V8 Progress
I reckon it looks great with the covers black TBH.

tuning question
I'd do some reading before you tinker! The ideal timing depends on loads of different variables, and there's no real easy way to know it's right without a dyno.

Superb news :hyper: :hyper: It was always pretty obvious what was going on, especially to anyone who knows Fred, but thank god it's all sorted finally mate.

*****tyre Warning********
It scared Ryan more than me, but he's a big girl anyway  Or to be fair, he was standing right next to it when it went, and I was in the car. Was kinda hairy actually, even managed to get a bit stuck in my throat because I inhaled it :o

FAO Mr Dixon et al: V8 goodies
No point, Leigh's arches won't fit down the strip at the pod, we'll need to hire an airfield

FAO Mr Dixon et al: V8 goodies
Knew I should have asked you first mate! BTW, that's a phosphorus recovery tank. If it were phosphine in there I wouldn't be that close, believe me. Aside from that, it's a gas anyway so it wouldn't be in there in the first place

FAO Mr Dixon et al: V8 goodies
Don't think anything's going to make this shift pass quickly! Apparently there's too much THP in our tetrakishydroxmethylphosphoniumsulphate at the minute, and I'm not entirely sure why. Was sure the stoichiometry was right too :( Oh, and it looks like the kinetics modelling I did for the control of the phosphorus converter may have used inaccurate data, or that's the only way I can explain what's happening at the minute. May well break into that bottle of single barrel tonight!

whats your ultimate car
Yeah, only decent car merc have ever made, even if it does set its self alight if you stop in traffic! That particular one is for sale for 990,000 euro's just now. Seems a little steep, but you do get this spare power pack with it, be good for a caterham!

whats your ultimate car
One of these: CLKGTR, F50 or 205T16

Turbo Lag
That's exactly it, people always use the term lag when what they are actually talking about is boost threshold. B.t. is not that annoying, if you keep in the power band you don't experience it other then pulling of or changing too soon. Lag is a whole different matter, there's not too much you can do about it, and for me it completely ruins the driving experience. I've always thought it feels like the throttle cable is elastic and it takes a while for the engine to catch up with what you want. The way the boost collapses when you come off the gas makes it difficult to be accurate with the throttle too.
-
Turbo Lag
You'll either learn to live with it, or you'll always hate it like i did. You learn to drive around it to a certain extent, but you just don't have the adjustability or response of an NA and never will have.

How to drive after resetting the ECU?
Doesn't really matter, but as it's only in closed loop at lowish revs/load just take it easy for a while.
-
What sensors affect idling?
Most likely when it's sudden rise like that is the closed position switch.

Advise on JD chip
Sent you a PM mate.

Advise on JD chip
In all honesty you'll struggle to get 375 on stockish car with a chip. I with 555's and intercoolers + chip you'll get there (I did). JWT IMO are pretty poor too conservative and the fuel maps are hardly modded from stock.

ABS removal?? who has or knows what??
Should be doing it in the next few weeks, when I finish working shifts. Looks pretty simple actaully. Will get some pics etc.

New devs: Stage 3 Heads + prop
If you're paying a stupidly low price, then the work will be stupidly bad. Good head work takes ages to do and always costs. 'Stage 3' really doesn't mean anything outside of one company's catalogue everyone's stage 3 is different. If you want the heads done, speak to charlie at CTM, or Dave Baker at Puma race engines.

Fitting an N/A diff to TT
Or if you fancy a plate diff, get a cusco one and they do a choice of ratios.
