  1. Si are you on about the oil pick up in the sump? not heard it called an oil scraper before. its happening under-load so to speak, i mean i can boost fine and get absolutely no smoke what so ever, just after awhile of driving, seems to be as the oil reaches temp by the looks of it, but again as stated, only seems to start smoking once im heading up the road about to park it up at the back of the house, took it for another spin today, again no smoke what so ever, moment i parked at the rear of my house, puffs of it coming from the exhaust. although not as much as the other day. im completely baffled. EDIT, just read up on oil scrapers
  2. im not sure if i should risk taking the zed or go in the honda, zed will be ok to start with, but then i just know at some point between here and kettering ill be pulling over with smoking tanking out the rear. i think.
  3. 3 system lines? there is only 2 that run from vac points on the engine to the CC, there is a vac line that runs next to the CC lines, but this goes to your recirc dump valve on the passenger side of the car. and is the inner most (closest to the rad on the passenger side) vac tube, you can tell if you look and follow it to the front of the car, its not attached to the ones for the Carbon canister. You can remove the vac lines and bung the points it attaches too to test the rest of the system.
  4. Custom straight through exhaust bud, but from experience, if the oil is in the exhaust, it smokes from the moment the exhaust gets hot. i can drive normally for around 10 15mins or so, before it decides to start smoking and even then it doesnt smoke on boost, or at idle, or even know when its going to do it, its like random, only thing i can say is, it starts when going up hill, now not sure if that is a cause or not, is unknown at the moment. Still hoping its just burning something off and once its done, its done. but for now, just looking at what it could be, the thought had crossed my mind that its turbo oil seal related.
  5. sounds like what ive just taken off, the ones ive just put on, have some resistance in the valve by a spring under tension when you poke it with a screw driver, never seen the PCV valves on any of my zeds with loose valves to the point that they just float about in it with no resistance. Still seems a bit odd why its smoking only every now and then and not under full boost. could be the fact i just havent put many miles on this new engine and there is oil trapped in the intercooler system some where, the last engine was caking cylinder 6 with oil and also the plenum as the blow by gases were entering the upper intake to such a degree as to leave pools of oil in them. though there is no oil in the throttle body pipes side, its all clean O.o
  6. I had a major head ache with my over heating zed, first started when the thermostat failed to open fully and it ended up putting its coolant over my friends brand new drive. once id found the cause (thermostat failure) and having replaced it, it developed a problem where by it would systemically burst all the old water pipes around the engine. Get him to do a block test in front of you, this will confirm or deny the possibility that the head gasket has failed and is letting cylinder gasses into the cooling system there by causing excess pressure.
  7. Right, had to get a replacement engine to go in mine after it decided to eat piston rings on number 6 cylinder, new is ok, but i still need to sort the timing out after my last engine ate the timing light, it comes up to temp and holds its temp lovely, no knocking or strange noises going on and the compression results before i got it, where averaging 155 on each cylinder. its had a nice fresh oil change with brand new oil filter Now the smoking issue, when i first started it, it had a bit of blue tinted smoke but after awhile that cleared off (burning crap off the turbos id put on) you can get in and drive it around and it wont smoke, not even under heavy boost, but then it will belch smoke like there is no tomorrow, it can get that bad it can hinder the car behind me's vision, you can then park it up and it will sit and clear the smoke, give it a few low revs (to around 3.5k) it will act like it has a major boost leak and hunt on idle, then clear its self fully and no more smoke. One thing i have noticed, is it only seems to happen when you drive up hill, it will start smoking when the car is on an incline? ive changed both PCV valves now thinking it could be that, will be taking it for a test drive tomorrow as haven't got the time to do so to night. One thing i did notice with the PCV valves ive just taken off, is the valve in side is very loose, as in no spring compression to force the valve closed, all other PCV valves ive had or seen in the past on our cars have a spring with some resistance to close the valve back off. I thought it might be my turbo seals but im not sure, as it doesn't smoke under heavy boost or even when sat idling after boost. its quite random on when it smokes, only thing ive noticed as stated before, is when im going up hill it starts smoking? not sure if thats a red herring or not though. Anyone got any thoughts? dont really want to be driving the zed to JAE and smoking up the road before i get there. Oil pressure on my After market gauge is 80 on first start, drops to 20 and goes up to 40 when driving.
  8. Never had a issue with non z32's on the club stand before, more the merrier in all honesty. Attendance list usually compiles with this thread. well it did last year.
  9. 6 days remaining, if you are heading to JAE, please put your name down.
  10. I have no idea, that would be out of our control on that matter and would need to be taken up with JAE organizers
  11. Everyone ended up getting their own tickets last year. not sure it makes sense doing a bulk buy due to how it works, you pay the club, the club buys the tickets, the tickets get sent out to use, we then send them on to you. easier for the tickets to be ordered by you and get sent straight there, there are no savings either on a bulk buy, so no one actually saves anything.
  12. Just over 2 weeks left, come on guys get your names down.
  13. They will be at sywell in Wellingborough on Sunday, hoping to get a good view as they fly over and a few photos for the album.
  14. Could also be due to Trax is on the same weekend.
  15. This post is boring with out pictures lol
  16. feels like a part of my childhood has just died. strange how it was just the other day, the kids were watching ROBOTS, and i was laughing hard at fender. Such a sad loss RIP :(
  17. The issue with AMS in the US, is they view them as having taken someone else's R&D'ed product, copied it and made really crap copies which sell like hot cakes, while the company that spent all the money on R&D suffers due to lack of sales as their quality demands a higher price.

  19. Obviously designed with the garage in mind, where speed = more customers through the door, rather than a budding garage mechanic. although, id love one as well lol
  20. I have no idea, but i too have a set of electric front seats, passenger and drivers sat in my blue zed going unused at the moment.
  21. Gearbox Gear lever linkage Gear lever bushing Gear knob Gear knob dust boot and securing bracket, Clutch pedal assembly Manual break pedal (unless you cut your Auto break pedal down to size, then all you will need is the break pedal rubber) Clutch booster (if Twinturbo) Flywheel Clutch pressure plate Clutch housing Clutch fork Release bearing Manual pilot bushing Front half of propshaft Clutch master cylinder Clutch slave cylinder braided clutch line (optional but better) Some wire to wire the gearbox into the car and pin 44 on the ECU for the neutral switch A bit of heavy duty wire to bridge the starter relay in the drivers side wheel arch. Gearbox oil. fully synthetic GL-4, 75W-90 All associated bolts and nuts. Think thats about it.
  22. I'm with Lynbrook, i have a garage (far distance from my house now mind you since i moved), couldnt even get the zed in the garage due how wide the zed was, plus id have to leave a targa panel removed, so negated any safety the garage would of offered as they are not the most secured things (having one broken into and my tools stolen back in 08), basically lynbrook expect the car to be garaged over night, there is nothing in documents to state it needs to be in there during the day, just a set of hours over night the car needs to be garaged for it to be covered for theft. So basically, if the car is on the road over night and gets stolen between 10pm and 8am, its not covered by theft, if its garaged however, then its covered. tis all confusing if you ask me. if someone wants your car, a garage door isnt going to stop them.
  23. Had this same sort of thing on a facebook post on one of the US pages, someone posted a zed someone was selling for 9k, everyone was then "worth about 2k max blah blah blah", this was basically my reply to it. "no wonder the z32 will not increase in price. its that simple, everyone moans about how little the car is worth, yet when someone wants to raise the price by just a few k, everyone moans at the condition or just blatantly says its not worth it, id say a show room zed bone stock with low mileage, should be fetching 20k, im not saying it would sell, but that's what id consider a good example that's clean as hell with low mileage should be worth in this day and age, as the car is now 25 years old with very limited amount of good examples left. Problem is, people are too ingrained with saying "**** that shit, let it sit there and rot" before shelling out for a good example, because no one wants to pay a supra price tag for the z32 for some reason. may be if the price was higher, we would see less cars off the road, because lets face it, the biggest thing with reliability issues with the z32, is people skimping on maintenance because the car is so cheap to buy, it hides just how much it costs to maintain it to how Nissan recommend, people then run the car into the ground and palm it off to the next unsuspecting guy, who then moans how "unreliable" the car is. when its not actually the car that's at fault, its all the previous owners who didn't realize how much it would cost to maintain due to the car being so cheap to buy in the first place, very sad but true fact." Good luck to him selling it at that price and hope he gets it.
  24. Sunday is £10 and as its the last day of JAE, if you are in a 300zx, im sure they will let you drive it in and park on the stand, Daffy, the Saturday ticket no stand entry is due to people in the past paying for a day ticket and camping the night. that wouldn't apply for Sunday as the event is usually over by around 4pm with most clubs packed up and gone.
