  1. I think it has great potential. First thing I'd do is remove the GTR rear wing and fit a nice new GTR bumper so it doesn't have those tacky air scoops. Also the wheels look fine on a saxo but not so good on R32 - I'd fit some 16" gtr 5 spoke alloys to keep it looking authentic. Wouldn't be a sleeper in the truest definition, but no-one would expect it to unleash 500bhp on the road. Far too many cars in this kinda condition, why doesn't Mike 'buy it for 5 and sell it for 4' Wheeler start tidying up some of these tat bags and do us all a favour!
  2. Would love to come along, But unfortunately I have engine issues at the mo and am back at Zedworld on Sat for a bit of a closer look at whats wrong with it. Not only that, but my missus would serve me my own testicles for our valentines dinner if I spent two weekends in a row playing with our cars! If I wasn't working away from home it wouldn't be such a problem, but we only get weekends together as it is  I know, I know - thumb print on my head etc etc
  3. Hmmm, I'm no expert on these things mate, but I seem to remember that there is a common fault which can cause various symptons, power steering being one of them. I think its something to do with the gearbox to instument binnacle connection. SOmeone on here, might know exactly what I'm referring to here - JeffTT did a write up on it not too long ago - was quite a simple fix though. Mine did do it from time to time, but then stopped doing it? I have no idea why
  4. talk about baptism of fire, bob! first run out and its gonna be on a track, you're a braver man than me! I'd be too worried about a loose clip coming undone or something similar. But I guess the whole point of this car was to stick it to the 911s etc that kept getting in your way on other trackdays! Really hope she comes good bob. Any chance of getting some video footage? I will be official cameraman if I get to sit in the passenger seat! Best of luck!
  5. Only if they're in perfect condition at the correct pressure. I had some on my push bike, still didnt stop me blowing a tyre at 140mph+ - mind you, I was off road at the time.. :whistling:
  6. Sorry to hear that Janus, Can't really offer any advice, but gutted for ya I'm sure you'll make the right decision. Best of luck
  7. I've just started my stopwatch.. Tick, tock, tick, tock :tt2: PM sent
  8. Almost certainly failing on the exhaust gases cos of the lack of cats. I had my skyline de-catted, but managed to find a dodgy garage who would take £20 quid ant turn a blind eye.. Bantambunny knows his stuff about MR2's and probably Janus too, quite popular with us certified Jap nutters. cheers
  9. sweet! nice spec there
  10. I'm no expert on these type of things, however - If you have grippy road tyres, a high centre of gravity, a narrow track AND a car which you associate with as being totally robust and impregnable. Then to me, that spells HUGE AND INSTANT DEATH. Quads are not inherently dangerous, in the same way as guns are not dangerous - its the muppets who use them. I mean, look at that first picture.. You telling me this man has any spare cranial capacity? He's mid-fifties, nearly the same weight in stones and has a penchant for kiddies amusement rides. I rest my case - that guy knows as much about cornering as he does about dietal nutrition: feck all  As for using your weight to corner... ROLL OVER FATTY  How much?
  11. Absolute death traps! If you thought quads were dangerous, well, strap a rocking chair on top and see how fast you can corner  Best of luck chaps, what music do you want playing at your funerals?
  12. hi bud, Is the car still road legal? what spec you currently running? congrats on spending the wisest £20 in your zed ownership! Welcome to the club
  13. Zed ownership is like holding a cooked grenade.. Its not a question of 'if', but 'when'.. :crying: I'm preparing myself for the worse and still hoping for the best, but my guess is its engine rebuild time. I still have no idea what boost the car is (was) running so, for all I know, it could be the fact that 17 years and 14lbs of boost have caught up on the old girl. Best get in touch with the engine gods :detective:
  14. won't get chance to to drive the car until the weekend now, so will have to see what happens. Will try and get someone to follow me - which is difficult when I'm booting it! Just hope its not a rebuild jobby, cos I can't afford to fix it until I get another job sorted...:scared: Trouble is the car is a prime age now for something major to let go... 75k on the clocks now.. WIll see how thing develope - thanks for the input.
  15. If there was a problem with the rings/pistons/stem seals this would also increase crank pressure yeah? Hence the dipstick being blown out? Would a compression test tell me anymore if the smoking persists?
  16. Hi folks. Anyone who was at Zedworld on Sat may recall my little escapade. I took Hollings out for a quick spin to give him a manual shift demo, only to pop the dip stick out of the block and cover the passenger manifold with my fresh oil. :blushing: Anyway, after being mightily relieved to find out it was just the dip stick and not an impending engine melt down - Jamie very kindly degreased what he could and topped up the oil again. On my way home everything seemed to be well and I thought no more of it. Then on Sunday I took the car out for an early morning blast - after overtaking a few slower moving cars I checked my mirror only to find I could hardly see the cars I'd just passed cos of smoke (slight exaggeration). So I pulled over and checked the dipstick again - it was fine. I blipped the throttle a few times while stationary and nothing again. So I got back on my way again. But I noticed a pattern with the smoke which was still being deposited pretty regularly. Every time I booted it, it was fine, but as soon as I lifted off I got a puff of smoke from the arse end. Trouble is I don't know where it was coming from - the exhaust or the engine bay. I was telling myself it was just a bit of residual oil hiding somewhere that kept getting flung onto the manifold every now and then. But I don't understand why it did it just when I lifted off?? There isn't anything else which could cause a puff of somke when lifting off after gunning it, is there? Your thoughts please
  17. What made the passenger airbag go off? :whistling: Nice job bud
  18. Unless you were standing next to your motor it was pretty difficult to guess who was who - fortunately I saw you rummaging about in your boot and remembered your sig pic. Nice meeting you - lets see how far you've got by the Zedworld summer bash! :cool2:
  19. I'd always wondered what it was like sitting in the front of a train! I always want to look forward when travelling, but normally on a train that means looking at some munter with a screaming kid! Any pilots on here?
  20. you seem to have a real talent at ripping cars to pieces  Congrats on the new purchase! Nice motor
  21. was indeed. What have I done now?
  22. My mate had one of these.. He never used it, apart from listening to old biddies talking about their shopping. Never understood it myself. AND we have the internet now :1eye: If your feeling lonely, I'm trying to palm off the girlfriends twin sister :whistling: Make me a sensible offer and she's yours - she's not quite Russian, but Eastern Bloc isn't far off!
  23. A lot of car magazines use mid and north wales for road tests, I understand the roads around Betswy-Coed are very good. I'm working in Brecon at the moment, a few good roads round here and glorious views! Would leave the camping til the summer though
