  1. Good call.. Can you get those for a grand nowadays?:detective:
  2. what's the missus liking / disliking? If she was up for looking at a Saab but not a MGF then its going to be difficult to guess. What's most important: driving pleasure, cost of ownership, reliability etc etc.. If you're after something 200bhp and rear wheel drive.. and manual.. then its probably gonna have to be some old bimmer 328 or similar. Or maybe a 200sx (probably a bit too expensive). What about an mkI MX5/Eunos Roadster? Or does it need 4 seats? Cheers
  3. Just realised that its says 'photography' and not 'pornography'... Havn't got anything to say now. 4th picture down is pic of the buch I would say. Nicely framed shot with nice contrast between detailed foreground and blurry background. Make sure you get some nice autumninal pics of your Zed down a country lane with some lovely reds and yellows - definitely the best season for a budding photographer. Anyone nr Leicester with a decent camera fancy helping me get some pics of my zed? Cheers
  4. My experience of MR2s is that they stick like the 'proverbial' to a blanket!! Took a mkII rev 2 for a 'test drive' and was amazed how well it hung on, not sure I'd fancy trying to slide one, but I guess with a bit of familiarity and confidence you could. Looking forward to seeing your V8 finished - was considering popping over on sunday to see how things were going, but after reading your thread I can see that its probably going to be finished very soon, so I will wait another week or so, then come over for a bit of a play - hopefully we can find some, ahem, 'private land' then! Good luck with the MOT Nick Cheers
  5. Take it you missed Stellaz thread on Group B then... They were the days! Wanted: 'New driving opportunity for team focused candidate. Must have suicidal tendancies and a complete disrespect for his/her own safety. A critical aspect of this position will be keeping your foot planted firmly to the floor despite travelling at huge speeds at spectators directly in front of you. Must have balls of steel.'
  6. Please enlighten us, oh learned one!
  7. Righty then. Money no object obviously.... - VG38dett from R35 GTR + transmission and rear diff - R35 GTR hubs, shafts and brakes - standard body panels replicated in carbon fibre - Gunmetal Grey - full race interior with Stax digital instrument binnacle - Fully stressed strut to strut roll cage for structural rigidity - Hydraulic operated rear wing (a la Veyron) to mimic 89 spec - Rota GTR alloys 18" - Nitrous (lots of it) When I find that bloody ticket from Firday's Euro draw I'll get on to Sumo Power and get things rolling...
  8. You really need to spend more 'quality time' with your missus!!:whistling:
  9. Absolute Fascist. Your boss was pi55ed cos he can't get it up and his missus is thinking about shagging their neighbour's son:ohmy: No doubt there was some drawn out lecture on the company image and how it just wouldn't do to have cool as fook skid marks all over the car park. Good on ye son, next time do it outside his house!!!:whistling:
  10. I have Sunny tyres on the rear of my car and they are lethal - especially after dry spells when it starts drizzling. Ive spun the wheels in fourth but generally I have given up trying to go quick, by the time I get to 5th... Needless to say the performance of your car probably is epic, but decent tyres would tie the arse down no end. Makes the biggest difference to your driving experience guaranteed.
  11. How've you been driving? Peddling very quickly i imagine:lol:
  12. Just picked a pair of bulbs up today from my local motor factors Not telling you how much I payed, but I was robbed.. Could never find them in Halfrauds:blink: Have 50% better illumination now too - had sheee-ite Jap blue bulbs since I got it:shuriken: Muchos please-os
  13. For me I'd have the 350z and spend the money I'd saved on a turbo kit or supercharger:yes: Just Youtube it... Goodbye Gallardo:thumbup: cheers
  14. I thought as much, but to clarify Baz did say he was in his skyline when he toasted him. From what I understand the RS6 is a 200mph car unrestricted. Guessing the Skyline was pushing more than 500bhp if that was the case???
  15. I concurr That looks way, way better. Better colour too. Wonder what that car sold for... someone must have got a well soughted motor there.
  16. Thats exactly right. Me and my mate used to go out after midnight to a local industrial estate with 3 roundabouts of various sizes. We would lap around for hrs without seeing another vehicle. Perfect conditions for learning how your car handles. If you can drift on track then thats pretty impressive, but I'm not sure I'd ever try drifting on a highway. I have a few favourite bends where I know I can kick the backend out (pretty safely) but generally I try to stick to out-of-town areas with low traffic density at off-peak times.
  17. A grand buys you so much these days its almost impossible to choose. I was considering buying a car for 1k and was weighing up a few options. The idea was to sorn the zed over winter and let something else get caked in salt. I was pretty determined to get something RWD. I also looked at a few front drivers just for the sensibility of it ('06 Astra SRi Turbo). I liked the idea of a Lexus LS400 on about a p reg. Probably upwards of 150k miles but, by all accounts, they can do inter-galactic mileage no bother. Only problem is they're a 4l V8, so pretty thirsty. Very well built tho. There's no end of BMW's for that money but the old, old... old shape 5 series with the twin round headlamps (E36?) is meant to be a cracking car, built when BMW's were actually made of metal and not recycled biscuit tins.. Either a 525 petrol or diesel should be fun.. And then i saw you could also buy a Lexus Soarer (JZ2 Twin Turbo anyone?) for that money too. Or an old skool Toyota Supra. In the end I decided all the cars I was looking at were potential black holes, financially. So I decided I'd just borrow the girlfriend's Clio 1.2 sport (1k, coincidentally) if it got salty on the roads instead. Decisions, decisions
  18. Really Baz? An RS6 and M5? They're 580bhp and 500bhp (or 400 for the last gen) respectively. Thats mightily impressive hardware - nice one! I once rolled up next to an E46 M3 on the M180, all blacked out - paint, alloys and windows (looked like darth vaders helmet!). I pulled alongside and gave him the 3-2-1 gesture, to which he mouthed 'kids are in the back!" so I carried on my way and left him to it. Was gutted, was trying to find out how fast they were befor I had a showdown with my mate in his M3 (turns out they're not as quick as my Zed). When i'm in my van I see 911's, Astons, Evo's etc etc, but when i'm in my Zed its always the Tesco Carpark Crew. Would love for someone just to try it on, if conditions allowed, so I could toast em. Not sure about an RS6 though, think I would probably do the 'I can't see you' straight ahead stare...
  19. No, no and no... Looks like a ram raid job on Halfrauds. Wing mirrors are a bit chavy, the nose panel doesn't sit right and the bonnet isn't quite right either. The (optional) bumper doesn't do justice to the car's natural lines. On the plus side - the side aspect works well, i like the the way its recessed just above the door handle and how that marries in with the front and rear wings. The fact the car is 1cm off the tarmac also flatters the appearance, but would look less impressive if the ride height was practical. The rear wing doesn't match IMO, but with the variety of choice there I think that could easily be remedied. A twinz rear diffuser would finish it off nicely too.. I think its got great potential, but for 2.5 grand I'd expect it to be absolutely perfect and have much more of a factory look (as in, it all works in harmony and not cheap). No doubt my name isn't going to get on the Lottery list..
  20. When i got my zed it idled at about 700rpm - and was pretty throbby too. When it was at Zedworld for its 1st check over, Jamie adjusted it to about 900rpm at which point it was perfectly smooth and stopped throbbing - but compared to my old skyline (which idled smoothly at 600rpm) it did seem a tad high - but then, who am I to say so. Depends what you're used to i guess. Don't think it constitutes a problem from what i've seen though. cheers
  21. Looks good J, Hope its a good en. Good luck with it! Cheers
  22. Have to disagree with you on this one. My car still has HICAS but is very predictable - lets go smoothly and is easy to hold at an angle. This may because I have the cheapest rear tyres known to man which are fine in the dry but rubbish in the wet (4th gear wheelspin is not uncommon). My old skyline was good fun in the wet, but having no LSD it was difficult to keep slides going without a bootful of throttle to keep the rears unstuck. The Zed on the other hand is superb. I've done two full revolutions of a roundabout sideways, with a minimum of fuss - no hacksawing at the wheel, just nice and steady using the torque of the engine to adjust my line. It fairness the Zed is a bit more intimidating than the skyline was, due to its size and particularly its girth - but I would say its a fine handling car below and above the limits of traction. That said, I have been doing this kinda thing a while and didnt try anything exciting until I was comfortable with the car (i.e: after a couple of months of sensible driving). As Sky89 says - its probably advisable to learn how your car handles beyond the limit, before you're in an emergency situation. My advice is keep your speed well down to start with and get a good understanding of the basics - find somewhere quiet and away from other road users too. But most of all, enjoy your car and respect its potential.
  23. R.I.P Omega... Always fancied a MV6, a very versatile car - great for taking lots of people and luggage long distances, but thats another subject. Was driving around a soggy Milton Keynes the other day in my Astravan thinking 'if only I had my Zed'... I'm seriously considering moving there just for all those lovely large-radius roundabouts:tongue_smilie: Nice one guys:thumbup:
  24. Seen a few 'oh my god, my car oversteers' threads in recent weeks.. From the sounds of it, most were brown-trouser moments, not what was intended etc. Which perplexes me really. Ever since my first RWD car (Omega 2.5TD) i've been utterly converted to the realm of steering with the rear axle as much as the front. The thought of owning a private FWD box makes me shudder with discomfort. Its not that FWD can't be fun, but there's nothing like a modest serving of oversteer to get the heart beating. I'd almost assumed that everyone on here would be similarly converted to this line of thinking. Im guessing I'm wrong on that one? As I'm writing this I've just returned from a 45 minute tour of my favourite roundabouts and industrial estates (and no, I wasn't dogging). How many others out there indulge in this somewhat illicit pleasure? I don't advocate dicking about on her majesty's highway, but I think if you are responsible you should be able to enjoy driving your car (god knows it costs enough for us lot). Don't get me wrong - I didn't watch Tokyo Drift and start doin doughnuts in Tesco's car park, but a little fun is what these cars is all about, no? How do you lot get your driving kicks? Cheers
  25. No doubt its her great acting ability that draws you to her!! Nothing to do with the fact she's fit as... :censored: hmmm... what was that about having a big bang?:tongue_smilie:
