  1. Cheers, at what temp does the Aircon fan kick-in and cut-off do we know? And I notice you use a balance bar across your throttle bodies - what is the advantage of that setup and is it related to twin pops? Nice car BTW.
  2. Cany EDIT! Meant to say.. I am pushing cos I think if I pull - then a custom shroud will be required that allows air to also pass in through the sides and bottom that would otherwise be disrupted by the shrouded fan. I believe that by pushing (having the fan on the outside) most of this ploblem goes away as the ram air will find its way around the fan into the rad/engine anyway. Racers use push more than Pull I am informed - someone will confirm/deny I am sure ;-)
  3. Thanks Silverbullet - you managed to anticipate my next question ;-)) Did you wire the new 16" fan into the old Aircon fan supply/switch/thermostat? Or fit a new inline thermostat - and if so where is the best place for that? I assumed that the (now retired) air con fan would not be powerful enough to be used as a replacement for the viscous unit - and I want to bin the viscous unit so... I have ordered today a 16 inch (capacity 2540 Cubic Feet Minute) electric unit that I plan to put on the outside of the rad and push rather than pull. I am pushing cos I think if I pull then a custom shroud will be required that I plan to make a custom shroud that fits the fan but also allows ram air through the sides/bottom that would otherwise be limited by the fan. There is a lot of info on the Aussie site [below] regarding this topic that is very useful - and of course it's a good deal warmer out there as well. http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-281732.html I hope that helps someone else also. I will post progress when I have some.
  4. ...related to the Air Conditioning? I have removed all of the air-con - and I am checking that the electric fan is for the benefit of the engine cooling - not the passenger cooling :D
  5. Many thanx- appreciated matey.
  6. I fitted one to one of my zeds -I can't see how it will fit with a standard bumper - had to fabricate special brackets and make other mods to get it to fit my Stillen bumper! BUT please dont knock the quality of the unit (just because it's on ebay) - it really is very good - and is simply older re-badged stock (that once was retailed at over £300.00) that is now being cleared off someones inventory. If your cars off the road and you have a spare day to make it fit - it is a very good unit IMHO. :o AndyGP
  7. Thanks Guys - much appreciated - I am slightly worried about moving something out of timeline and messing my engine when I put stuff back together and firing her up. DO I need to put down any marks at all - after setting Cyl 1 to TDC etc etc??
  8. Hi Weazel - the four at the top!
  9. I have a local guy do it for me..
  10. Hi - I am being poncy and having my Crank Sprockets chromed like Luke's - I am quite scared about removing them though - should I be? :D I have a sprocket puller so... put down some timing marks, loosen the belt and remove the sprocket - it's that simple right? Have a good weekend guys n gals Andy
  11. Good advice thanks Dan - Will do.
  12. Yeah - I have seen them upside down, sideways etc. And I am still not sure if there is a right or wrong way to mount them. They have feet on the bottom so...
  13. Does it really matter which way an oil cooler is orientated? Inlet/outlets at the bottom/top/sides? One is for the Auto Tansmission Oil - the other for Engine Oil I am thinking NOT! But just wanted to check with a GURO. ;)
  14. Let me know how you get on - I am interested also. Cheers.
  15. Here you go... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120395231319&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&viewitem=
  16. Hiya - I ended up buying a unit from Japspeed - here.. http://www.japspeed.co.uk/Nissan-300ZX/Nissan-300ZX-Front-Mount-Intercooler-Kit/p-18-1-240/ It does not really fit with a standard front bumper I am told - and I can imagine that is true - I had to do a lot of mods to make it right. But I am very happy with the end result. Or rather I was before I ripped it all out and started doing more mods at the front of the car - doh! ;)
  17. These are beautiful in stainless steel - can we get Smithy to knock some of these up ;-)) Currently about 110 squids plus 50 P&P Hmmmmm Come on smithy...
  18. google is your friend...:o
  19. Maybe - maybe not -but reset first Stellaz to be sure.
  20. Having replaced the radiator with a nice (shiney) fat after market unit I still have the forward placed aircon radiator blocking/sharing it's direct air path. Having put in a massive (shiney) intercooler and two seperate Autobox and engine oil (shiney) rads I am not happy with the crappy aircon rad (not shiney)!!:( I am a pussy and I don't want to lose the aircon (did I just say that :x:) - so the question is... Is there an alternative to the aircon rad - maybe from another car or is there something special about it? I am open to blue-sky thinking here chaps :D PS: Did I mention it has to be shiney :xxx:
  21. I got my 2 x mocal's from Raceparts
  22. ...into the main rad - but on my old beast (1990 jap) it was seperate - and hiding behing the main rad. Is this normal? When I replace my rad with a 52mm non turbo rad - will all the water pipes still line up - or will I need to mod again? There are two 10mm pipes/connectors on the passenger side of the rad I seem to remember. Cheers guys. :o
