  1. Whoa!! 30psi?!? That's going to be utterly unbelievable.
  2. Off topic, but I had exactly the same problem. If I'd gone for the SWB I'd be knackered. The main criteria for the zed was, if I can't get at least two guitars in, plus associated gear, I'm not going to buy it (heck, I might have *had* to buy a Supra). Hence I went for the LWB in the end: I've managed to get three acoustic guitars into it before now (one in the boot, two in the back seats), plus amps, leads, music, guitar stands and all the other gubbins. I've also needed to squeeze four people into it a few times now, which *definitely* wouldn't have worked with the SWB. ;) SWB is a bit quicker, which would be nice, but I had to at least nod vaguely in the direction of practicality.
  3. I'd say no. Mine's in much better nick than that (just from the photos) and cost much less. I'd also have to ask, if you're going to spend £4000 on a respray, couldn't you pick a better colour?!? BMW violet for crying out loud?!?.
  4. Yeah, although I guess there's no reason that a smart sat nav system couldn't take the countours into account to calculate your real speed. Anyone know of one that does this?
  5. That's fine if you did it on a level (and obviously straight) piece of road, however Sat Nav underreads if you're on any kind of gradient (doesn't matter whether you're going up or down)... which is something you need to be aware of if you're approaching a speed camera on a hill. :S
  6. Do it yourself - you know it makes sense. If I can do it anyone can, it's a piece of cake.
  7. Fair enough. I can well believe they cost an absolute bomb. Be great to have one just for zooming around for a day though.
  8. :)) Nice. Porsche is a bit of an obvious photoshop job though.
  9. That's nasty. Used to eat a KFC quite a lot on long motorway trips... but there's no way I'm going there any more.
  10. Great pics. I do have one daft question though: what's the tape on the headlights, indicators and sidelights for? Protection against debris hitting them and shattering them or something?
  11. You have got to be kidding me.
  12. They're lovely. I was actually thinking of getting one before I rekindled my adolescent obsession with the zed. What put me off mainly was the price tag - I could think of loads of better ways to spend the money. This was probably about a year ago when I knew absolutely nothing about how cars actually work. Now I know a bit more, assuming I had the money, I still wouldn't get one (although I do think they look great) because it's front-wheel drive, and... well, rear-wheel drive is just more fun. Just IMHO of course.
  13. Umm... not that I know particularly, but I *seriously* doubt this. My previous car was not a Fiesta, but a Clio (I know, it's a Renault, I know), which is fairly similar in terms of size and not totally dissimilar in handling (I had a go in a mate's Zetec, which it has to be said, was a bit tighter than my Renault, but not hugely). It was a fairly new (1998 new shape) 1.6, and quite nippy for what it was, but there is *absolutely no way on earth* it would either out-corner or out brake my zed (and for sure it wouldn't out-run it), which is a standard TT manual apart from 18" Lenso's. I can throw the zed into a corner at a much higher speed than I would have dared in the Clio. Plus there's the fact that the guy behind the wheel of the Fiesta is hardly likely to have the driving skills of Schumacher or Colin Macrae. I cannot believe this guy found it hard to beat a Fiesta, even on a wet road.
  14. Yeah, I wouldn't want to have to do it. Respect is due.
  15. I'll keep an eye out for you on Wednesday and Thursday. Will be down there.
  16. Must have been right at the beginning of the show as I missed the first 10 minutes. All I saw of the 200 was a quick clip during the end credits. Great Lambo on there though.
  17. Erm... dare I ask what he does for a living to be able to afford that?
  18. Nice. Is that not Mac's car?
  19. It's very true. When you're talking about cars performing at this level so much of it depends on the driver. One thing's for sure though: there's no way *I* could personally do 0-60 in my TT in 5.6 seconds. :)
  20. Yeah, apart from the 450bhp claim, it looks pretty much stock, although you can't really tell too much from that picture.

No mate, go for it. If I had the time I'd do something like that again.
  22. Indeed. I didn't agree with everything he said, but then I could probably say that for most politicians, but he acted with courage and conviction when he needed to. A very able man, and a great loss to the Labour party and politics in this country in general.
  23. OK, my twopence worth. When I drive anywhere at all with motorway roadworks, it's often down to Dorset, and to avoid the traffic I tend to go late at night, or very early in the morning (although I'm not so good at the latter). Consequently I end up hitting the M25 roadworks between the M4 and M3 junctions, complete with about 6 speed cameras. Now this doesn't bother me too much during the day when there's plenty of traffic, and in the narrower lanes it's probably a good idea because it deters all the morons in A4s and BMW 3 series from driving twice as fast as everyone else which would be kind of dangerous. However, at midnight when all I want to do is get where I'm going and go to bed, it seriously gets on my nerves. In fact, at that time of night the 70 limit is taking the mick as far as I'm concerned. The road's empty, and frankly I'd much rather people drove faster and got to their destination earlier, rather than falling asleep at the wheel because they stuck to the speed limit and thereby lengthened their journey by 30 minutes or whatever. When I'm driving at that time of night now I always make sure I get plenty of rest beforehand because I've had one particularly nasty experience where I realised I'd drifted across a lane without realising. Not nice. IMO anything that lengthens a night time journey unnecessarily is a bad thing, and that includes speed traps at roadworks.
  24. Yeah, it's true. The amount of power in any car is only limited by how far you can tune the engine, however from what I understand of the way traction control works (which isn't much I'll freely admit), essentially it controls the amount of power going to the wheels to prevent slippage. So, even if you've got traction control and a 1000hp at the fly wheel on a front-wheel drive car, you're not going to get anything like that going through the wheels because the traction control will have to limit it so much to prevent slippage.
