  1. Are you actually being serious? This is bonefied 100% guaranteed...
  2. Firstly thank you! (It looks even better now with the little tweaks I've made - will have to update my profile pics) As for top speed runs, so far I've not had the bottle to top 140mph. I've got a wee nick in the sidewall of my tyre and whilst I'm sure its fine at normal speeds I don't wanna risk a high speed blow out. I think if you use common sense in these situations you should be alright. Unfortunately I don't know any private roads in my area, but the M69 is a good straight piece of tarmac - late at night its deserted, so if you wanted to you could pretty safely Vmax there. I wouldn't recommend it, but as you rightly pointed out, most of us will at some point have the urge to get the boot down. As long as you don't risk anybody else's life then I'm cool with that. If you get caught, expect not to drive again for a long time!! This air field idea is a good idea though - who else has done one?
  3. ...and what gearbox... and what revs were you pulling?
  4. Would be good to go for a little convoy somewhere - just so other people can gawp and stare! What with Cov being so central I would suggest we meet there, then its a case of choosing between A46/M69/M40/A5 etc for a bit of a cruise! Pub and dinner would be cool, but not essential - but preferably not a retail car park! I flexible really - never plan anything too far in advance as I usually forget things. But a few days notice and I'll be there. Rob, Chris, Batman et al, what are your thoughts? cheers
  5. A bloke with a R35 GTR had it done and it didn't even make 12 months befor the bonnet and bumper needed doing again. May as well spray it for that kinda money. Cars look bad enough when you can see the laquer peeling off, let alone when vinyl is peeling off to show a different colour underneath! However, you really can be adventurous with vinyl. so could be fun with a bit of imagination!
  6. Bruntingthorpe has a 2 mile straight right? If a Lambo and a Fezza can do 160+ I imagine your Zed should hit a similar speed. Which diff are you running standard or N/A? Shame its not an auto, cos from what I understand they have the tallest gearing and would give it more to pull at. I'm not sure about my car - after 6500rpm its pretty much out of puff, so thats 156mph theoretically, would hope it will do more than that but really its not important - I'm never gonna use that speed regularly..
  7. Cool stuff, Seems this mini-meet could end up being a mid-meet actually! Lookin forward to it. I'm flexible date/time wise but would prefer to do it while its dry! I suppose sat would be too early for Brillomaster, then again maybe he'll want to show off his new toy:detective: Brillo - why not take the lead and say when and where and we'll work round you? Also, where's your track day on Sunday? Anywhere good?
  8. Excellent - as you said, pics (and/or video) should be posted up immediately so we can have a gander at your new steed. Hope it is a good un. Where did you find it, did anyone have a look at it for you? Only in Leicester, so me, thee and Cov Rob should have a mini-meet once you on the road. Nice one mate
  9. Couldn't find any info either, did find this number though - try giving em a bell. I've been over to Bruntingthorpe a couple of times, just out of curiosity - never been on the runway tho. I'd be well up for a run, so if you have any luck let us know... 0116 247 8030 - Bruntingthorpe proving ground:phone:
  10. What the... Not again. WHen I saw the 'coming september' covers in Asda I thought it was too good to be true. But then November seemed more probable. But now December. I have absolutely no faith in them any more. If it didnt look so damn good I would make a silent protest and refuse to buy the game. But unfortunately I'm an addict waiting for my next hit:blink:
  11. :w00t:Please tell us some more about the JAG! Love the old XJ's and XJS's - you got any pics? Remember the old Lister 7.0l XJS's? They were awesome things. Feel free to devote an entire new thread to it!!:w00t:
  12. Sounds like an air/fuel mix problem - could be a number of things. Can you get your car to a Zed specialist. Sure they would diagnose it quite quick if it was something straight forward.
  13. Er righto... Bigger turbo's running higher boost use less fuel - Fact. I read it here first! Perhaps your engine is just a bit tight and the losses through internal friction are really high. If the tests done seem to suggest the fuel/air mixture is satisfactory and you aren't driving the car like a 17yr old, then there could be something causing a loss of efficiency between engine and wheels. Have you made sure you're releasing the handbrake before setting off?
  14. TBH I took offence at the way that you asked for the other thread to be closed. People were trying to help you - even if they weren't actually getting to the cause of what your high consumption was. Anyway - I won't clog up this thread with this. :offtopic:
  15. He wanted the thread closed because we weren't able to diagnose exactly what the cause of his high fuel consumption is. The fact that on another thread he's going on about having uprated turbos and 'well over 400bhp' should be a big clue. If the turbos are pushing more air, then the engine will need more fuel. Even with only a modest understanding of the combustion process this much should be obvious. Some people....
  16. Do you reckon it will help you lap quicker? I always struggled to get close to the times in time trial comps - I could get in the top 100, but was still always a few secs off the ultimate pace. I couldn't understand how they were doing it, even if i downloaded their replays.. I always told myself it was because I didn't have a steering wheel! Roll on November - I'm predicting I'm gonna be ill for at least a fortnight when it comes out:ohmy:
  17. My old skyline was N/A and bullit proof too. 4 yrs and not a single problem (apart from a dead sparrow in the air box which was very odd). Hope the next 2 yrs are as problem free!
  18. So true! Nothing like tempting fate is there! Nice to see a thread like this though 'I've had my Zed 20yrs and its never broke down once' etc etc. Lets see more of them eh!
  19. Does it actually bother you (or worry you) that the wheels spin? I find it keeps me on my toes and to treat the car with respect. Its kinda nice to have a bit of a challenge. That said, you don't want to get bitten somewhere down the line - best not to overdo it when its wet, eh!:cool3:
  20. Can't believe you started another thread about high fuel consumption after reading this thread.... Not only that, you blatantly spat the dummy when people couldn't give you a precise answer based on a very brief synopsis. Totally uncool - dude:no:
  21. Seems funny that N/A motors aren't getting significantly better MPG than TT's. I can get 300+ from a tank without getting the yellow light on, on a long motorway journey at 80-85.. Even when I'm caning it, I still get 200 from a tank. Are you sure your brakes aren't seized!!! cheers
  22. Wasn't long ago that a car identical to that, was being advertised for best part of £10k on pistommyface.com. Seems to be a huge disparity between prices. Not very often you see someone undervalue a car though, most of the time its people foolishy thinking that cos it cost the same as a ferrari to run, then it must resale like one too!
  23. Saw this on pistonpetrol.com and thought it looked a bit of a bargain.. Either its stolen or has a gearbox full of sawdust or somethin, surely? What you lot reckon? http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2147890.htm Also saw this - http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2132472.htm - hope its no-one on here, just read the text... (think someone got their 5yr old to write the add for them..)
