  1. Spotted this car in ferndown Dorset, today about 2pm.
  2. Il hold you to that, Japfest will be round again before you know it. That's your closest big event isn't it?
  3. You should find that creams into the low 20s with more mixed driving and mostly motorway cursing even higher. It's the stop start or high revs that drink the fuel with these cars.
  4. Do you know any suitable silicone manufacturing companies Anthony? :p
  5. Some real progress has been made here guys, which may lead to an easier road for many.
  6. I'm not too worried ATM. My plan is after to Xmas to strip the underside back. Replace all bushes and have all the arms shit blasted/powder coated. I'm going to town under there. Gotta do a few things round the house first and build a garage before I can start.
  7. My battery is on charge as we speak. Hoping to squeeze in a half hour cruise.
  8. Worth a go isn't it, it may gave taught itself some bad habits.
  9. Tbh graham, no where. They sound all eger multiple emails go back and forth they say we will come and join up. At which point you never hear from them again, well I certainly don't. I don't really get it myself, do they not want to sell their products?
  10. Silly question, you have reset the ecu right?
  11. Apparently so, this is the stuff my mate uses on old 911s. If anyone wants to see rustproof and shell perpetration look a at the classic car scene, we are wayyyyyyy behind.
  12. Doubt it, Pete explained the guy isn't the manufacturer and the manufacture isn't interested in z32 panels, as he can make ones for others cars that are worth making panels for. The way I see it a total reliance on the us isn't productive. It's counter productive in terms of cost, were paying a us based middle man, then paying again to get it here. Also bear in mind a lot of us stuff is based on swb models, as all twin turbos were swb from factory there. So just like many us exhaust manufactures, I'd expect us panel production to concentrate on swb. Which are the minority if cars here in Europe as a whole. As I said at the beginning here and about a year ago on another thread, we NEED to start preparing for the future. A car that is worth nothing and costs a fortune to fix is not going to last. The only way to improve the cars profile here in the uk is better parts supply and a higher average standard. These are mutually linked things. That group buy recently for looms through that guy that makes them is a great example of what we Need. Marks efforts with twin chip have been great, it's silly though that we have to import from Peru via Germany! What the hell is all that about? I remember speaking to z1 months back about getting a rep in here, there a sponsor yet they have no presence? "There's something in the pipeline" was the response yet I see nothing?
  13. I see what your saying Si, but to import a part that big, I would expect the shipping to become a hindrance. It's well worth speaking to z1 as you say, they may already have a plan in progress. I understand that were not going to run around chasing things, however a collection of commonly replaced panels is easy to aquire simply by asking. Then collect a sample of those common panels, good ones obv, I'm sure the members would donate to the cause. Then start speaking to sheet metal/fabrication shops about having drawings or tooling created. This way in future the drawing is there to produce a part that you may not be able to find all that easily. This saves massively for the process of having a new part made. I hate to bring this up but investment such as thing into the prolonged life of the marque is indeed a good use of club funds.
  14. I was thinking the very same esp being cyl 5. It's one of the reasons I asked about plug condition, a cyl with low compression will generally burn oil. (Or water obv)
  15. Have you pulled the spark plug? What sort of condition is it it?
  16. Il admitt I'm equally impatient, my local motor factors started selling it. One of the guys has a detailing business so good advice and range of cleaning products.
  17. Get it set up, corner weighted etc. You still got stock engine and box mounts? Can wait to go polybush crazy.
  18. Or an under cover police car. I didn't appreciate you were going to do it this way, thought you were going to do the third light as a flasher.
  19. I'm using poor boys ATM, diamond white, with their wax. The cars not been cleaned since haynes. It's still shiney under the dust. Really good products. I used auto gleam for years, then switched to meiguiers which was good but the poor boys was even better.
  20. Might sound silly but unhook the diff end turn 90 degrees try again, repeat. Maybe the prop isn't in the right position. I seem to recall about marking the prop against the diff to maintain balance. It might be a moot point but it's an easy thing to try and check.
  21. It's hilarious when you think about, if you want to bolt on all mannor of fibreglass ugly there's sources a plenty. If you want a honest looking splitter or a piece of structural bodywork. No one has them. I was banging on about this a whole back, we need to start looking at ways to get panels else the car will never last. Do you see the old fords suffer like this? No repro parts are very common. I'm surprised no one has ever made a fibreglass rear hatch, think of the weight loss and all those rusty tailgates gone! These are the sort of things that separate a forum from an owners club, we should be at the front line of parts sourcing. Instead I'm sorry to say it but often this place is more like a zed grave yard. People buying them up and selling them on for parts like scrap metal merchants. Anyways that's my two pence worth.
  22. I don't like them..... Oops did I say that out loud.
  23. I see, what a shame. There must be something we can do to encourage easier access. As for those pieces, they actually arnt very complex. I wouldn't use an English wheel though, I'd use a press to create the left hand piece and similarly to create the swagde on the the right hand one then some different tooling on a break press to create the bends. Obviously the tooling drives up the price, however if your making lots, once you've made it each new one esp that left hand pannel will take all of 30 seconds to create. This is simular stuff to what we knocked up in college, amongst lobster backs and square to rounds and all that stuff. I actually quite enjoyed sheet metal work. It's dirty shitty work though and I earn more with clean hands these days.
