Yes, if you fit the speedo convertor it will make the 180kph speedo read 180mph and the speed limiter will be raised to approx 180mph too.

Did you double double check that the long blue plug on the ECU is seated correctly ? Have you opened the ECU and checked that the chip is still seated correctly ?

I had a similar problem and it was down to poor spark plugs. I replaced the 10,000 mile old Iridiums with pukka NGK jobbies and it worked fine afterwards. A 'normal' garage ought to be able to work out how to set the ignition timing, but you may need to give them a bit of guidance for how to get the signal from the inductive loop and where the CAS is etc.
