  1. Yes, in terms of sheer grip off the line a tyre to big for the rim will reduce the contact patch, similarly beyond a certain width it's rubber for rubber, the weight of the car over the contact patch becomes the limiting factor or the amount if grip exceedes the power than can be applied. Becoming more complicated, for grip throughout the corners too much tyre throws the car off balance applying force to the wrong areas and decreasing the useful part of the contact area. Then moving into really fast driving, too much rubber may not allow the car to reach the effective heat range for grip. The simple thought of whacking a tyre wider tan dawn French on gives you ultimate grip is actually pretty flawed.
  2. Satin black, was my first thought... But I'm warming to a Matt silver actually, saw a 911 like yesterday looked very clean and tidy
  3. Right I've decided to start getting the underside of my car upto a bit more mischief potential. I started by buying a rear subframe assembly off Jaffa, all polybushed with some extras. So here the assembly as it arrived, I say arrived but that makes it sound easy. Jaffa wrestled it off his car onto his trailer drive it down to sunny bournemouth from bath, and we about 6 of us in total spent the next hour hoofing around some altogether heavier, that's his story though. Now I'm going to strip it down clean it up and give it a lick of pain, etc. Started stripping it down, having some trouble with the lower arm ball joint. What's the procedure with these buggers, it just spins now. Are replacents DIY able or does it require a press etc.
  4. They ain't rich cos they give it away bud, they rich stay rich. Don't worry that Maserati will be worth about as much as a wet fart in 3 years time, they depreciate like crap. Love the grand tourismo's which are now becoming affordable.
  5. Ahhhh ok, disregard then. Had it in my head you were converting.
  6. There's a few generic diagrams but the rats nest of vac lines can become confusing. Get some fairy and mix up some as if you were making bubble juice for kids. Paint it on gently so as not to froth it, to the area you think it may be coming from, where it's leaking will throw up bubbles. A very clear and easy way to pin point those pesky little leaks.
  7. For pin 44 neutral switch? It's from the main ECU bud.
  8. Sadly yes, don't worry I've done the same thing twice. Very similar, dropped one of the rocker cover bolt into the block, got away with it both times, but a sweat few minutes ensued.
  9. Pretty sure in yanky land they have squeezed an 11j under there without a wide arch.
  10. Me too, she's picked up a few battle scars over the last 5 years. Stone chips and the like
  11. Next June mate, just easier to say.
  12. My father in law owned a 78 until about 2 years ago, I know how they drive. Pretty boring to drive, tbh they're extremely heavy and walloy. But I love them for the theatre of it all, the looks, the noise that classic leaf sprung carbed feel.
  13. Took this photo a few weeks ago, my absolute favourite car of all time. I keep promising myself one but other things keep getting in the way.
  14. The ghost of Christmas past.
  15. There's always a good turn out round here, the 350s are out in force.
  16. Remember, when these came out. Stylish and modern, tinted rear lights from factory, alloys and tinted windows etc everything you wanted at 17. Now though, yuk.
  17. My parents have a Chevy, it's horrendous. It's a rebadged old Daewoo with worse parts on it. The interior just like y old corsa look like they were recycled from plastic cups lol.
  18. This on the other hand is gorgeous, at present. Give it ten years though and will it be gorgeous still...
  19. No need for embarrassment. Check the block and head are square once seperated, or you will be doing it again quite quickly.
  20. Oh I know that and as a Pontiac GTO in the US but it's still GM isn't it. I LOVE pontiacs but I'm aware of the fact theyre not very good lol. I have brought a new vauxhall as a daily before which was a heap tbh and tbh I'd never buy another. GM stuff dates quickly, look at opels and vauxhalls from 5-10 years ago, they looked great at the start but now...Chevy are the same.
  21. Was just an example, if that standard issue vauxhall look. I tell you what it does look like, Mazda 6. I do like them honest, I just don't think they has stood the test of time. Vauxhalls never do.
  22. Great car and I've been very tempted myself, however the early ones are so vauxhall looking it's untrue, new they looked great now they look cheap and boring... My mrs said the other day that it looks like a Chav car. I am a fan honest, but it could so easy be mistaken for a generic vectra etc. the newer ones are much more distinct and better looking. That engine and drive train are full of win though.
  23. Ah ok. On that subject though, I think many potential z owners bypass the the z32 now. They write of off as expensive heavy dinosaur. You can buy z33s so cheaply now, if your not after big power or aware of the tunability of the vg30. Z32 are slowly rising and for a extra grand you can buy a newer car without the twin turbo headaches.
