Job Advice
Being in the right place definitely helps.. I'd get out of Dorset if I wanted to increase my opportunities for employment. Even if I had to sleep in a cardboard box for a bit. The south east is full of opportunities, unfortunately its also full of people from the south east too :tt2: Volunteer work/work experience will pay dividends down the line as ellodave rightly says - infact, it could very well be the difference between getting a job or not.. But I appreciate that very few people can afford to work for free.

A few mods to make my car quicker
Cheap ways of getting more power only turn expensive later... You didn't mention it, but I assume you've got an aftermarket intake? What about your exhaust? If not, start there - you can wind your turbos up all you want but if the air cant pass through the engine then you'll acheive very little. Also what engine management have you got. If you get it chipped by someone who knows these cars well, then you can easily liberate another 50hp possibly more. If you have got all of those, then you're running out of options really, an EBC would help but you'll not be doing your engine any favours. Remember a 300hp engine that works is far better than a 400hp engine thats gone bang. Talking of figures - Yassa got over 400hp from his car running mainly stock components, so there is potential there - but you have to be 100% sure your engine is in good health - otherwise... And - don't get too bothered just because someone in a Cossie whupped yo ass, you don't know what power or mods they are running. It doesn't matter how much power you have, there is always, always someone with more - unless you have a very small third leg, I wouldn't worry too much about this..

Job Advice
There's no easy way to say this guys, life sucks sometimes. Way too many people go to uni these days expecting to walk straight into a 25k a year job. The reality is it just doesn't happen. If you've got no work experience and an unproven track record, then employers are naturally going to be wary. There's enough people WITH experience looking for jobs, so the odds are stacked against you. After uni I spent 6 months in Sunny Scunny working in a microwave meal factory unitl I had saved up a deposit to rent a house in Leeds. I then did 6 months of door to door sales working for a pyramid sales company, working on 100% commission :death: Then I spent 18 months working in call centres for BG - truly the most demoralising job ever - but after 12 months I was promoted into a specialist team and out of the general call centre, which was a lot better. Then I got a opportunity to be a tug skipper (not sea based, but inland waters) :boat:. Working for the same company I got involved with marine construction :hammer:. Then I was made into a charge-hand, then a foreman and eventually (after 8 years) into site manager/contracts manager :red_indian:. I'm not trying to bore you to death or anything, but my point is - I didn't go to Uni to get any of these jobs. I didn't need to go to Uni to get any of these jobs. I just did whatever I had to, to pay the bills and earn a crust. It wasn't what I wanted to do - I wanted to be a motoring journalist (car mags etc), but the opportunity never came up, why - cos I had no freakin experience. Which is frustrating as hell when you've just spent 16yrs of your life trying to get an education :smartass: So, be prepared to do whatever it takes - eventually an opportunity will present itself.

Job Advice
Mate, before I started working on a permanent basis I must have had a least a dozen jobs. Some were great, others not so great. Mostly pretty low paid though (this was before minimum wage!). Delivery driving is something just about anyone with a licence can do. The pay is pretty reasonable, but I wouldn't recommend it - its way to stressful with all those Bee Em drivers darn sarf! I like working outside, so I did a lot of farm work too, but not everyone is suited to working long hours every week just for peanuts.. I also worked in a microwave meal factory after finishing uni (really), which wasn't as bad as what I imagined - the craic was what made the job worth doing! Try and avoid work agencies, but these days its hard to do that - best thing you can do is pop down the local job centre and see what floats your boat. Just don't expect too much. If I were you, I'd defo go for the waitering - find a quality restaurant with a high table turnover and turn the charm upto max. I nearly failed my uni course I was living the high life so much!

Job Advice
Permanent job or part time job? When I was at Uni I made a fortune being a waiter, i won't say how much the tax man might be looking, but it took me a good few years in employment to achieve the same (taxable) income! What's your degree going to be in? What jobs have you had previously (part time etc). What do you enjoy doing, most importantly!

Have to take the Zed off the road.
Yeah, sorry to hear this bud. I'm sure a lot of people on here can sympathise with this - even if you have a job at the moment, there's no guarantees. You might just have to do anything you can to get by at the moment, but stick in there, don't loose heart and something will come up eventually - just don't give up. Sometimes things happen for a reason - when you land the job of your dreams a few months down the line, you'll look back and see things differently. But I doubt that is any consolation at the moment. Look on the positive side though mate - you're young, have good health and a roof over your head. And there's enough Zed members within reach of you who can deliver a shot of VG30DETT medication should you require it. Good luck mate, hopefully you'll get things back on track soon! :gunsmilie:

slicktop project
Your wife must be very understanding Bob! Don't worry about the 200mph - if you ever get it up to 198, I'm sure you're not going to be bothered by those 2 last remaining miles per hour.. I think you're target should've been 300 all along.. km/h that is! In which case you'll smash it! Which makes this a positive and not a negative! Good luck with the improvements

Best brake upgrade Z32
I thought a rwd car would have a bit more rear bias like 60/40 front/rear.. Guess you don't have to be quite so lavish with the rear spec in that case!
-
600zx - Finally back to work....
I wouldn't have a clue, but I reckon the torque would be more than that. But I know its delivered very low down, so then again, you could be right! 401rwhp 450lb/ft :gunsmilie:

Best brake upgrade Z32
Is that right - brake balance 70/30 front/rear? Quite suprised by that!
-
advice please - fitting rubber bushes
you don't really want to use any oil based product on rubber, the two don't mix. Fairy liquid is a good lubricant for rubber and plastic..

600zx - Finally back to work....
Awesome! Well done Nick, must have seemed like you were never going to get to this point at times! But you hung in there - results speak for themselves, once I get mine back on the road (hopefully not too long now) we can go racing! I mean, driving sensibly well within the designated speed limits in a mature manner.. :innocent: Good luck for today, i'm guessing your estimate was a little on the conservative side????

3k miles and headgasket fault?
Did the Nuremberg Ring in 9 mins.. Did it really? Do you actually have a clue what you're on about? Selling a car because the head gaskets gone - fail. Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole

Which Tyre?
I always put cheap tyres on the back, with the correct speed rating of course. I'm running Sunnys at the moment and they are carved from solid granite. In the dry they are fine, but in the wet they are lethal - just how I like it. Makes it much easier to slide, you don't have to be as rough with the car. But, you have to back off 5mph extra when going round corners normally, just to leave a safe margin for the unexpected. It can also spin the tyres in fourth at about 80-90mph if your not careful (again, when its wet), so proceed with caution. Depends what you want your car to do.. They've done 7 thousand miles in my hands and havn't worn a millimetre either - despite all the abuse I give them. My mate has a M3 with Michelins on it, he gets 3000 miles between sets...

Smaller belt for lightweight pulley

Some wise words
Who was it who said, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth? Religious nut jobs :gun_bandana: If I told you a I believed in little flower fairies that lived at the bottom of my garden and protected us from evil spirits I'd get banged up. But if I say I believe in an almighty god, who I've never seen, have no evidence they exist, but I prey to them every day - well, that's perfectly fine. All religious types, should be loaded onto a rocket and fired into outer space - that way they could investigate the origins of the universe with some logical perspective. The world would be a better place without religion IMO.

Opinion on the RX7 and RX8's?
I don't have my own opinion on this - I just watch Top Gear then agree with what they think! But I think Gonzo struck the nail on the head - BMWs used to be the preserve of well heeled types, that was until every chav and his staffy bought one. Now I just associate them with people who think a badge automatically elevates them into another bracket. I appreciate not all peopl buy BMW's for this reason and let's be in no doubt that the high-end models are genuinely good cars - but the entry to mid level BMW's just reek of burberry... I think there are many alternatives that have better dynamics, but none of the pretense. That's why I wouldn't have a Beemer (unless it wears an 'M' badge, a proper 'M' badge, that is)

Opinion on the RX7 and RX8's?
Not sure what you're getting at there.. But Leicester is the belly button of britain. Its in the middle and full of weird scum! Can't wait for the day when I move back up t'north, where decent folk drive decent cars and BMW's are just something those posh southerner's drive!!
-
Opinion on the RX7 and RX8's?
RX8 just a runaround? What are these retailing for nowadays? Peanuts? Given the choice of a well built, german executive saloon or a thirsty, high maintanence Jap one with a rude engine, I'd go for a Rover ZT every time. Mind you, driving a BMW does have positive points.. automatic priority at any junction (out of my way peasant!) you're right even when you're wrong (for god's sake man, can't you see I'm driving a BMW?) girls thing you are lush (hey, twinkle toes, fancy a ride in my bimmer?) exclusive use of lane 3 on the motorway (you're not a BMW, get out of the way - PEASANT!) and exclusive use of lane 2.. (use the inside lane? I'm not taking my BMW there - its common, dear) people will think you've made it! (look at my BMW, that's success in a box, right there)

final got him then!
IN YOUR FACE VODKASHOTS - told you the earth was round :smartass: All this cloak and dagger stuff seems a bit far fetched to me. All sounds a bit 'Bourne Identity'....

Opinion on the RX7 and RX8's?
Yeah, join the rat race and live your dreams like every aspiring chav. Yes, you too can have the BMW of your dreams.. Well, actually you can't - but you could buy something that mildly resembles it and it will deffo have M sport badges on it. I've heard that M sport badges add another 30-50bhp :death: Just look for the really long queue of people and join the back, that'll be the queue for people who want to own a used BMW. Or if that doesn''t float your boat you could try buying something interesting instead. Disclaimer - apologies to BMW owners. They are fine cars, handle well, are built properly and really make you look cool driving them...
-
final got him then!
Cynical - just a bit Next you're gonna tell us aliens exist and its a big government scam to keep us in the dark. Now look at my magic pen :cool3: Great news that Obama is dead.. sorry getting confused which terrorist we're talkin about, I mean - great news Osama is dead. But will it make any difference, I doubt it. Shame they didn't capture him and publically flog him in accordance with Sharia Law or whatever it is. Or let the majority of decent Muslims decide what to do with him :hang: So, is the war on terror over now? WIll allied forces stop intefering with other countries? YAWN.. Anyone fancy a game of space invaders? :2guns:
