  1. Yeah, that figure is the guesstimate for reliability. Based upon age and wear. Plenty of people in the US of A are running over 600 on a stock bottom end, Jaffa is running good numbers under track conditions. The issue is how long does will it last, the answer is the more power the shorter time. However if your bottom end is already damaged, most don't even know. At that point well it won't last long, the resultant failure could render your shiney new turbos a write off too. Net result false economy.
  2. Nissan were the first to have to apply the 280 limit, the 300 was the first car to have it apply, they soon realised they could be liberal with roughly 280 with cars throwing out more than 300 or so. It went out the window fairly quickly I think. The z32 could have had an ecu that was better mapped, or run at more respectable 12psi. It would have broken 280 though, he'll there's even two restrictor rings in the mid pipes to reduce HP a few. It's not that it fell short, it was deliberately strangled.
  3. Fuel can make a massive difference, a lot of the yanks are now using e85(im sure simon is better informed than myself on it) the far higher octane means they can run so much more boost SAFELY. As si said noel has made massive headway for us lot, he even had his own car virtually stock, stock block and tubs and injectors to 430hp, so it really shouldn't be a surprise. I believe the stock bottom end record is now about 900hp, obviously no bolt ons are stock though.
  4. Sorry got the names wrong. The gtz; http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_12&products_id=15 And the type 3; http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_12&products_id=1290 Personally the gtz is the winner for me, quite popular I yanky land.
  5. Didn't Andy have the type 2 slightly different finishes flush with the nose?
  6. Tungsten has always been expensive, weird stuff to. A few years back maybe 7 years now, I snapped a tig welding tip piece in half, you only want half what they make it in. It scratched my skin like a cat scratch. The chap I was working with looked at it and said that will scar, I just laughed as it was literally a scratch. He reckoned so etching about tungsten causes it to get shitty. Well he was right, the scar is still there to this day. It looks like I put a Stanley across my hand. Weird stuff.

    Sorted :D
  8. been looking at options for the front, I don't really like the idea od paying 2-300 for front FUCA's z1 d these: http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_8&products_id=2918 that seems very expensive for some hi-ten bolts and some plate.....no? they say upto a 3/4" drop, however ive seen other versions that say upto 1.5" :s
  9. Oh dear. Have you been able to decide wether it's a write off or not yet? It's easy done mate on slippery winter roads. Not exactly stock power either is it.
  10. That is something I need, the one I have leaves a dumb 2" gap between the bottom and the gaitor.
  11. Exactly that mate. I think you just get to an age where a pair of Nike air maxes make you feel a bit...you know? I don't wear shoes shoes ever, but I wouldn't be without a comfy pair off DC's or a well worn in pair of gortex ankle boots, or is that my hill billy side kicking in? Ah haha
  12. Well done Si, subs are for Saxos.
  13. I said I wanna go fast simon not look like a hairdresser.
  14. No worries bri, I did think about a full delete. However the scavenging effect is very positive. However all things being equal I won't need it due to those anamites we call turbos being replaced.
  15. Daily in my van lol, but not very often in the zed. If I wanted to sit at one speed is buy a Lexus lol I wanna fast mr.
  16. Lol cos there's no motorways in Dorset. Every time is used it some bell end would merge in front and slow me down. Waste of time. It was ugly and well in my way. Rear wiper and motor and hatch weight won't last much longer I doubt lol. I forgot the PAS pot is being moved too.
  17. Main fuse/relay is going where the ac compressor was. Little box dunno yet probably in the old Aiv spot.
  18. Time moves fast and I've got a lot to do. Empty shelves waiting for parts and a car sat there taunting my inability to get in with it. Time is both plentiful and also running out quickly. As the say spring creeps up on you
  19. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?168721-rolling-road-day-pictures&highlight=Powerstation I was there when it was on the rollers, don't think he's a member it he's friends with a few members.
  20. Gone so far; AC, CC, PRV, AIV, EGR, CaC Still to delete; Hicas(pos) Still to relocate; Fuse/relay boxes, battery, fuel filter, boost sensor think that's it lol. Oh and Pcv relocate not delete. One simple ass engine bay by the time I'm done.
  21. It frees up a lot if space getting rid of the aircon.
  22. Welcome. Usual old Nissan rust, these suffer from rear arches and sills due to the design of the arch and the targa drains. Side skirts hide problems. That's about it though rust wise. Mechanically, take it for a good long test drive. Look for smoke from prolonged idle and overrun. You probably know why. And listen for anything odd. The steering should be sharp and light. And if auto the shifts should be sharp and responsive. Long periods between changes etc are bad, tbh you will want a manual though.
