working and that you havent take it apart, it sounds like an air lock, if the pulley is rotating it should be working. ive just had the same issue, i had taken it apart and put the internals in 180 degrees out seriously easy to do.... i jacked the front up makes it easier then worked from lock to lock with the engine off, cap off and filter out of the pot. you will see loads of air come up when going from lock to lock. then once tahts stopped fire it up and carry on till no more comes out an assisant makes life easier. other than that you have the solenoid and the electrical system taht controls that. very frustraing isnt it. and youve def put in auto trans fluid not just normal powered steering fluid? probally teaching you to suck eggs. can take ages btw.
  19. any further info on this, how long is a standard sump plug? ive got one to fit but this has put me off slightly
  20. second on the battery polarity revrsal check it at least. i managed to do this a few months back. the charger i used was old and the leads had ben bodged they where revrse so i ended charging the batt reverse did exactly this.
  21. i hate people that dont control thier dogs, if you cant see it your not in control. winds me right up when a dog comes bouncing through the bushes and ambushes you no owner to be seen, these people really should think more like you said imagine if that was a nipper! my dog is a little shite, hence why he doesnt come off the lead. he wouldnt do much damage cos its only small but i dont trust him, so he doesnt get let off simples!
  22. my under cowling was there when i brought it then it just er disappeared....... whoops
  23. its pretty quiet tbh flights and displays carried on, he did a good job missing an amusment park fulla kiddies, one of the guys in my fishing club dragged him out the river by all accounts. i saw three firetrucks shooting through. didnt think too much of it. gonna go be nosey at the crash site in a few days once evrythings quitened down, just curious really. its only afew miles from my house literally about 3 maybe 4 miles
