  1. id much rather take my time and do it properly than risk it with that quick start stuff. most peoples fish die with in the first month due to not setting up the tank properly. anyway jane why do you want a gold fish when you could have one of these, this is my old fish oscar (yes i know, inventive name for a oscar)
  2. that is the problem, pet stores don't think of the health of the fish, people are not educated about fish keeping and think its easy, if you want less problems best to do it properly.
  3. if you clean the filter you run the risk of killing your healthy bacteria, only clean half of the sponge inside the filter and rotate it. just remember that the chlorine in tap water kills the healthy bacteria in the tank, so always add a tap safe substance when changing.
  4. an ammonia kit is a good investment, tbh the way to set the tank up properly, is get an ammonia / nitrate and nitrite kit. sort the tank out before you add the fish this way you wont get a problem with ill health. as much as gold fish are hardy buggers, they can still suffer when subjected to a tank that hasn't had time to get its balance right. Set the tank up a good 3 weeks before you get your fish, get a stocking and add some frozen prawns, test the tank after 3 days (be warned the prawns will stink so best to have a lid of this) the tank will go all cloudy as the bacteria grow in the water. keep your filter running through out this whole process, test the tank what will happen is you will get a large spike of ammonia, followed by nitrite, both of which are poisonous to fish. clean out the prawns and add some fresh ones to the stocking. keep doing this and testing every 3 days, what you are looking for is the ammonia level to drop, and the nitrite to drop. and the nitrate to start. once you have nitrate that's when you have good bacteria. Now continue doing the fresh prawns in the stocking in the tank with the filter running, until ammonia levels are at 0ppm, and nitrite levels are at 0ppm, and nitrate is quite high. now do a water change and take the prawns out. only do half a water change you need to keep some bacteria in the tank and then add the fish. then for the first week do a 1/3 water change every 3 days until the nitrate level comes down to around 10ppm. after that its happy days, and just do a 1/3 water change every other week.
  5. as much fun as that sounds, i don't really fancy being auctioned off in a raffle
  6. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=143317 already know how to do that, its the same as copying a link form a thread to post for someone else :whistling:
  7. Daz you best be bloody going lad, or ill have to see if i can shove you in my boot and drag you there lol
  8. there is a really easy way of doing it, up in your browser bookmark drop down, right click and select "create new folder", rename it 300zx pages of interest or some shit like that, then navigate to the page you want to keep track of, add it to favorites and select the 300zx folder you just created. you can also rename the favorites to what it is so if its a cam belt change. name it to that for fast and easy reference. at present there really is no way of saving favorite forum pages in a better way than that. you can add them to subscribed threads, but its too fiddly to be honest. *edit* ooh just make sure that the thread address is showing fully in the address bar at the top of the screen or you will end up with a lot of saves of the front page.
  9. read above, you already stated you will put the address up at a later date
  10. Jeff, address please, that map only shows you in coleshill lol might be a bit of a problem getting there if everyone is driving around in circles trying to find the place lol never mind im blind.
  11. good luck, lets hope you dont get mucked about.
  12. i am so there this year, with me zed :D so i best get cracking on it lol will bring the Mrs and kids if shes up for it.
  13. wonder if he got the car back ?
  14. i have the use of a air compressor and gun, but problem is i have no where to do it at the moment, my garage is that small i couldn't even do it in there if i tried. you have to take the targa off the car and get out with the window down as it is, so spraying a car in there would be a no go. only thing i could think of is the obvious gazebo like boldly. but biggest problem with that, is i live in a block of flats. so it would be out in the open on its own while i was tucked up in bed asleep. would rather not give anyone cover away from prying eyes to break into my car.
  15. well the front bumper hasn't got lacquer on at the moment as i didn't like how the 1k stuff turned out, even after 3 coats on the rear spoiler, so the only panel ill need to sand the 1k stuff off, is the spoiler, which there isn't much surface area of. Rear bumper is just in primer stage at the moment, as i need to sort out some sanding marks oops... before i put the base coat on. If this turns out good with the 2k, i might think about canning the whole car. as to be honest the front bumper turned out very well with the base coat. as long as the nozzle gives a fan pattern rather than a dot. you can get a good even coat. built the layers up 1 at a time, thin layers with 20mins to dry between until a good layer is there. cut it back with 1200grit. give it a good dry clean, then lacquer. but if i go the whole car route. id do all the panels from the same batch of spray, filling in where needed before the undercoat, then dry cleaning, but if i did any filling id use 2k primer as filler tends to absorb paint and can leave marks if not done right to start with once you get the base coat on. id also document it as well :D Worked it out, at around £250 for using Cans to do the whole car, including budgeting for 2k primer and 2k lacquer
  16. You don't want too many people there, you have to remember your pretty confined where your working on a zed. in the cabin is definitely a one man job when down at the pedals, when changing the gear box 2 is a good number to fit it with out issues. 3 is helpful 4 is too many. again in the engine bay id say a max of 3 people but only if there are things to do on either side of the car. Too many cooks can spoil the broth
  17. oh god, not this debate again lol, there are pro's and con's to both side of the argument. but for everyday use, personally i cant see a problem with after market BOV's if you like the sound, then go for it.
  18. now this boils my blood, there are people who cant be arsed to work then there are those who out right cheat the system http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-11429174 then you get this. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1293730/Somali-asylum-seeker-family-given-2m-house--complaining-5-bed-London-home-poor-area.html which has nothing to do with lazy people. tbh, all this subject causes is anger. would help if we had a government with balls tbh. I sacrificed a lot when i was homeless and when i was getting my self back on my feet, and still managed to sort out a place to live, and then start working again. but the two examples above take the :censored: to be honest.
  19. same stuff as Jmwuk posted. just cheaper. think ill be giving it ago, cant be any worse then halfords stuff. god even clear glue has more shine to it. OOh rear bumper is primered now, just waiting for a dry day to spray it the same color as the car :D
  20. well, i tried the 1k stuff from halfords and it looks as dull as a dull thing on a very dull day with sunglasses on. so wanted to go for a more professional look to my lacquering. hell, im scared to even try buffing the halfords crap just in case i make it any more flat. and nope its not a matt lacquer i used last time.
  21. if you cant be arsed to work on your own, pop over and see me, ill sort you out matey lol
  22. so 3meters in total. lol i sound so noobie, wouldn't really know about the water by pass as I've only ever investigated it using Jeff's photos, the first time i looked i couldn't even make head nor tails of where the bloody things where routing too.
  23. anybody used any spray cans of this, and if so can anyone recommend me a decent brand? i want to go over my spoiler / front bumper and rear bumper. also going to need some for when i finish off repairing the rear quarter. I know the risks involved with using this stuff. mask / gloves and full body protection.
  24. if you come pick me up in your VW and can drop me back, im more than willing to come help a hand, but as me own zed is off the road due to current water pump issues im a bit at a loss for transport at the weekends.
