  1. Guys, Im not well :( Flu, so let my abscence be noted and I'll bring a note from my mum ;) Bowling is booked in the name of "Black". 2 lanes, 2 games. Mexican would not take bookings on weekend, but said it would be quiet at 4:30 anyway. Take pics for me !!
  2. Alternatively TomTom Go 500 Comes with 'Major Roads of Europe' (and bluetoot h and faster processor) and the "Go 700" comes with European Maps are pre-installed on 2.5GB Hard Drive.
  3. Voices are easily changed :)
  4. TomTom One or TomTom go 300 both excellent units in your price range. The TomTom One is a smaller unit and uses a newer faster chipset than the GO, and has all the other features but its speaker and battery life (you can however run it from incar charger) is under par against the 300. PM me for more Info!
  5. aint it great to get such conflicting advice that when followed could potentially damage engine :headvswal
  6. I've got two zed's myself. :) The Impreza also has its weak points, I could spend all day listing problem with them and my Celica GT4 (same engine as the Mr2 Turbo) cost me more in maintance than my zed did in a years ownership. Zed reliablity certainly has nothing to do with weakness or poor build. However it does get hotter under that cramped engine bay than most cars. Which means correct preventative maintenance is important at old age. Electrical connectors and water pipes will suffer from corrosion and breakage from heat after 15 years....replacing them before they do will make the world of difference. Sometimes its just luck of the draw. Its not possible to see how past owners have cared for them :( Hope your unfortunate past experiences has'nt put you off future ownership again.
  7. I did a 1400mile trip thru Europe in my zed last year with several over zed's, and off on another road trip this year, through France, belguim and Germany to the Nurburgring.
  8. Definatly not all common problems. Oil pump - Very uncommon failure! headgaskets - They will go becuase of overheating, due to other problem (rad?, split 15yr old waterpipes..etc) PTU - Yes, common for s1. s2 super reliable though. injector seals - no, not common. Rad - Will go at old age just like any car. Most are original at 15yrs though coilpacks - yep, once car gets to certain age they'll need replacing heater matrix - I've had 2 previous cars with matrix failure. Both much newer than zed Manual gearbox - Very strong. Syncro can start to go in 4th for pre 94 boxes, but thats still rare. Maf problem, is because of the removal of splash gaurd. Engines are essentially very strong. They will fail just like any car due to oil starvation or water starvation (or persisitant detonation with badly modified examples). The VG has small sump. Regular oil changes and ensuring the level is correct is important. Split waterpipes becuase they are 15yrs old and should of been replaced by now are the reasons for overheating issues or not getting waterpump replaced as part of cambelt service at 60k!
  9. The Reliable quote was in reference to the Micra, Primera...etc statiscally some of the most reliable cars in the world. However now you mention it, the Zed is a strong reliable car when well maintained. The Engine is also very strong. Every car has its achelies heel, with the zed its the PTU and electrical contacts that cause problems from heat, vibration..etc. any other problems are due to neglect! I've had less problems (and less cost) than all my previous cars, including new cars and german, and mine is a TT and its driven daily (and not like miss daisy).
  10. ooopss....nope, Sorry . I was thinking CF Engine throttle cover then.
  11. Yep, Smithy. http://www.smithys-place.co.uk/cf.php
  12. Because Vauxhall historically make mainstream crap, dull cheap plasticky cars ? While Nissan Make a range of successfull sports cars, such as - the Z-car range - The Best selling/most successful sports car range in the world, fact ! - The skyline GTR, the Nurburgriing record lap holder for many years - The R390 one of the most expensive cars ever made - plus a very long time-line of Motor Racing heritage, including Le mans victories. ...and they also make many of the most reliable cars in the world. Just a guess ;)
  13. Only drawback is that the smaller plate regulation does'nt apply to the zed as it can accomodate standard plate sizes for the front.

Japanese regulations I believe. Its a warning that they are breaking max speed limit. Restrictors are effectively washers in the exhaust that restrict flow. They sit right after the cats. They can be "dremmeled" out, or a aftermarket Cat back exhaust fitted.
  15. Thats what friendsreunited.co.uk is for
  16. 100% agree. Inner Brake light bulbs is best. Reversing is bad enough without not being able to see behind at night when reversing !
  17. Yes Arc do a replacement Induction unit for the Z32. Costs several hundred pounds. Its must larger than the Stock housing. Greg had one fitted to his, replaced it with an apexi ! Rolling roads have proven induction kit advantages, and replacement panel filters will not provide enough air at higher bhp applications. Inductions kits can have there disadvantages in other cars, where the induction kit sits inside the Engine bay without heatshielding, unlike the 300zx.
  18. Japanese cars are the most reliable in the world, and mine has cost me a lot less per year than my Bmw 535i did for Repairs, Maintenance and fuel !
  19. Im sure they do handle well, but your comparing a 1500kg Sports car to a large 1800kg Saloon. Ditch the 15yr old worn suspension and fit Fresh suspension, bushes & decent tyres, it makes all the difference.
  20. No probs, have booked 2 lanes for 2 games.
  21. http://www.zcentre.co.uk
  22. Remove the centre console trim. Its only 4 screws. 2 under the blanking covers at top and 2 under the blanking strip below vents.
  23. no reason to expect any fuel smell(except from exhausts as Zed's run rich). If you smell unburnt fuel, then you have leaks.
  24. Definatly Induction kit, allow the engine to breath properly. The Hardpipes replace the stock pipes which start to crack with age. They are bling but I suppose they also prevent pipe expansion at higher boost levels.

The Skyline is quicker than a Porshe 911 around the Ring...so the Cayenne is quicker than the 911 !? Despite having slower acceleration, too much weight and height for comparable handling, and too unaerodynamic at high speed !?
