  1. Hi After going through 2 sets of gauges from companies who swear blind they are visible during the day, i have finally got a set of Oil Temp and Boost gauges that i can see clearly during the brightest day as well as night, shown here.. Yep, digital, Smoked Black when off and they have a coloured sweep outer rim as well as the inner value, which shows volts on startup. I think they are quite cool..got them from http://www.rspec.co.uk, loads of other gauges as well at decent prices. Rich
  2. Okay, Lets assume its on the Oil Filter, Whats the easiest way to see this, from the top?, underneath?, which side ?, Rich
  3. Hi Been looking at the Oil Temp gauge , and was wondering where would be the most likely place for the sensor to be placed, (i think it is between the oil filter and the block, but not sure) and how do i get at it? Regards rich
  4. What would the ac engineer do with the gas whilst the compressor is being changed? Ric
  5. Do you know if its possible to clamp off the compressor so it can be removed and the new one put on, assuming of course the pipework is flexible not hard Rich
  6. What do you think about the Z1motorsports pipes from USA, prices are reasonable including postage. chrome plated aluminium $257 (£160) Stainless steel - $284 (£175) Chrome ones a bit pricey but the SS ones are not bad Any one had them? how do they compare with smithy's/DTA rich Rich
  7. Cheers Dan, Thanks for the info. Rich
  8. Hi The polished hard pipes that are available, as i see it there are the stainless steel ones and the chromed ones, any body know what base metal is used on the chromed set, and are the ss ones worth the extra. Another quickie, i've got a polished Plenum, has anybody chromed one, and if so, how much, is it worth it, is it a big difference Thanks Richard
  9. hi mate Well i've been having probs with my a/c, had it regassed with R24, (was R12) but no improvement, have been checking compressor's clutching and on a run decided to put it on full to see if it would sort itself out. awful noises, engine dying and smoke from the compressor is good enough for me, its died... Dont know how much there would be left under pressure, maybe none, maybe all, but once i change the compressor it'll need refilling. Rich
  10. Okay, thanks, is there a tried and trusted method, rich
  11. Hi Guys Ongoing air con prob, well the compressor died, so i need to replace it, now i'm sure i cant just disconnect the pipes and remove it ..or can i? Now the old R12 gas/fluid was replaced with current good stuff so can i just let it drain away Ric
  12. I'll have the wheels and that rear view mirror Awesome! R
  13. Yeah it is.. might be right there..,
  14. Hi A question for all you auto electricians out there, I have got a Boost gauge with a boost nipple out the back and 3 wires Black, Red, White, Instructions say connect Black to earth, Red to ACC (ignition accessory feed) and the White to the pos (+) of the battery. When i wired it up i only had ground and Acc feeds so i wired up the red and white together My one complaint to the supplier was that although i could now see the outer gauge numbers, i could not see the needle. they then sent me the instructions and said "have you wired it up correctly" obviously i hadn't so i spent today re-wiring it, However still no needle illumination, thats another story.. My questions is what is the need for the white lead, it obviously has ought to do with the needle illumination So why have it, it still illuminates without it? Regards Ric
  15. Chris Which ones do you plan to get? The Digital ones look a bit special... Ric
  16. okay thanks Maz, Another question relevant to this is where would be the best place to put the oil temp sender, i read somewhere you put a ring somewhere with the senders tapped hole somewhere. Thanks Ric PS just found something that says it is usually a sandwich plate between the body and the oil filter? is thi sa common place?
  17. By the way funky, does your monitor stay like that or does it retract in a head unit? rich
  18. No!! 'cos it was that one i didn't fancy much?..dam!! is it this one? If it is, double dam, i quite like that one...
  19. Funky Been wanting to say this for a while, but never had the juice 'cos you are a top member, but you only live once, so..Liking the car, but not digging the new steering wheel...maybe i have to be there.. Rich
  20. Hi i have replaced a Oil Temp Gauge with a different model, is it okay to use the existing send wire on the new gauge? (i've already done it, just want to check its okay) Also, i see some gauges are "stepper motor variety" , are there other types? Cheers Rich
  21. I have to say, if you're after Gauges, the site 'Artztogo' mentioned http://www.rspec.co.uk has some very nice gauges at reasonable prices.
  22. Si, its one of those mods where you just gotta be there to appreciate it.. Ric
  23. Took a picture this morning to show what you can see in the day, not bad actually, only criticism i would have is i cant see the needle to well, an illuminated one would have been better, Ah well the search goes on.
