  1. The CAS doesn't need to be flapping around loose, just loose enough that you can move it a fraction by tapping it with a screwdriver handle. You'll probably only have to move it a mm or so.
  2. Thanks for your letter. Couldn't work out your forum name having searched through the existing registered members. All membership transactions are carried out online for this club, we do not have any paper forms. Please use the Paypal link, or one of the other methods of payment. Contact the Membership Secretary (300zx_girl) or me if you have any other questions. Thanks
  3. Run memtest (from memtest.org or on an Ubuntu boot disk) and check the memory isn't suffering from multiple errors.
  4. The problem is that it can detect det above about 3.5k but it can't differentiate it from the rest of the engine noise at those speeds, so you would get false positives.
  5. Use an MR2 supercharger, not a turbo. Friend of mine is building a Raw Striker at the moment.
  6. I'm going to the Classic this year, not the main one.
  7. And literally just around the corner from me right now ....
  8. Some do, some don't. Like I said, Pete had his reasons for doing it that way and I've never got around to experimenting otherwise. I had contemplated using the base Nissan map but didn't really think that would be suitable. 'Borrowing' someone elses map seemed like a reasonable idea but then you are just gambling that they did it right. Chucking fuel at the problem is not the right answer and can cause problems as well.
  9. Yes, that is correct, they have the same map in twice, that was intentional. It is something I have considered altering myself but never got around to doing and testing on my car.
  10. Check the earth connections. Do all the dash lights dim when you try to start it ?
  11. I'm thinking about tarting up my webs(h)ite a bit and would appreciate some advice on the best (free) development tool available. At the moment it's all done in FrontPage and it shows ! It needs to be something which makes updates easy as keeping on top of all those links is a real drag. What I don't want is super complicated flash stuff with moving graphics and all that cak, but I would be really interested if there was a tool which allowed simultaneous development of both normal (eg PC) and mobile content without doing it all twice. Any recommendations ?
  12. It isn't 100% essential, but you would have to keep the boost below 12psi and on good fuel and be careful on warm days etc, without a re-map. Rubbing the lucky rabbit foot may also help ...
  13. Det typically occurs, fairly briefly, around peak torque, so 3250 auto, 3750 manual. For that to extend up to 6500 there must be something causing a significant problem. My chips to not have separate maps for safety boost (that was a conscious decision by SE) and if you are running a boost controller then very little different happens when you 'think' you are in safety boost.
  14. Agreed. That is not high boost, I ran that on a standard ECU for a couple of years without problem. You can get det if the gain is too high on the boost controller. Where in the rev range does the det occur and under what conditions ?
  15. Check the base timing with a strobe, the ConZult tells you nothing except what it thinks it should be ! Plus how much boost are you running ?
  16. Yep, overnight would be fine.
  17. You would have been sent an automatic reminder email, but you need to double check that your profile has the correct email address registered and that it didn't get caught in a spam filter. Bank transfers also take a couple of days.
  18. Stilsons are just f-off great pliers really. Use of nut splitters is probably self-explanatory, once you know what they look like. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-Piece-Nut-Bolt-Splitter-Cutter-Set_W0QQitemZ150243513865QQihZ005QQcategoryZ30917QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  19. Well the final option is a nut splitter then - if you have room.
  20. Try Plus Gas, WD40 is useless for that kind of thing. By stripped I presume you mean it now has no flats on it ? Get it mega hot, and I mean glowing dull red, hammer on a smaller socket, maybe an imperial one, or a 6 point socket, or one of those 4wd sockets and then use an air impact driver. If that doesn't work, grind it off.
  21. Take a look here as well :- http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/FAQ/FAQpages/hesitate2.html
  22. So, not so very far from me then !
  23. The easiest solution is to install an ECU from an earlier car and then chip that. A number of people have done that successfully.
  24. Sorted !
  25. Erm not feeling 100% sober right now. Ask me tomorrow or search for posts by Eigiserwind ...
