  1. lol cool, video is crappy so cant get a decent screen capture of it to upload but well spotted that man :D
  2. the process jimmer is on about, is dropping the engine enough to get to the turbo, you will still need to disconnect the pipes at the front so you don't put pressure on these. but dropping the front sub frame and moving the steering U/J out of the way, can achieve one of two things, give you enough room to get the engine and gear box out together, or lower the engine enough so the side bulk head isn't obstructing your access to the drivers and passenger side turbos.
  3. PS re-read it, i edited it.
  4. was for me, so yeah. PS why does it need the prop undoing? just do what i did, unbolt it at the center bearing, let the center bearing hang and slide it out of the gear box, then move it to one side while still attached at the rear, when i did my engine change, i didn't have the luxury of having loads of room under the car to get the correct angle to take the gear box out with the engine.
  5. if you leave the engine in place your not going to be lifting it with out lifting the rest of the car due to the gear box / engine mounts. Easiest option, remove the gear box, saves a lot of hassle and you can lift the engine clear with out having to worry about catching anything, or dropping the front sub frame to get enough angle to lift the engine and gear box together.
  6. grats now get posting lol :D
  7. i did a complete engine change with nothing more than a car park a set of ramps, 2 Axel stands, drainage jug, trolley jack, a socket set / spanners / 10" breaker bar, 3 x 3inch extensions, torx wrench and a RAC light that connects to the battery, around this time last year, ooh and loads of hot coffee was loads of fun on my own :D
  8. first time around? about 8 hours if your methodical, have the correct tools and take care.
  9. It can be done with the engine in, but you may as well do it with the engine out. its a lot easier and faster, plus you can do a proper job. not to mention that if you snap a bolt from turbo to manifold you may as well get the engine out to sort it out. Plus you can change other things while there before the engine goes back in for piece of mind so you know they are not going to fail on you in the near future, and require you to take the engine back out again.
  10. dunno, but Dave if you have loads of excess, drop me a PM please bud, as ill have it off you to do my plenum change, and while I'm there, renew the fuel pipe work as well.
  11. have changed the fuel pump? or fuel pressure regulator?
  12. engine off ignition on or off, best off though.
  13. sounds like what i had, but i also had a really bad hesitation issue as well. Do a ECU check, open the panel at the passenger foot well to expose the ECU. get a flat head medium size screwdriver, there is a little turn screw on the left hand side of the ecu, turn that fully clock wise until you cant turn it any more, wait 2 seconds and then turn it fully counter clockwise until you cant turn it any more, this puts the ECU into diagnostic mode. now head to the dash, and watch the flashing engine management lights. there will be a series of flashes followed by a medium length pause. and then it will start flashing again. it will flash long flashes first, then short flashes. long flashes are the first number, short flashes are the second number. so for a all clear it will be 5x long and 5 times short, for a code of 55, if there are more than one code showing, it will flash the first code in the sequence, and then the second, after the short flashes of the first. so pay attention. So to recap ECU, turn fully clock wise, 2 second wait, turn fully counter clock wise. Read the engine management light flashes. long flash first number, short flash second number. Then reset the ECU, by unplugging the battery for 1 hour. replug it in, take the car for a 10min drive. then check the codes again see if any have reappeared. get the code if any and put it up here. might be a PTU problem. Reason for resetting the ECU and checking a second time, is just in case there are old codes that haven't been reset.

  19. Looks good mate, nice too see you taking your time on it, and funny how you can tell your getting better as it goes on. almost finished now though. would love to do something like that on mine, but just dented the rear end so sorting that out first. Give all our love to the Aus site though matey. and good luck with your project. cant wait to see the finished motor.
  20. The problem is, the judicial system in the country is shot the hell, ok from what we can see in the US where the system is a lot more harsh, it still doesn't work, but in the US in some states a man has a right to protect his own property. In this country we get the right to shut our door and ignore it. that's about it. any retaliation from the person getting the abuse is punished as according to our laws two wrongs don't make a right. If someone has continually harassed my family, and the police, which i can guarantee said "Nothing we can do with out evidence of who ever it is", and even with evidence would of just given the offender community service in court or even just a anti social behaviour order, which means absolutely nothing to people like this. i too would of finally snapped. what i would do is not for me to say as i am not in that situation to find out. But the bottom line here, is that the police have their hands tied by stupid laws past by stupid people. The other problem is. unlike America where most prisons are run like a prison, here they are run like holiday camps, so there is no real deterrent due to another stupid law called "human rights" Don't blame the guy for protecting his family, blame the system for not letting us protect our family and for a failing police force that only responds to easy targets. case in point. My dad phoned the police when he see someone across the road from him being burgled. he rang 999 while the burglars were ransacking the house. the house belonged to a friend of my dads and he was on holiday. now considering that they were doing the deed when my dad rang, and were in the house a good 20mins while they loaded up a car, the police had ample time to get the 1.2miles from the station to the house to arrest the suspects while in the process of loading the car up. when the police finally arrived some 1 and a half hours later. no surprise that the burglars had vanished and already gotten away, the guy came back from holiday and still no arrests had been made. even though my dad gave them the reg number of the car. it didn't matter as it was found burnt out 5 miles away. If the police had turned up with in a few minutes of my dad ringing, the guy would of had all his stuff still and two burglars would of been doing at least 3months in butlins......oops i mean jail.
