Please note that my previous post above was an ASSUMPTION, not a fact. I have no idea if there's an Items Wanted forum to come, there's been no discussion on it. I meant that maybe it was separated from the For Sale forum a while ago, so it USED to be live and now isn't, but Andy, being an Admin can still see it.... I don't honestly know. This is all supposition on my part and could be completely incorrect....

This happened to us once, starting at 6am on a Saturday morning! Leapt out of bad as no one rings at that time without it being a problem, to find dead air. It then happened almost every half hour until about midday when I rang BT and got the Choose to Refuse set up (costs after a month, I think...) Then, I think as pure happenstance, I answered the phone and it was some double-glazing company trying to sell DG. They confirmed that they have a system which rings random numbers and if an agent is free, will put the ringing number through. If not, the householder answers to get dead air. Most annoying.

Darn... Ok, well at the moment there is a loophole in the law which means that you do not have to sign the NIP. By all means fill it in, DON'T sign and send it back. It will be sent back to you for signing. You can either then completely ignore it or write them a letter asking under what jurisdiction they are requesting you to incriminate yourself. They will no doubt send back a letter stating a court case Something V Brown, I think, which has nothing to do with not signing a NIP. I have a website back at home on my laptop that goes into this with more detail. When I get home tomorrow night, I'll post it up for you to have a look. First thing is to get the photo and make sure it's you. 40 in a 30...looking at about 3-6 points and around a £60 fine.

Did the NiP arrive within 14 days of the offence? If it did, then there's that argument out of the window, but either way, you are still entitled to ask for photographic evidence. There is currently a loophole in the law which means that you do NOT have to sign the NIP. The photographic evidence proves whether it was your car. My brother got one through for a Rover 620 whose number plate was X662 XXX and my brother's Celica was X626 XXX. The photos proved it wasn't his car. You *can* claim that you can't remember who was driving but only if there really is doubt. Otherwise you end up in a worse mess. What speeds are we talking about here?
