Alternater
i changed mine with just the front end on a jack and axle stands. it was a bit tight dropping the alternator out past whatever bar was under it and hard work getting the new one back in whilst lying on your backwith it an inch above your face, i found a good guide on replacing it : http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=main&msg_id=653952

Go on..... Scare me to death!
about 10 years ago my dentist made an apointment for me to have my wisdom teeth out at the hospital. i chickened out and didnt go. all was fine for about 5 years until one wisdom tooth decided to come through and shatered the tooth next to it as it came out. jaw got infected, 2 weeks of antibiotics before i could open my mouth enough for the dentist to get the pliers in my mouth. about 2 hours in the dentist to get it removed including him having his feet up on the chair to get enough leverage to get it out (and he's not a small bloke- for those of you into wwe imagine kain when he was in the dentist phase , isaac jankem i think he was called), a swolen face for about a week and constant problems from the adjacent tooth (just had the nerve removed for the second time last month as it had grown back and had me in tears) so the moral of the story: go to the hospital, take the general, less pain all round

Double Din Brackets
the stock is 2 single units with a gap between, not a double unit. so ignoring the plastic bar in the middle, i dont think the side brackets will bolt on properly. fairly sure there was a proper double din bracket available on latter models. didnt someone do this recently and buy the proper brackets and complete double din vent pannel? aha , there you are , it was funkysi i was thinking of

What is happening to our club ?
perhaps there has been a lack of comunication / misunderstanding?? back when i joined the club japshow, japshow finale, japfest etc were considered national events. maybe the regonal organiser didn't realise they were now regional events??? perhaps if the regonal organiser for whatever region santa pod is in doesn't have the time to organise both japshows then we could take ceejay up on his offer to organise the next japshow????? i went to japshow finale last year and must have seen over 30 300zx there but only actually talked to 2 other owners as they were spread all over site (i think this was because there was no 300zx stand) this was one of the (two) main reasons i didnt go to japshow this year; if there had been a 300zx stand and i could have got out of work i would definately been there again no predjudice, no having a go at anyone, just suggesting ways i think we could make things even better ian

speedo problem
the clocks are fed from the speed sensor and then feed the ecu. a uk stock clock will have both kmph and mph on the dial a stock jap clock just has kmph, when you fit a converter chip you just stick a bit of black tape over the k and magik it is reading mph i've taken the converter chip out of my import as it was sh1t and stopping the power stearing working. i get exactly what you describe. if the ecu has been altered then the limiter could have been removed in the programing. removing the limiter would allow the car to go fast enough to get the needle off the end of stock jap clocks

clutch
so do NA drivers have stronger leg muscles than TT drivers? or is the NA clutch lighter? now i don't have " assistance" i can only drive for about 10 minutes before my knee gives up working
-
clutch
did the stock NA manual come with a servo assisted clutch like the TT does? the online manual seems to sugest to me it didn't if it did where did it get its vacuum feed from as the TT seems to have extra vacuum tanks for it? i had the feeling it came straight off the balance bar (and that is why NA manual and auto balance bars are different) but now i'm not so sure
