Engine rebuild 500bhp +
^^^^ Exactly. By the time I've got 450+ bhp I'll be down well over 10 grand. Thats a lot for a car worth 5 grand. But, if you're stupid like me, you'll ignore this advice and do it anyway. And probably enjoy it too! ...and then you'll realise we were right!!

Sold my zed
Well done Gaz, As nice as it must be having 2 zeds, it can't be all that practical. Best focus your efforts on one of them and let someone else enjoy the other. What are the plans for the SWB then? Do tell..

classic muscle cars
Yeah I didn't really mean Eleanor, but I think the old mustangs are a good size but not too big like the plymouth superbirds and such like. An all time classic - the GT350RS would be my choice, but I'm guessing they're worth mega bucks now?

Surely there's only one correct answer here...

My sons toyota supra
I really would like to know where people find the time and money to do things like this.. It looks immense. Bet it must have cost a fortune? Even if it didn't, it still looks expensive - so job well done! Your son can be well proud (and dad too judging by the post!).

We could add name badges to the membership pack? Personally, I have used the keyring, but the tax disc holder is too big for my liking so sits on the microwave doing nowt now.. Can't remember what else was in the membership pack, but nothing that made me think - oh wow, that was really worth it! Doesn't need to be anything too blingy, but something understated so we don't feel like we're 7 and wearing a birthday badge! That way, everyone would have one for club meets! Oh yeah, weren't we supposed to get stickers in the membership pack?

Is that last post by Jap Slapper? Looks like the RX7 in his sig pic that he got 'SHAFTED' on? Looks awesome - an immense amount of hard work and skill gone into his drift toy. Wonder what car he has for the road?? I've seen this transplant before, but you appreciate it a lot more when you see a thread like that - thanks for the post!

insurance aaarrrggghhh!!!
Gray import means a car which wasn't available for sale in the country it is now being insured (like my old skyline). A parallel import probably refers to the fact that a Fairlady is the same as a 300zx, which was available for sale in the UK. Bit of a guess, but seems logical.

Engine rebuild 500bhp +
No point strapping new turbos onto a tired engine. Rebuild kits are available from Z1 for about 600-1000 depending on how thorough you want to be. But if you want to aim for big figures you're gonna need to replace this pistons or risk damaging your stock ones. As mentioned you will also need to overhaul the fuelling system too. And that is really the crux of the issue. If you do it cheaply and your engine fails, then it will cost you a lot more than doing it right the first time. You can save a shed load by doing the work yourself, but even then, building a 500bhp engine won't be cheap - otherwise everyone would be doing it! Jimmer is the man with all the answers my friend (he rebuilt my engine to a similar spec to which you will need). Though I haven't got the boost or fuel wound up... yet..

Who said we have to go to the big carshows? I'm perfectly capable of getting myself a ticket (which I would have to do anyway) if I want to attend one of the big national events. Personally, I would rather see my membership fee spent on club events. Not national events which represent poor value for money. I did not join the forum because I wanted a tent in a field at JAE, I joined because I wanted to meet like-minded enthusiasts and attend local-ish meets.

Suggestions for this site and owners club
I am more than happy to pay my subs to this forum, infact I would be happy to pay more - if there was a tangible benefit. I, personally, would like to see more forum-based get togethers. The Zedworld bashes are the highlight of the meetings I generally attend, but I don't think its fair to expect, or ask, them to do more. I would like to see my membership fee being used to fund maybe 2-3 annual club meets every year - not necessarily JAE or other big Jap shows, but our own individual club meets. The i-phone/mobile app thing sounds like a very good idea. Even if I'm stuck in the last century technology wise:-

Suggestions for this site and owners club
I would like to say that the JAE improvement thread REALLY infuriated me, but I chose not to comment - for the above reasons.

classic jap car's
Awesome find there, How sweet are those old skylines looking? Gonna have to check my model numbers on GT5, but the old skyline coupe (possibly the first car to wear the GTR red emblem I believe) looks tasty as sin. Want, want, want, want, want. So many sweet cars, fantastic quality pics too.

zed in Mag!!!!
Hmm, you could try contacting them! :tt2: If you look in Banzai etc, most of them have a small advert somewhere saying - if you want your car featured call xxxxxxx. Depending on what mods you have will depend whether they make it a feature car or put it in one of the smaller sections near the back of the mag! We should all do it (preferably with some tastefully modified motors), that way the price of Zeds should get pushed up as demand increases! Don't think mine is mag worthy just yet :crying:

where the fun happen's
I concurr mr Yowser, Was looking at E39 M5's just the other day. For what I spent on my engine rebuild I could have bought a M5 with about 100k+ on the clock. Puts things into perspective doesn't it. I know the running costs would be just as high and the car would probably need 2 grand throwing at it over 12 months, but a 400 bhp V8 is proper cool. I was at a track day recently where an M5 rocked up with a sports exhaust - you could hear it from the other side of the paddock.. Awesome bit of kit. Even the V10 M5 is becoming affordable now - about 17k for a cheap un (not affordable to me, but maybe some others on this site!). I don't think we'll ever see another car like that. In the end, I think I'm happy I stuck it out with the zed - but if you're a petrol head, then its highly likely you'll be tempted by one of Munich's finest at some point.
