When it comes to cross-sectional area, 2.5 + 2.5 does not equal 5. 3.5 diameter is close to double the area of 2.5 diameter.

I think it's important to know the reason why it was welded. A good weld can be stronger than the original material. My rear calipers are welded, as they are modified to fit the car.

I've fixed dozens of clocks over the years - and they all still work !

There are a few around who will have had their cars longer than me - look in the membership list and work out who's still here. It was my everyday car for 6 years, but it's not been used nearly as much since then.

It'll be 12 years in September I think !!

I guess it electically isolates the bell wire, therefore reduced interference.
