  1. Go get yourself sub'd mate, it'll be a lot easier in the long run, for reasons already mentioned...then you can Rx PM's etc ref your zed
  2. Back in '07 I wanted a Skyline GTR, but couldn't justify the cost at the time. I saw the 'Old vs New' Top Gear episode where the 300zx spanks the 350z by a good margin and did a quick search on tinter'web. I found a tidy example on ebay and made the drive down south for a view and test drive. If I'm honest I wasn't completely blown away by the power of the TT but figured that it was decent bang for the buck and a good base to start modifying. I paid a deposit there and then and was the new owner a few days later.
  3. Got any pics mate :thumbup1:
  4. That's exactly what I've put it down to I always assumed (stupidly) that the discs and calipers were interchangeable but the brackets are obviously different, otherwise I could have put the 330mm at the rear with the 6 pots and kept the 12 pots up front but with the 356mm discs....obviously I learnt that that couldn't be done because the front and rear discs centres (?) are very different also
  5. Nope  To be honest I followed what he was saying, the emphasis being that it wasn't the amount of pistons per caliper that was important (this led to a further conversation about AP vs Ksport which I wanted to avoid) but more so it's the contact area that is important (I assume by that he means disc size and pad size?) and that the best setup would be double brake effectiveness at the front than is at the rear (ie. 12 pots + 6 pots) with appropriate sized discs. This didn't ring true at the time as I recall reading in JP or Banzai that the best brake set up would be 6 pots all round; and now they've told you 8 pots up front and 6 pots rear is best?? The conversation ended with me buying some EBC pads as a temporary fix for the 8 pots and basically them saying that if I was going to fit my 6 pots and 356mm discs rear then I would need to order another set of 8 pots with at least 356mm discs for the front but would also need to purchase a brake biase?? They offered to ship the 8 pots and 356mm discs to me the following morning, but I wanted a second opinion, so greatfully declined. I might just have to bite the bullet and source another pair of SSR's for the front or similar Enkei's because I won't the 12 pots on the front just to see what they're like compared to the 8's
  6. Ksports are a good bet mate, but be weary of internal rim clearances etc and the customer service is pretty shoddy ref 8 pots front/6 pots rear, this is something that has been bugging me for a month or so now. In a nutshell the shortie currently has 8 pot Ksports on 330mm discs at the front and OEM at the rear, however the other month when the front pads needed doing I had a garage try to fit the 12 pot Ksports on 380mm discs up front and 6 pot Ksports on 356mm discs at the rear, but the 12 pots were catching on the inside of my old Enkeis, so off they came. I spoke to Kev at Apex Performance to see what he suggested and he recomended not to put the 6 pots on the rear with the 8 pots up front. I assume in my case that's because the disc size at the front would then be smaller than that at the rear? I'm now in a ******* of a situation because I've got a set of RAYS fitted as a temporary measure, whilst I sort out the shipping of my pair of rear SSR's from Japan (Typically both the 12 pots and 6 pots fit inside the RAYS perfectly, I just don't particularly want these rims on the car permanantely). I'm still in the same predicament as before as the 12 pots won't fit the Enkeis (the Enkeis's match the SSR's perfectly and are intended to go up front) :headvswal I suppose what's important to note here mate, is that if you do go for a big brake conversion, check, check and double check that they will fit inside the rims that you want to stay on the car or it can get very expensive to rectify. but Ksports are very good for the money bud On a positive note, apparently my shortie' already has braided brake hoses fitted.....
  7. Hello bud, I picked the Calsonic oil cooler up off a guy on Driftworks, he thought that it came off a Skyline though I'm not sure if it's stock on a GTR? The Arc oil cooler is aftermarket and off a Skyline BNR34 GTR.
  8. Certainly does mate, although the import model oil cooler is a lot smaller than the UK model
  9. Well I just punched mine in and as it turns out....apparently I was a naughty boy when I was travelling in Japan?????? http://www.****edgaijin.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22755 http://www.****edgaijin.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4084 Different 'japslapper' I hasten to add, despite the fact that we're both Welsh.....purely coincidence I'm sure! I was somewhere else in 2003 :innocent:
  10. I was thinking of using the Greddy/Grex kit, would that be suitable?
  11. I don't think it matters which country it's from :whistling:
  12. Quite a few zeds covering several decades in that lineup, interesting
  13. Cheere mate yeah I believe 'monster' had two fitted where the smic's used to be due to the fmic that was fitted I'm going to switch front bumpers on the shortie' and was thinking of running the Arc oil cooler along the top of the greddy fmic and was considering fitting an additional larger Calsonic in the stock oil cooler position, ready for when I fit the new engine. I just figure that I should make allowances for a second cooler early on, should it be required later on down the line
  14. Yeah right.......I suppose it's all photoshop'd......oh:crying:
  15. As title really If I remember correctly 'Monster' used to run a twin oil cooler setup on his 600bhp track zed, but at what stage would running a twin oil cooler setup be appropriate? Assuming a road going car that's driven hard at several track days per year muchas gracias, por favor
  16. Personally I don't see it mate?
  17. Possibly the best looking kit I've seen on a zed, though I think a bit of photo shopping has taken place there It's as close to a JGTC kit that I've seen
  18. Still liking it sorry bud I'd be tempted to work the rear so that it's got an open back truck/Ute look about it and obviously looking like that...well you'ld need to be pushing 1400+ bhp badass!
  19. Strangely, I like that.....the second pic obviously, not the one made out of painted cardboard boxes There's something about it :punk: cheers bud
  20. By all accounts she's had this problem for over 18 months now, and nobody yet has managed to sort it if it's the same as above then it should be an easy fix....and she'll just have to drive her Pug 206 with a homemade 'fixed by 300zx.co.uk' sticker in the back window
  21. You may have just solved a problem that my mates mrs has been having with the wipers on her 206, ok it's not a zed but the symptoms are exactly the same, we'll give that a go tomorrow I reckon
  22. Gotta' love the old yank tanks, stunning sounding motors
  23. That'll be the Artist Rifles (now 21 SAS/Newport) that you're talking about there I think mate? Though not 100% on the TA history and not really spamming the thread mate, just figured that there's only so much slating of Top Gear that we can fit on the several Top Gear Christmas special threads that have been started Merry Crimbo'
