  1. Oh right didn't realise he did stuff like that. Where was that advertised?
  2. I might get away with this, I'm off that Thursday and Friday as the fishing season begins on the Thursday. Madams off work atm so I might be able to wangle the day out. Put me down as a maybe.
  3. Tesco. There's more than that chunk. Google the ariel view.
  4. I must admit I sat there for 5-10 minutes eating a sandwhich, thinking about the race cars with those old engines thundering their large displacement long stroke engines round the banking. Would of been a real sight in its day.
  5. I seem to remember you affectionately calling them "shit catchers".
  6. I agree but once you see how much it's been butchered and built around you see how unworkable that is. - - - Updated - - - It's something that did cross my mind. Good place for a meet.
  7. It is indeed the historic Brooklands circuit. This random chunk of it is inter sliced with modern roads. The museum was a stones throw away.
  8. Il let it run a little while before I confirm. Yes a banked race track Russ.
  9. Rolling along as I do for work I do occasionally find some cool stuff by accident. Today I found this; So let the guessing commence...it's Motorsport related. Hellraiser is exempt as he already knows the answer.
  10. This is when I can tell you've never met him. He's pretty noisey, you can't miss him when he arrives. Really? You found no reference?
  11. How has that escaped you? He never shuts up about the bloody thing
  12. Think that's my winter project this year.
  13. With proper tools you will be fine.
  14. Pattern parts are available through Zcentre. That's the best way to go if you have the dosh, ensures a perfect fit. I made my own pieces but it was a bit of a faff. Matching the stone chip is a nightmare as well.
  15. The arch lip on those is double or is it triple thickness. Rock hard. I mate has the same age Beemer and the arch lips are massive.
  16. Yeah the pitted effect below the swage line is factory. The sills are covered in a thick rubber type material as a stone chip gaurd. The bumpers it's moulded into the plastic to match. You will notice if you look underneath it carries on throughout the whole underside.
  17. Corse the margin for error is higher but you could say the same for welding in the stock unit. Unless it's placed properly.
  18. Not tube Ali, box section. An ogblong or whatever they call it these days.
  19. Oh I'm getting itchy trigger finger thinking about it.
  20. I must admit I'd be going this way myself. Price new is crazy, and I'd take a lump of new metal any day. I know it's not original, you can't tell though, it's not like it's visible. A proper soild job well executed beats sticking some old thing in there. Probably be easier to weld in as well as you could spec a thicker material (it's gonna be let's face it) then simply blast it in. Your not going to burn through 2mm box section by accident. Puddle the section in from the inner wing, least you know it will be strong as **** as well.
  21. Looks like you could do with going even further. Be a shame to buy a brand new crossmember them leave surface rust on the chassis rail and inner wing. Shouldn't take too long to drill out the spot welds and pry it out. Good luck, I don't envy you.
  22. Couldn't say for sure, but the boxes widest part is there so I can't see how fitting the box has any impact. Don't forget the oil banjo bolts are different and handed. Iirc that's the one that should have a K on it.
  23. I might have some bad news for you mate, I'm pretty sure you can't remove, refit that with the turbo on. As you unwind it it fouls the exhaust housing.
  24. Creature comforts are pretty low in mine. I don't regret binning the air con, freed up so much room in the bay, I never used it anyway. I'd kill for aircon in my daily though. Sat in traffic on a Friday fighting the tourists to get home it gets hot.
