Daft Question?
Correct you'd be cutting out the air metering, that being said it should run normally till 3k

No boost.
Are you not living proof that you can teach yourself?

No boost.
Seriously? Have you even done any diagnosis on it? Tbh mate if you give up that easy a performance car probably isn't for you, a honda civic is probably more practical.

are you running upgraded turbos and what do you reccommend
Is the Gtx2860 the turbo used in z1s gt600 package?

Yes is the answer, however dicky already said it's just not financially viable right now. It can be done later. A good stock vg can hold 5-600hp just fine, conversely a bad one can't hold the 300 it started life with. There's guys in the states running 7-800 on a stock bottom end! As you rightly point out though a rebuilt block with the supporting hard wear will be FAR better and more reliable.

Sensible question.

Fuel economy hero!
22mpg still isn't bad considering it's chipped and even what it is to start with! It's a 20+ year old 3l twin turbo, modern cars of that kind of spec and power output only achieve mildly more really.

Fuel economy hero!
Yeah I've had over 30 in my Lwb when it was auto.

Lots of white smoke when revving engine
There is quite obviously an oil supply issue, weather that's from a blockage or contamination Christ knows till it's taken apart. Until that happens no one can point fingers. On a lighter note what wing mirrors are they dicky?

Lots of white smoke when revving engine
I was informed by the chap that owns cr turbos that if the turbo isn't primed with oil "you will be lucky to get to the end of the road, before it fails" Priming a turbo isn't very specific unfortunately. You simply get oil to circulate before allowing the engine to run, usually done without the fuel relay in to achieve this. I am sure this would have been done its school boy stuff. What it sounds like is your turbo has insufficient oil supplied to it. This has caused the premature failure. A leaky or blocked line? An old oil pump that simply isn't providing sufficient circulation? I do feel for you. Just so you know a failed seal won't kill a turbo it will just make it smoke.

'Heavy' steering
Hicas is dictated by speed, no speedo creates a fault in its system so it flashes up hicas fault. As the hicas cannot operate propery.

They're mine, all mine. At last......!!
If it wasn't for cable ties and gaffer tape Britain would literally fall apart.

Lol, you should see my new steering wheel rich, it's got diamonties . - - - Updated - - - We all you love a solid one simon!

Yup all those things make me happy and feature highly on my car. I find my massive boot instal and excessive neon collection help to create a composed and stylish product. In a serious note though I wonder if it would be cheaper to have the handles chromed. Rather than sourcing the already chromed ones?

I'd going to get some pink nail polish, paint the stock ones that and be done with it. It's old hat boys, why bit sticker bomb them or something. I bet some Honda ones will fit, maybe from a civic. That will give you vtech power which is superior to actual horsepowers.

No boost.
Then as jeff said you need to progress into a boost leak test. Turbo function test. If you can hear them spool clearly that's not a good sign, indicates a massive boost leak.
- Overheating

No boost.
Boost leak test first off. Sounds like you've left some stuff detached. Does the gauge read 0 perminatly? It should read -9 at idle.

Tyres i know?
Surely you just change profiles? I've got 225/40/18 up front and 265/35/18 at the rear they both have the same rolling diameter.

Treating your zed
Mine would love to be treated to a tank if fuel and a good thrashing.
-
intercooler pipes
Yes big power and response gains. I just think they are way over priced.
-
Tyres i know?
That's cheap!
-
Never seen anything like this on a zed before
Thing is those old Chevy blocks are easy to pull power out of, cheap to pull bigpower too. You will find the reason it's in there is the previous owner couldn't hack life with the vg30, that's almost certain. Sounds like its on the isle of white. That will be for sale for a while.

Oil capacity with new filter, oil lines and cooler?????
3.5 litres would be to oil holding capacity of a Jspec, the uk holds more. When filling the engine from squat typing will most likely end up using more. Think I used 4 litres. The best thing to do is put in 3.5 litres prime it let it settle. Check top up if required then fire over again before starting. Then keep a close eye in the level over the coming miles.pouring 5 litres straight in is a bad idea and will probably just causes seals to leak and your car to smoke. - - - Updated - - - Hi Luke?
