  1. Fuel economy in the zed is pretty much awful no matter what you do. If you're doing a lot of urban driving I'd say the smart move is to get a runaround and not use the zed everyday, because it's really awful. In fact it's so bad I haven't even bothered calculating it, but I'd estimate at somewhere between 8 and 15mpg (either way, it's rubbish). On longer distances it does better but still not great. I've got the 2+2 TT manual, and on a 200 mile run to my parents (lots of motorways), I got 26.5 mpg out of it, which is only 1.5 mpg less than the quoted value for extra-urban so I was quite happy. However, that's obviously still not great, and if you're doing a lot of driving everyday... I'd still get a runabout (or sell the zed, but you don't really want to do that do you?). The only reason I haven't done this is because, when I'm disciplined, I only use the car once or twice a week. Of course, if you blat it everywhere you're going to get 15 mpg no matter what, so I tend to drive at least reasonably sensibly most of the time, and give it a real hammering only every now and then to keep the fuel bills half sensible.
  2. Have you seen this? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4207202.stm It's going from bad to worse over there. Where are Bush and his merry men?!? They're supposed to be the most powerful nation on the planet, and yet they can't even help their own people in their own country. The slowness of the response to this is shocking... it's like they think they've got all the time in the world.
  3. I've not yet had the pleasure... but I'm sure the time will come. Nyahaha!!! Glad you taught him a lesson.
  4. That might be a goer. This Sunday I'd only be able to make TRAX from sometime in the afternoon onwards (depending how long it takes to get there). Cheers guys, very helpful. Bart
  5. Interesting... I thought the oil capacity was 4.6 litres. You've got me worried now. Bart
  6. Haven't seen one of those things for years. Now that I would be much more interested in owning.
  7. Yeah, maybe you're right. I'll give that some thought.
  8. Thanks Rich... love to go to any one of those, only problem is I'm in the US from 9th - 30th September. Groan... another month is going to go past and I still haven't met anyone face to face. Would definitely do a midlands meet though as I'm kind of halfway between midlands and SE. Thanks for the thought though. Bart
  9. From the States right? I'm over there for a holiday and conference in a week or so and was thinking that if I was going to get one it might be the best place to do it.
  10. Mate, go for it if you want it. You can always sell it again.
  11. Welcome back. Nice colour on the car BTW. Sets off the wheels extremely well. Not normally a fan of gold, but they do look the business.
  12. Excellent. Very stylish.
  13. Seriously, not really my taste, but no doubt a good buy there for whoever wins it.
  14. Blimey, I know there was a fuel crisis back then, but did they really cut corners that much?!?
  15. That's a lovely car, although if it was mine... that spoiler would have to go. I hate 'em. Somebody round here has an orange Pug 306 cabriolet, and it's quite a nice car, but the clown has gone and stuck one of those things on it. Why?!? I must admit it suits that zed much better, but even so, the only cars that style of spoiler looks any good on are F1 cars, and possibly (and this is extremely borderline) 200sx's used for drifting.
  16. Yeah, but I bet you gave a few people on shock on the way! Nice one.
  17. It is true. I have no problems, and if you're just taking one passenger, they're always like, "Wow, there's loads of room in here." It's great: looks good, goes fast, nice and comfortable. I love this car.
  18. Stop it!! You're making me want to go out and get one!!!

Yeah... NSXs... I still do kind of think they're quite cool. But you know that, well certainly the latest version of the NSX (which looks basically the same as the old version), is actually slower 0 - 60 than even the 2+2 TT ZX? I couldn't believe it. There's only about 0.4 seconds in it, but still, I was gobsmacked when I found this out. These are from figures I read on the Sunday Times website with respect to the most recent Optimax cards competition, so may be subject to some dispute I imagine.
  20. Not to mention the fact that it's been 10 months (10 months!!!!) since I joined this forum, and I subscribed in March or something daft like that.
  21. I've been busy *every time* there's been a meet within a couple of hours drive, and I was away the weekend of JAE as well. I've had my zed since the end of February. It's getting out of order. I *need* to go to a meet... so is anybody planning to go the the SE meet at the Dick Turpin on Sunday?
  22. 6'2''. Took two of my colleagues to lunch at the pub a few weeks back, both of whom are about the same height as me. Fortunately it was a nice day so I had the roof off, as the guy in the front had his head sticking out of the top (generally I encourage people not to sit behind me unless there's no other option because it gets very uncomfortable for anything but the shortest journeys).
  23. I have to admit though, that despite my disdain for over-hyped marketing campaigns, the PSP does look cool.

Yeah, that video is great. I assume it was Gio's zed that won? With a boost leak etc? Never been challenged by anyone in a 350Z yet, it's mainly scoobies (and a lot of vastly inferior cars), and whilst that was fun for the first week or two the novelty's definitely worn off. Can't believe some dude in an early 90s Golf GTI with an unbelievably fat exhaust even tried it on a month ago. Needless to say I just let him go -- it's just not worth the petrol. But anyway, back to the point. The Z32 is definitely king of the zeds as far as speed goes, although the 240 is a lovely car... and TBH the 350 is nice too. As with Clarkson's video, I imagine the Top Gear episode shows that where the older version of the car is faster, it's probably because the new version is heavier.
