The Great Southern joint-area 300zx Christmas party! (Dec 14th - PM)
It is a real pain, I myself and I know others too were looking forward to this. Unfortunately as Richard said it can go wrong quickly this time of year. It's a busy period and the weather can be a touch um trying at times. Personally I've away all week and am on call next weekend so my ability to finish the bathroom before Xmas has taken a beat delay wise, it's snorting I really need done. Amongst other factors. Looking on the bright side though the initial response was good and this is an encouraging sign. Myself and Simon are already starting to plan the car based events that March will bring, which is genuinely not far away scarily. Rest assured discussions between the REOs will be seeing you lot spoilt for choice this spring/summer. Despite being lovely and sunny here now this morning was bitter. Frost on the inside of the windows of the car this morning. Again many apologies.

thoughts on this cambelt kit and tensioner?
Reproduction 60k service kits are notoriously poor quality for these cars. Can belts won't line up properly, pumps fail etc etc, it's just not the kind if thing to cheap out on. I'd dare to say it would be safer to put your service off than use a kit like that probability wise. I know the proper kit isn't cheap but it will be done then for the foreseeable future.

My Z is sick..........
Agreed, you need to keep posting. That way we can follow what your doing to help. Think of it this way though, if you have one red marble and you throw 100 in the air it's going to take a lot of time to find it again looking at one at a time. Not only that it's disheartening. So the way to do things is form a plan and work through it. Start right from the beginning. It's an engine so we need a squirt a squeeze and a bang. Once we know that's happening we need to check it's happening at the right time and that the information is being given correctly. So let's just work through logically that way you won't be pulling your hair out. Have you got compression? Yes Have you got an engine running on all six cylinders? Do you have the correct timing? Does your TPS read correctly? Do you have any error codes from the ECU test? Do you have any boost leaks and is the vaccum induction system assembled together correctly? Do you have correct fuel pressure? Get it hooked up to conzult and see what all the sensors are doing. I'd give you a hand but A I'm very busy ATM and I'm currently about 7 hours away and will be for a little while.

My Z is sick..........
I still maintain you need to do a boost leak test. The amount of vac leaks and mistakes you've found already screams you need to start at the bottom and work up. Did you ever do a compression or sniff test? You can keep chasing connectors etc but you won't get far unless you just strike it lucky. You've got to make a plan and work from top to bottom.

Poorly zed
Did you crack the plastic end tank? I thought it was going to be the rubber hose down there but that makes perfect sense. If I were you id replace it with a second hand stock for now give you some space and time to work out what you want. FMIC vs SMIC is a classic debate and there's more options and cheaper solutions than first present themselves.

Motorbike in Cycle Lane....
Sorry to see this. Struggling to quite see what happened though. It sounds like the cycle lane business is the detail to persue. You may wish to check up on undertaking as far as the law is concerned, the offence was omitted in about 1972 to allow people to legal filter through traffic. It advises to pass on the right, ie as long as it's safe it's not an offence, if it's unsafe it become due care and attention or some other. Look that up, that's what I've been told. However if he was passing on the inside on a non motor vehicle lane that's not due care and attention is it? Not in my book anyway. It is also a fair point if a push bike had been doing the same you would be at fault. I wish you all the best but I can see how it could become tit for tat and complex.

Poorly zed
Welcome to the eternal z problem, getting them off the floor. Drive it up on some bricks or 2x4, you will then be able to get a kick under there.

Poorly zed
You won't build positive boost in neutral, the engine mustunder load to do this. Is that the car pulsing the idle like that or you? It is possible you've created a boost leaan inspection for any obvious, this allow metered air to escape and cause the black and rough running. It's worth checking connections for things like the air idle valve near the battery and the ECU coolant temp sensor. Sounds like you gave herca good jolt.

Nearly fell out my chair this morning.
I see them virtually all the time, I saw my first one about five years ago. Since that the population has exploded. Spending all day outside very quietly allows you to see what most just don't.

Nearly fell out my chair this morning.
I was watching the world go by this morning, when over my right shoulder an eruption of noise and water occurs breaking the silence and scaring the living day lights out if me. Bear in mind I'm sat on a small peninsula of mud with about 6-10 ft of ice cold flood water around me. It turns out to be a group if otters. Ignore my creepy "I can hear you breathing" statement as I pull out my phone and they scatter. Before I pulled my phone out they were less than 5 feet away. I see them all the time but they don't normally explode out the water under my nose. Anyway enjoy;

Got given a lecture by a cyclist this morning......
I was an extremely keen cyclist in my late teens early 20s, not road cycling that's boring. Sorry if anyone is into road cycling but it's the worst discipline and the people who do it are often the worst cyclists. YOU are NOT in the Tour de France, your too slow for starters and for seconds it's an open public highway not a racetrack that means cycling 2-3 or even 7 abreast whilst you jostle to place all the while ignorant to the tailback your causing because it's a national speed limit road and your barely doing 30mph! Road cycling has become very popular over the last few years, the new golf apparently in terms of social networking. It's horrendously expensive for a good bike and as I say in my opinion bloody boring. Give me trails any day it's akin to a "fun run" IMO.
