  1. nickz32   Your comments are 100% spot on, as you say the law is the law and your job is to enforce it. As long as your fair and use common sense and dont become like some of the power mad jobs worths that do wear the uniform we should all offer you some gratitude for the difficult job you do. In my job I've worked with lots of cops (mainly traffic) and have noted that most use discretion when its appropriate (most cases people get off with warnings or V recs rather than being charged with offences). The people Iv'e seen complain most are always the one's who are at it or with something to hide. What a lot of people forget is that within the police there are lots of different departments, I constantly hear people remark to traffic officers about picking on them for speeding or other traffic offences and then say go find the muggers rapist and murderers instead. Well that funnily enough is not the job of a traffic police officer. Anyway Nickz keep up the good work whether you be traffic, CID, Beat (which gotta be the hardest job going) or other. And no I aint a cop!

  3. Fook thought my 6 month quest to buy a Z was long, youve been registered for nearly 2 years, whats keeping you man! There isnt any plans to hold a meet this weekend, and we don't hold them that much due to the low numbers of Scottish members. The next meet will hopefully be just after Christmas, and may be more of a social meet :duffer: than a car meet, but your more than welcome.if you want any information prior to that just post a message you will get loads of advice from the forum members. My email is robert.brown22@hotmail.com if you want any info from me (a mere amature on the forum) but I will help any way I can. Ohh and welcome back to the forum Robert
  4. 10% for nearly eveywhere listed even Dalwhinnie ffs, that cant be right. I think thev'e just made up the forecast, just like they do with the daily forecast then :D
  5. Yep normally tee total, however over the festive period, I roll the boat out and allow myself two shandies........half and half obviously. :smw: :D
  6. Leave the motor at home Alan and have a :duffer: or two.
  7. should also have said do a forum search, there are a couple of good threads on what to look out for when buying a Z.
  8. Welcome to the forum Roddy, and good luck finding a Z. I'm in Falkirk and there's a few others north of the border if your looking for some local advice. When your looking for a car bare in mind that they are relatively rare so be prepared to travel to find the right one, and decide what your after first ie UK or Jap, auto or manal, lwb-swb, TT -NA, leather or poxy tweed :D Me I wanted a UK manual and easily travelled over 3000mls in a 6 month period looking for one. I ended up buying one that needed work doing, but which was far cheaper than any of the others that i'd looked at, from a member in Ediburgh (most of the other cars i looked at needed quite a bit of work as well, some were in even worse nick). If insurance is a concern then more than likely a UK will usually be far cheaper on the wallet. But make sure you check the body work out because as already said rust may well be a serious problem unless the car has been cosseted. An import car should have less rust provided its not been over here too long (some of the earlier imports must be every bit as bad as UK models by now). As for mechanical problems, yes there can be some, I've had to change the brake master cylinder, clutch master and slave cylinders, free of the front brake calipers and replace the brake pipes. when you think of it though the car is 16 years old and has done 150000mls so isnt it isnt surprising that some work has to be carried out, most other cars of this age and milage need much the same sort of work doing. I'm also in the middle of some major body repairs, but I new when I bought the car that this was likely, but luckily for me I can do a lot of the work myself which keeps the cost down. What I would avoid are heavily modified cars unless you can be sure everything has been done correctly. Do your homework, decide what your after, have a good look and dont just jump at the first car you see. Happy hunting
  9. could work out a cheep night, bring your own carry out and we can order pizza from Dominoes
  10. Just a normal size Scottish meeting. I'll book the phone box at the bottom of the royal mile. :D.
  11. Of course the more the merrier! :( , when are you back, the date hasnt been fully finalised so just in case its changed keep an eye on the thread.
  12. December :D,
  13. When I test drove my Z before buying it there were tints fitted, fookin horrendous it had just got dark and was starting to rain, I had to put the windows down to see at junctions. dont know what tint it was on them but it really did make a big difference to the visibility, even Paul who Had the car agreed.
  14. Whatever date suits the majority of people who are going to go! Suggest the 28th or 29th for starters, party atmosphere, the Saturday would probably be best that way we could start a wee bit earlier then everyone that has to get earlier trains can still have a few :duffer: . Only drawback is I can see lots of other halfs saying :nono: to these dates. No such problem in my house, she knows whos boss............... so I'll have to sneak out the back door :D
  15. Any tint you put on is highly likely to take you over the legal limit of tint. As the drop glass is already tinted probably to a level not far from the maximum limit, any tint you put on top adds up and makes it illegal. The law says that the side drop glass window must allow through at least 70% light, most cars come with factory tints around the 20% mark and some are around 25% tint, so in these cases you only have 5% to 10% to play with. Lots of folk have been ripped of by tinting firms telling them that they are fitting legal tints of 30%, and not pointing out that the glass is already tinted. Couple of weeks later they get issued with a ticket by the police and have to take them back off.
  16. As I previously suggested holding our next meeting around about christmas time, Berrica and Shrek have come up with the idea of going for somewhere to eat. We did this a couple of years ago at Stirling when Scottywill was REO and had a good attendance. Its up to you guys if you fancy this let me know so that it can be arranged. There are a number of choices, we can take the cars meet somewhere as central as possible for all and head for something to eat locally. Or go for a run and go for something to eat on the journey ( I vote against this as the pug will get left behind and you would all have everything scoffed before I arrive) Or leave the cars at home, head for somewhere with good transport links (like Edinburgh) grab something to eat, and wash it down with a beer or three :duffer: (my favorite choice) Or if somebody wants come up with another idea!

Good idea lads, I had thought on suggesting something along those lines, but as the members are a bit spread out, considered we would'nt get much interest. But as youv'e suggested it I'll post up a thread.
  18. woooo is it shiny ? I'd think about a new rad for mine, but theres been no sign of the car overheating all year

I suggested we have another meet just after xmas, possibly over the holiday period, and will post up a thread around the start of December to gauge interest. With regards to how regular we hold any meetings, I think at the moment its best to stick with every couple of months, there just isnt enough interest to make it monthly ( unless you all disagree ). We can review this in the spring, It may be that more people will be willing to attend in the warmer months, then we can arrange meetings, runs, attending events etc.
  20. Its Voodoo mubo jumbo! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexadecimal that should answer your question  fookin double dutch to me though!
