Ringing in ear after hammering
At he moment, it's basically "get a hearing aid", they have made great advancements in feedback problems, bone conduction and various other aspects of hearing loss. Even stem cell technology is being looked at, but just now - if your hard of hearing - it's a hearing aid.... I wear one at work, even then they have to speak to my face in order for me to fully pick up what's being said, a microphone cannot replace the human ear - yet.

Ringing in ear after hammering
Hi Jamez, Ive had tinnitus for many years now and I've also lost all my high frequency hearing, meaning that I have to wear a hearing aid to to hear conversations and have subtitles on when watching TV. I work in a garage, so there are always the sounds of hammering, airguns, engines being revved etc - sometimes I do cover my ears when it gets too loud, as it doesn't help my (lack) of hearing or tinnitus at all. However, I've never had to endure physical pain as a result of a loud noise or noises - sorry, maybe in the future you should think about wearing ear defenders or as I do - an old pair of headphones (lead cut off of course). If it persists, go see the doc. I really miss having a good pair of fully working ears

Alternative fan cowl - what choices?
Thanks for the quick reply Mark, I quite fancied something other than the original fan shroud, if such reasonable priced item exists:confused1:

Alternative fan cowl - what choices?
I cack handedly managed to snap my fan cowl in half the other night - :hammer: What is available (other than than the OE fitment) that will fit a Koyo radiator?

What did you do to your zed today?
I finished putting the Zed back together after fitting new timing and auxiliary belts etc, lo and behold - she started up on first try  Well pleased, as I've never replaced a timing belt on any car - far less a Zed - now for the MOT and then the Japspeed decats

What did you do to your zed today?
Refitted the lower cambelt cover and crankshaft pulley, fitted three new drive belts and two water hoses (the short ones at the front of the engine).........more tomorrow night.

Cambelt autotensioner gap?
Thanks for that Jeff, also many, many thanks for the cambelt alignment thread - easily understood (even by me) and spot on. The autotensioner actually moved to the gap you see, when I tightened up the tensioner pulley bolt - is that normal? Andy

Cambelt autotensioner gap?
I eventually plucked up the courage to replace the cambelt on the Zed, does this gap on the autotensioner look ok?

Organising anything soon?
Not as bad as it sounds (I hope) - I'm replacing the timing belt, auxiliary belts, water pump and thermostat, the only part that I'm not confident about is getting the timing marks on the timing belt and pulleys matched up correctly. I've never changed a timing belt on any car before, so I'm a wee bit wary of it  Anyway - a two hundred mile dog walk........... The poor wee dug will be knackered
-
Timing belt replacement thread?
Yes thanks, didn't Jefftt do a "how to" for cam belt replacement?
-
Timing belt replacement thread?
Ok, sorry but I just can't find a detailed thread on how to change the timing belt on the Zed :blushing: Can some kind person please point me in the right direction?

Organising anything soon?
Is this you making up for last year's inactivity then? :sleep1:  Not a problem Robert, I took it to bits - I'm sure that I can put it back together again :hammer::hammer::sweatdrop:
-
Organising anything soon?
Mid May would probably be ok for me, I've got the timing belt, water pump etc. to put on but hopefully that shouldn't take too long as I now have the required parts. All I really need now is the required knowledge to do the job

Crankshaft pulley puller

Crankshaft pulley puller
Well, after a long winter's hibernation - I'm ready to work on the Zed again. I need to remove the crankshaft pulley in order to replace the timing belt but the puller that I borrowed from work was too big. What kind of puller is everybody using and would this Halford's puller do the job? http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_172484_langId_-1_categoryId_255216#tab3 Thanks in advance - Andy

Yes, a very nice few hours escape from the mundane, just a shame that we couldn't have a few more Zeds turn up. That wee Fiat (sorry, Abarth) can't half shift tho' Anyway, here's some more foties......................
