  1. Too right. It's great to have your engine connected directly to the back wheels rather than through some fluid.
  2. Yes, but they often don't get delivered because people have out of date email addresses registered or they get caught in spam filters.
  3. As you're local to me I know there was a big litter of black ones available recently. Not sure whether they're all gone to people in the village yet, but PM me if you want me to ask around.
  4. I'm sure there's either a US or an Aus site that lists the colours for each year. Probably taken from a brochure of the time. Don't think I have a brochure of that date to check.
  5. Anywhere that sells them. http://www.microdirect.co.uk
  6. iTunes is free, in fact they usually try and force it on you along with QuickTime.
  7. Yep, make sure you don't have any cars registered after 1/3/2001 - presume that's 01-March-2001.
  8. The rise in VED for Band G cars - which include not only 4x4s but also some large people carriers and estate cars - was accompanied by a £10 rise for Band F vehicles, the next most polluting cars. But while the least polluting Band A cars will continue to pay no VED, the next cleanest in Band B will see their rate cut by £15 to £35. So what he's really doing is using the totally non-stealth green tax to push cars of the road and avoid extra investment in roads. This means less spending and more tax income - a double whammy for government coffers.
  9. From the man himself :- Vehicle Excise Duty A.91 Graduated Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) rates for band G cars will increase to £300 in 2007-08, £400 in 2008-09 and frozen in 2009-10. Band B reduces to £35 this year, with this rate then frozen for the next 2 years. Band F increases by £10 in 2007-08 and £5 in each of the next two years. Rates for Bands C-E, pre-2001 cars and vans, and post-2001 vans will rise by £5 in each of the next three years. VED rates for petrol and diesel cars are aligned. In 2007-08 only, the rates for motorbikes in the lower band will be frozen, with higher bands increased by £1- £2; and rates for heavy goods vehicles (HGV), special types vehicles, combined transport vehicles and all vehicle categories that are linked to the basic goods rate will be frozen. Changes to VED rates for 2007-08 take effect from 22 March 2007. So what band is a 3.0 litre petrol sports car dating back to early 1990's ?
  10. Top man !
  11. Sounds like it's knackered. It may be fixable or it may be preferable to but a new, UK unit.
  12. Amps equals watts divided by volts, so if it's a 60 watt bulb (HID isn't), divided by 12 volts equals 5 amps. So 5 amps would be sufficient for a single HID.
  13. And a switch with four connections would normally be a double pole - don't worry about it - not needed in this instance.
  14. Yeah, that should work - can't go far wrong with that.
  15. Yeah, better walk on the pavement not the road ! :)
  16. If you have a Garmin you can connect it to the serial port and use their nRoute program. I suspect other GPSs with a serial output would work too.
  17. Wearing glasses does tend to weaken the eyes, contact lenses tend not to have the same effect. Firstly because the eye operates normally, ie the focusing muscles do not get as weak. Secondly the contact lens reduces the amount of oxygen that gets to the cornea which reduces the 'thickening' of it over time - this is another factor which causes change and deterioration.
  18. As most of you will know, for the past couple of years, JAE has been held at the East of England showground near Peterborough. Before that, it was held at Billing Aquadrome. Many members said that they enjoyed the atmosphere and facilities at Billing far more than at Peterborough. After considering the feedback from our members, the Club has decided to hold it's main annual event and AGM at Billing this year. This event will still be a full weekend (Saturday & Sunday) and members will be able to camp from the Friday afternoon. The dates for the event is Friday 13th July ~ Sunday 15th July. Another major factor for the switch is to join the Z Club in celebrating their 30th Birthday as a club. All Zed clubs have been invited to join them in celebrating the event and we feel it will be the perfect occasion to hold our annual event and AGM in a more family orientated environment. As you know JAE at Peterborough will encompass all Japanese cars, whereas Billing will be dedicated to Nissan Z sports cars. The Club is committed to ensuring that this years event will be the biggest and best yet. As well as the usual club marquee, food and drink, there will be additional attractions and details of these will be posted in the National Events forum in the near future. The Club will also be holding the AGM and awarding the trophies at this event. The Club is committed to continuous improvement and therefore we will be asking for your feedback on the event in the Autumn. We will make a decision at that time, about the 2008 event location. If we get poor feedback after Billing, we will consider a switch back to Peterborough the following year. We acknowledge that some members will have already made arrangements for JAE and we apologise for any inconvenience. However, we feel we have made the switch for the right reasons. The Club will still have a plot at JAE this year, although it will be on a smaller scale than the past two years, with no marquee etc. which is in line with the Z Club approach last year. If members intend to be present at both events, that’s fine. - all you have to do is add your name to both lists. We would encourage all members who are choosing to attend one event, to support the club and attend the Billing event with the Z Club, as this event is now our official 2007 Summer event. Please take the time to add you name to the appropriate list and let us know when you intend to arrive, ie. Fri ~ Sun, Sat only etc. Regards The 300ZX.co.uk Committee
  19. Or worn tie bar bushes ...
  20. Well I have pretty much the same setup at home, but no similar problems.
  21. For the benefit of us only partially metric people, 256kw is approx 345hp http://www.statman.info/conversions/power.html
  22. Don't get too excited the vbGarage s/w plugin is not compatible with the new version of the forum s/w that will be installed in the next couple of weeks. We will have an alternative, but it won't be identical.
  23. I broke it (although I don't quite know how) ! And if I did know how then I'd fix it, but I don't ..... Anyway, in the mean time you have to live with it and go the long way round to find it. Sorry
