Aston martin db9 470bhp 1700kg versus my 470bhp 1450kg zed
443lb/ft of torque for the Aston 0-60 4.6secs (claimed) 190mph flat out.. Don't think I'd be too far off that acceleration, up to 100 anyway...

My money is on the Zed for sure... Please make sure you make a video of the inevitable showdown so we can all have a laugh on you tube. Thing is though, which would you rather have?

My KITT Replica
(snigger) 1 man can make a replica? one, two, three, four... (snigger) Can you send the car out to get a pack of fags from the 24hr garage when you're slumbering in your pants? Now that would be useful!

who is the richest person you know?
Hmmm, best hope the wife doesn't log in here then!!! I don't know any really rich people, but I know a lot of happy people - and we all know money can't buy happiness.. (what a load of *****cks!) My best mate stands to inherit a small fortune when his dad passes on (hopefully no time soon) - has a home in Canada and an Island in the Carribean (yes, an island) he drives an 20 yr old Ford F150! If i were rich, I'd have a different Lambo for everyday of the week, a girlfriend half my age (oh, that's nearly the case now...:tt1:) and sail around the globe on my massive yatch. Then die from alcohol poisoning 5 years later... Probably..

Audi tt/ boxtser / S2000.
Wouldn't overlook the boxster.. Yes it looks the same when reversing as going forward, and yes, the image is a bit er... questionable. But if you believe everything that you read (and I do) then the boxster is the best drivers car. And the only reason its so slow is cos porsche wanted it to be - very tunable (but then, so are the others). I think everyone has discounted the TT which is probably about right. Not that quick and not very nice to drive (I've had personal experience with TT's). But as you said - test drive a few examples befor making up your mind. Or buy a Zed convertible?:whistling:

remote engine start and turbo timers...advice please.
Am I right in thinking 'bore-wash' only occurs at idle? Otherwise it would happen even when moving, right? So on that basis you could sit there blipping the throttle (not redlining it, obviously) and avoid 'bore-wash'? Oui? Non?:saddam:

remote engine start and turbo timers...advice please.
HAve to say I'm a bit surprised by this.. Would seem logical to allow your engine to build some heat befor putting it under load. As the adverts say - most engine wear occurs within the first few minutes of starting the engine befor the oil has time to warm up and cling to the moving parts.. Surely putting it under load during those times will only make things worse? I've heard many different things about what you should and shouldn't do with an engine, many of them contradictary - I'm no expert either - but I think common sense is the way forward. Remote engine start sounds like a good idea in winter, to avoid those hands-stuck-to-the-wheel icy starts! But if they invalidate your insurance I'd think twice about fitting one and not telling them - what if they find out? Turbo timers are also a good idea - but both can be driven around and are not essential. Don't thrash your motor until up to temp and take it easy for the last few miles (i.e: plan ahead!). Try getting up a bit earlier and giving yourself longer to make journeys - you'll also feel less stressed and not have to worry about cooking your turbos! Do I sound old? I just heard my dad then... cheers

Update on my saga
Did you spend £15k on the engine alone or the car as a whole? I've seen the spec sheet for your engine and it looks well tasty.. Have negotiated a good price for one of my Kidnies, so could be interested:lol: Does this mean that the insurance company are giving you nowt then? And how did the police find it - normally you have to find it then tell the police where it is (well that's my experience anyway)... Gutted for ya - maybe its time to try something different and rekindle your passion for motoring with something else?

my final tuning session with steve at fc tuning
Thanks Yassa - Whats your rev limit set at? Looked like about 8k? Makes me wince when i see those kinda revs - probably cos I drive a diesel most of the time.. 8k pretty standard fare for these motors?
-
my final tuning session with steve at fc tuning
Thanks for explaining that to me... Still learning! Sounds like Yassa must be sailing close to the wind then - hope his engine doesn't go pop:scared: Yassa - were you advised it was quite a volatile state of tune - what did your man at the tuning place tell you. Not trying to start a 'who knows best' thing here, but just curious as a novice to all this..:whistling:

popping through exhaust
 I'm pretty sure my mate wouldn't have risked an engine he's spent many thousands tuning just so he can enjoy a bit of snap, crackle and pop. My main point was that the car may be set up to do this on purpose and to my knowledge that wouldn't necessarily kill the engine. So - it might be nothing to do with a failing part, pipe etc - hence why I suggested getting a proper diagnosis done. And when I get my engine mapped I'm going to ask for enough overfuelling on the overun to use the exhaust as a grenade launcher:tt2: Stick a fork in me - I'm done

Thoresby Show.
How many cars/people attend? Take it you leave the Zed in the car park? Could be tempted - weather permitting:boat:
