  1. I had to cut the rubber off mine to get to the metal inner thats got the threads in , it was as tight as a nuns honey pot cos it had threadlock on it . BTW i was fitting a new one so it didn,t matter that i destroyed it
  2. It,ll be fine bud , they,re cat overheat sensors , i just cut the sensor off and tucked the wires out of the way , if you want to remove and disconnect them properly you have to remove the centre consol as the little box these plug into is under it . HTH
  3. Ooh i need to get my car done :taz::taz:
  4. This is the gun bud http://www.screwfix.com/p/metabo-fb2200-gravity-feed-spray-gun/67563 And any compressor as long as it has enough cfm to run the gun constantly , nowt worse than the air pressure dropping half way across a panel
  5. Cheers Graham , 3 coats of base and the same in laquer , the painters here usually put 2 coats of laquer on but i wanted plenty to cut back and polish up :whistling: lol
  6. You couldn,t timed that much better Ian , it was only today i was asking manta v8 if he knew what pin and wire i had to connect the neutral switch to and there it is number 44 :thumbup::thumbup: Nice find bud !
  7. Nice one bud ,makes all the hard work worthwhile :clap: i did about 400 yards up and down the road in mine before loading it on a truck, lol and that gave me a buzz :nana2::nana2:
  8. I work in a body shop bud i,m a panelbeater , the last car i painted was a Ford Sierra owned by Manta v8,s dad about 20 years ago !!, they,ve let me use the booths but i,ve got to pay for the privaledge , you don,t get owt for nowt nowadays lol even after spending over 10 years working for them ! tight gits .
  9. Cheers for the nice comments  , the colour is Skoda Race Blue , i saw it on a VRS Octavia and loved it , the paint was .. £120 for 2.5 litres of base coat and i,ve used UPOL HS ultra clear laquer which was another £85 for 5 litres with hardener and £21 for 5 litres of 2k thinner . The rear bumper is a standard one but with a Greddy Gracer rear skirt on which is the same as Carmads smooth rear skirt but i blended it in and after seeing the rear diffuser on the Twinz bumper on Bobgenies car , i wanted it to sort of look like that so i just masked an area and matt blacked it , put the blue base on then removed the masking and laquered the lot . I,m really chuffed how it,s come out :hyper:
  10. Finally got it painted , it,s come out quite well considering i used a £40 spray gun from Screwfix ! lol Just need to get it polished , back home and then start putting it all back together :dance: A few pics
  11. I just ordered a piece of black vinyl off ebay Ian , it wasn,t anything special bud .
  12. Cheers bud , it,s dead easy , took about an hour to do both .:thumbup1:
  13. Can,t see a problem doing it that way bud , quite a few motor factors will mix a base coat and put it in a rattle can and there are some really good aerosol laquers available as well , a guy who lived next door restored scooters and resprayed them with cans , they looked like a pro paint job when he,d finished .
  14. Can,t you tell i,ve been trying to keep myself busy ! lol , i feel lost without the car here to work on :crying::crying: I,ll be climbing the walls on monday , no car and the gardens done !!
  15. Wotcha Graham , I bought more than enough base and laquer and sprayed all the shuts in the tent , sorry my flexible garage ! lol , saving time to concetrate on the outside. I,m getting quite nervous about doing it , it,s been a long long time since i sprayed a car , not only is it a new spray gun it,s a gravity feed gun , i was used to using the old Devilbiss suction feed gun ! I,ll get some pics up tomorrw if it looks ok :whistling:
  16. BTW i know these are really brittle in two areas that have a gap in the backing , a pi55 poor design fault ! but to stop me sweating so much doing this i used some bumper repair glue and reinforcing mesh to strengthen it . My last one broke at one of these gaps so hopefully shouldn,t happen again:thumbup:
  17. Big day tomorrow , i,m painting it !! my arse is twitching already ! lol
  18. I think it,s quite common for the covering to peel off the inside of the targas and mine were terrible so i thought i,d re cover them. I removed the end caps and handle surround , the covering just about fell off !! i used a wire brush in as drill which removed the remains of the foam and glue as well , cut a bit of trimming vinyl to size , sprayed both with contact adhesive and once touch dry put the covering on , trimmed it up , glued the end caps back on and jobs a good un , looks as good as new .
  19. I bought a new trim and took a deep breath and started cutting it about, after doing a trial on an old broken trim to see if it would work ! http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=148783 Found another light which was longer than the one i did the trial with so it would fit better , removed the outer shell and trimmed it down to size . Cut out most of the original one and carefully removed the red lens inside A bit of trimming and in it went Looks alot more modern when lit and when it,s not it,s now clear instead of having the red lens showing through :hyper:
  20. One of the lads picked it up today to get it to work , gonna be masking it up after work through the week then next saturday I,M GONNA PAINT IT :dance::dance: Just ordered new roof and door trims , scuttle trims and the perspex strip for the tailgate , can,t have a shiny car with tatty bits put back on  Can,t wait to get it finished , although there,s still a fair bit to do
  21. Bloody brilliant answer :clap::clap::clap: pmsl
  22. If nissan charge £170 for one what do you reckon the chances of these working correctly for this price ?http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Knock-Sensor-NISSAN-200SX-SE-R-240SX-300ZX-ALTIMA-/280650881392?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4158189970 If they do we,re all onto a winner !! lol It,d be interesting to open one up and see if there,s owt inside :w00t:
  23. Posing git , i wanted to be the first ! lol , does look good though m8 :thumbup:
  24. I,ve got one of these , can,t fault it for the price bud !
  25. Nice one bud , makes you feel like you,ve achieved something when you do it yourself :thumbup1:
