A slick top is a dark horse of the Z community. I would love to own one but always thought the parts would be harder to get due to hardly any of them being on the road. Only 2 members i know who still have one and i've luckily managed to sit in both and it just feels strange not having the sun on your head. @phutumsch & @Slick Pete. how do you find them for parts ? O, and are they SWB or LWB?, something i dont actually know..

So, Had an idea to drum up some old conversations that may or may not work. All i hear from my kids these days is the words challenge which can drive me nuts so i'm not going to use it again. Instead i invite you all to go find and old thread that is still relevant in most parts and add to its thread with something that is more than just a 'bump' word, add to the conversation, bring it forward and lets see what comes up. *** Only rule is that it must be at least 4 years old.

mocal 16 row i think, was perfectly fine but cant remember where i got it. As the previous engine failed i had metal filaments going through the system. So i was going to get a new rad rather than take a chance of hosing the old one out.

Not used stock cooler for a long time, but due to my engine failure i'm not risking putting the old cooler back in.

Was going to stick to Mocal but just wanted to know best source in UK to order one.

Used to be on the CB years ago and recently decided to get it going again. So i bought myself a CRT9900 10M radio and a Sirio Performer Antenna for my car. You dont need a license for the 11M band ie CB channels on FM but you do if you want to use the others HAM frequencies. So far my furthest contact last week was to South Wales while i was in the car sitting outside Prestwick Airport. Planning to sit my HAM exam shortly as i would like to setup another home base setup and reach out further.

Actually not measured the crank size against the main bearing cradle to give me the clearance sizes yet. I was going to get the garage that cleaned it to do this then i forgot and took the engine home.

Just collected my engine block and crank, All good so i dont need to upsize my pistons, i'll upload pics shortly. Next order on the cards is new pistons and rods.

Whats the best bearings to order up and from where ? Was quoted about £250 to dip the block, hoan the cylinders and and polish the crank.

Just dropped off my engine block and crank at an engineering works. Cylinders to be honed out and then full think to be stripped in a hot bath. Also sent the sump to be stripped and repainted black too.

Wouldn't be worth it as there isn't enough revenue or zeds in the UK.
