92 tt should be tested to 3.5% co and 1200 p.p.m. hydrocarbons, looks like mot station has bet ( basic emissions test ) yours which they shouldnt have done, car will not pass a bet test without cats being fitted, but only 300zx's after 95 require the bet test anything before that is older type test.

dont need to fit fibre glass doors or anything like that plenty of soleniod kits on ebay you can get them with remote control or hidden buttons just make sure you get kit with heavy duty solenoids , rated at about 40 lbs pull if i remember right. you might need to fit poppers i think they call them,small spring loaded gizmo,s that push the door open available on ebay as well . hth.

yep got an ebay pulley no probs so far, can see the need for a well balanced pulley with the original cast steel one cause its so heavy (about 8-9 kilos iirc) but with the lightened alloy one being so much lighter (1.5 kilos) it could be quite a bit out before having any affect, saying that idealy pulleys of any weight should be balanced.

i think the real problem with mechanics is the fact that a lot of them are trained technicians, theyre trained to do specific jobs on specific cars and not tought how to apply their experience to other things, had six lads through opur workshop in eight months all apparently trained to various standards of mechanical apptitude, all not much good, worst one, lad with 3 years expierience had 4 cars come back with slack wheel nuts, he also had certificates for various courses 1 of which was brake servicing , didnt know how to change a brake cylinder also didnt know that all moving parts should be cleaned and copper greased where appropriate, a good mechanic should with access to right info and equipement be able to fix anything from a monkey bike to a bugatti veyrone.

you,l need something a bit tougher than a broom handle mate , bit of steel bar and a hammer to break the cats out theyre pretty tough things .

sounds like examiner was looking to fail it he,s supposed to run engine at 3000 rpm for about 30 seconds to purge exhaust, doing this would normaly clear any smoke in my experience, in ten years of testing ive only failed 2 cars for excessive smoke and they both had obviously worn engines .

in fact looking at skirts more closely they dont look right for the 300 at all.

most fibre glass skirts , spoilers etc will require some work to get them to fit properly ,spoiler you you have would fit with a bit of work, skirts i think are for a short wheel base 300 and your car would be a 2+2 , other spoiler your looking at might be a better fit but will probably still need work to get a good fit.

jap speck no rust whatsoever its the salt on british roads that rots them waxoil them death as soon as you get them saves a lot of work in later years.

yep for moy purposes it would be deemed that fog light adversely affects brake light. lighting regs allow for fog to be combined with tail light so mot regs must comply with lighting regs.

you cant fail something because you think it is going to fail sometime in the near future you can only fail items that at the time of testing meet the specified criteria for a fail , you cant fail a balljoint for a split gaitor either.

brake /fog combination not allowed tail/ fog combination ok for mot.

weeping bushes are not an mot failure only reasons to fail bushes is for excessive play/ movement or excessive deterioration of bonding between bush material and steel components of bush. if examiner fails bush for leaking ask him to show you where in testers manual it shows a weeping bush as a failure. should be a pass and advise only.

yep you got it slightly smaller main pulley normaly made from aluminium so quite a bit lighter as well helps with power gains.

got these as well good quality they come close to the sump pan on the auto but dont touch no probs with them so far.

maidstone used to be a nightmare on sat nights think it was cause ther were two seperate regiments there and things would kick off whenever they bumped into each other, been a long time since ive been down that way tho 10 years probably more so probably calmed down a bit now, used to have coppers in full riot gear out on weekends. worked in poole on a couple of occasions but never got the chance of a night out there seemed like an ok place tho. trying to fit carbon splitter and side skirts inbetween rain showers just know.

would be up for that but a bit skint after paying out for insurance,tax, etc. got a full tank for the night tho. gonna be in maidstone sometime before end of year visiting sister, gonna try and time it with some of club meets down that way maybe get a chance to meet up then, are the pubs in maidstone still full o scrappin squaddies.

sounds like valve stem seals to me, vacume in manifold is suckin g oil in at tickover and on overrun when vacume in manifold is highest, had s beemer which did exact same as this, take it up to about 120 and lift off throttle and it would lay down a smoke screen 007 would have been proud of otherwise it would smoke slightly when cold and give slight smoke on g/changes and overrun when driven gently.
