  1. Sounds about right, what sort of CR are you running on yours? Still considering carb? Just thinking with what holleys cost a decent management system will not be much more. Never mind santa pod, it's the 'ring I'm looking forward to :D
  2. Why not, should be interesting.
  3. It's soooooo frustrating though  If I had a couple of solid days to work on it with the right tools I'm sure I'd get it sorted but I just don't have the time at the minute. Work-wise it should calm down soon as I'm just finishing up commissioning one project and the next one will take most of the year in design time so will be back in the office then most of the time hopefully.
  4. Glad you all like it. Will happily take you a spin but at this rate it might have to be in 2010!
  5. That's the benefit of the quiet pipe! It's actually quite civilised like that. There's a fiesta a round the corner that makes more noise  million watt stereo and 3" exhaust on a 1.1 - Nice!
  6. Worth that for the engine!
  7. Yeah it sounds better but it's also LOUD!!! Would get nicked in about 10 seconds!
  8. Vid when trying to track down missfire. Sounds a bit rubbish as running on 5 but you can hear the difference between the 2 exhaust modes.
  9. No, because the injector is fitted into the manifold, not the TB its self. Could swap the manifolds side to side but if I remove one, hopefully I can spot the problem.
  10. Yeah, think that's most likely, maybe an edge not machined between the injector boss and the runner or something. Will strip it when I get time (working away again until end of month ) On the road for March is looking ever more unlikely! Good V6, what for, an anchor
  11. Lol, yeah, I point-to-point checked all the wiring from ECU to coils/injectors.
  12. Yes missing to that extent! Removing the injectro plugs makes NO difference at all - see in the vid I pull them off at the start. Yes, they were all sparking but had wondered if some of the sparks were just too weak. Seem to have eliminated that now though by all the swapping around. Timing off is a possibility but it's fired wasted spark and the paired cyls are working OK. 1 8 7 3 6 5 4 2 Think I'll get an oscilloscope on all the connectors and see if I can see a difference between them. Also try some easystart down the runners of those 2 cyls and see if that brings them up temporarily.
  13. OK, I have a missfire on my engine at all revs including idle. Cyls 2 and 4 not running at all - see vid here http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xwE1LD4XrO0 You can hear the difference in the exhaust bypass too. Diagnostics so far: Compression test - all cyls 16bar Removed sparkplugs from engine and grounded them. Turned engine over and all plugs sparking. Manually shorted ECU outputs to check each coil on correct output - OK Manually shorted ECU outputs to check each injector on correct output - OK Increased coil dwell time - no change. Ran new heavy gauge +ve/-ve lines directly from battery to coils. No change. Swapped coilpacks from 1/3 to 2/4 - missfire still on 2/4 Swapped injectors from 6/8 to 2/4 - missfire still on 2/4 Swapped ignition modules from bank to bank - missfire still on 2/4 Swapped coil sub-harnesses from bank to bank - missfire still on 2/4 Changed sparkplugs - no change Any ideas greatly appreciated, it's really annoying me now!!!! I'm beggining to wonder if it's something physical, maybe the injector angle is off on these 2 cyls and the fuel is running down the manifold wall instead of entering the cyl as a mist or something. Will need to investigate more when I get time. If I enrich the mixture on all cyls then re-connect the injectors on these 2 I can get some spitting back like you normally get through the intakes with a too-lean mixture.
  14. Alright Si! Imagine seeing you on here. The air box is actually nearly finished, Leon is just welding it up, will be done for new year. Just got a mis-fire on no 2 cyl to track down then finish off the MOT stuff and get it on the road. Give me a shout if you're passing as it's back at home now so you can have a nosey.
  15. OK, looks like can get these done for £500 in T45, MSA certified if anyone interested. For pics see previous thread: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=117240&referrerid=239
  16. If it falls through, I have a gearbox, pedal box and shifter linkage all available. You'd just need a flywheel/clutch and prop section
  17. Will get some prices this week then and see if there's enough interest.
  18. It may even be cheaper than before as the new supplier is doing T45 cheaper than clubman 500 at the minute.
  19. I tried to organise a group buy a while back, do a search and you'll see some pics. Main difference with the cusco is it dodges the dash so it's easier to fit but not as strong. May now be able to do a buy on these with only 2-3 units as have found a steel supplier with no minimum order quantity.
  20. Hi Mate, As Dave says, you're best on high octane. And check the timing etc. Also, if you're O2 sensors are lazy it might be getting leaned out a bit if they're giving over-rich readings. Try resetting the ECU overnight by disconnecting the battery and see if that cures it temporarily.
  21. Worst case you should be able to make up a take-off plate to re-locate the oil filter remotely and loose the housing. It only needs to be big enough to get 2 -10 fittings onto. Should free up a fair bit of space.
  22. James, It's either: Closed all the time, open all the time or switched rpm>x and throttle>x. Depends on the setting on a dash switch.
  23. Leon's been working on it while I'm stuck in Norfolk working. Superb job again, you can see why it's worth the trip to Wrexham. Should sound a bit mad with the bypass open!
  24. YEah it is more compact that way. Still if it's good enough for bugatti ....
  25. Not too sure on HP. I'd guess somewhere between 450-600 based on the spec but I may have got my calcs wrong, messed up the design and it might only make 200. Hope not!! Should be on the dyno for mapping early next yesr so we'll see what it can do then.
