  2. work on my z has slowed down to a snails pace just cant seem to get the incentive to get out in the shed and work on her anymore, so i thought i'd put up some pics see what you guys think so far. car has been stripped back to just about a bare shell, everyhing waxoiled, subframes powder coated and polybushes fitted everywhere needed.
  3. Mot

agree with jimmer on that one knocking engine would be a refuse to test situation.
  4. info here http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/index.htm tells you all you need to know about transfering reg no.s , car needs to be legaly on the road to take no. off i.e. you need mot, tax and insurance.
  5. Hi just wondering has anyone converted theyre z to electric power steering pump. if so was what problems did you have if any . thanks. Lee.
  6. insulator isnt metalic magnet wont pick it up, bit of pipe attached to vacume cleaner and suck it out that normaly works.
  7. did mine myself as well, as long as theres no damage to impellors you dont need to rebalance them its just a case of marking everything before you take it apart so you can put it back together with everything n same place. thers acouple o people doing parts/kits on ebay, kits with 360 bearings and step gap rings approx £70 and you can get them balanced for approx £30.
  8. jimmers right most direct route to and from test station, but yo can book it in at any test station in the country. and you can still get done for not displaying a valid excise license.
  9. as ronnie5 says give it a good run that should help a lot, did battery go flat or did you disconnect it while car was off road if so its probably reset ecu and it will need a good run for ecu to sort itself out, also petrol can go off if left to sit too long,if thatsthe case then a good fill of v max and a good injector cleaner will probably sort it, coud still be other things though and a properly running z should be able to pass a cat test even though it doesnt need to for mot.
  10. unless your cars younger than a 95 model it should pass at 3.5% co,3.5% is the max allowed, sounds like your tester might be testing your car to wrong limits , a pre 1995 z gets tested to older limits and not a cat test.
  11. side lights and dip beam including dim dip must be separate to pass mot.
  12. seen 175 on the clock and still pulling strong at that.
  13. its on steering rack drivers side where steering columb connects to rack.
  14. i would check wiring, connectors and solenoid first, solenoids can be good for breaking down when they get hot ,couple of miles driving and some cool air over soleniod cools it down and it starts working again.
  15. does your speedo work properly if it does then faults probably somewhere else.
  16. always thought they were a standard fitment both my z's had the 300kph dials when i got them.
  17. you can if youve got the right speedo to start with ie 300kph
  18. injectors,remap/chip to suit injectors, bigger turbo's, better intercoolers and if you want it all to stay reliable an engine rebuild with uprated pistons, conrods, headgaskets etc probably need to upgrade clutch as well if you got one.other bits you might need depending on condition of originals, fuel pump, fuel regulator, ignition coils, engine wiring harness probably missed something in there but im sure someone will let you know.
  19. no aftermarket pipes dont have them and they dont cause any problems.
  20. would have thought that this should be down to paving company they are supposed to know all regulations.wouldnt have called lock block paving non porous water will drain through gaps around blocks and blocks are laid on a bed of sand.
  21. the bigger part of the pad is the part closer to centre of disc. they have made the pads wider to reach the normaly untouched part of the disc.

most decent painters up this way are charging about £200 a panel. your better to get a few quotes and also check on the quality of their work ask to see something theyv'e just done.
  23. booger binned two of them didnt think anyone would want them.
  24. first snow of the winter today,so glad i ust bought an astra td for winter runaround no sliding around in the z for me this year.
