Yep, it's a lovely sunny day here also, a nice day for the meet in Edinburgh. Clear blue skies, a hard frost and grit on the roads already

Viscous fan coupling problems
A couple of months ago, my viscous fan coupling decided to spit out all it's oil, I replaced it with a second hand one (very kindly donated by bruce300). This also has now decided to spray it's oil content all over the surrounding area.... Is there something causing this to happen or is it a pretty common occurrence? What's the best way forward - another viscous fan coupling or go the electric fan road?

What did you do to your zed today?
I refitted the Zed's ECU (which now has a Zedworld chip installed), fitted a pair of 1mm boost jets and then went out and put a big smile on my face :D

Squealing on start up
It's more than likely to be one of the auxiliary belts, they don't cost much and are reasonably easy to replace. I replaced mine when I did the cambelt, even then the alternator belt squealed until I adjusted it properly... It is annoying 'tho - I'll give you that

Projected BHP?
Thanks for the prompt replies guys, looking forward ........what's the next item or items that would need to be upgraded or changed to improve the BHP even more? I intend to keep the autobox, just in case someone suggests a change to manual, am I looking at better SMICs, larger capacity injectors, 2.5" intake piping??? I would like to aim a wee bit higher - maybe around 350 ~ 380 BHP if possible.

Projected BHP?
Ok, today I've sent my '93 Auto TT ECU away to Jeff at Zedworld to have a Zedworld chip fitted :D My car is pretty much stock, apart from an Apexi intake (single), Japspeed decats (inc Turbo elbows) and a Mongoose exhaust, given that the Zed has 97,000 miles on it and is Twenty years old - what kind of BHP am I looking at, after the ECU has been chipped? The car runs well, boosts well and appears to have been well looked after by it's previous owners, it's never let me down. On average (if there is such a measurement) - how much power (BHP), is lost over the years and how can it be reclaimed? I know that this like asking "how long is a piece of string?" but some idea, even a guesstimate would be a start. I await in anticipation......Andy

Zed back from NI
Hi Nick, As I said, I did the cambelt, auxiliary drive belts, water pump etc - there's a very detailed write up on the forum for these. Also did Coilovers (quite easy to do), CD player, HID conversion, decats etc. I'm not capable of producing a good job with body filler, so that and a partial respray was left to the experts. The only jobs that I couldn't or wouldn't do, would be the tyres and any paintwork or dents that needed filled. However, the Zed is only a weekend car, so I can take my time with these things. If it was my daily drive........that would be different!

Zed back from NI
Are you mechanically minded, did you do running repairs on any of your previous cars? If you're always going to have to pay someone else to have it repaired - then yes, it may well become a money pit :( However, if you have some mechanical knowledge, the time and the patience - try doing things yourself, there are plenty of good walkthroughs and advice available for carrying out repairs, deletes and modifications to your Zed. I had never replaced a timing belt on any car (far less a Zed) but with the help of JeffTT's fantastic timing belt replacement walkthrough - I did it and ....it started first time - lol I hope that I'm not preaching to the converted but it does save money to do it yourself - if you can.

whats the top speed you had out you z
I value my life and my licence too much, to even contemplate driving my Zed at that kind of speed :scooter:

Classic Rover on Eastenders
One of the first cars that I drove when I passed my driving test all these years ago, was my dad's Rover 2000 SC. Just the car to drive when you're seventeen, just passed your test and petrol's 36p a gallon :D

What did you do to your zed today?
Removed the LH section of my Mongoose exhaust, modified the hanger brackets ( it was hitting the rear bumper crossmember since the Japspeed decats were fitted), adjusted the fan belt - it doesn't squeal now and cleaned my wheels with Autosol.

Beaten - by One bolt.....
Well, after getting a bit help with this stubborn bolt..............it snapped :( At the moment, the plan is to bolt up my Japspeed elbows using the one bolt and two nuts that I can use ( it was only held on with two bolts and one nut anyway and was running fine). Of course it may well go pear shaped when the turbo's discover a certain lack of back pressure but I'll deal with that when the need arises.
