Jeff...I can't say for what went on before. I *can* say that if I see threads escalating into a war of words again, I will lock that one...and the next one...and the next one, until we reach a state where this forum can have a story like "Garage X did such and such and I'm unhappy" without the braying of hounds. Vinz has an issue with you, that much is plain. But is slanging him off on a public forum really the way to go to promote your professional image? Would that not put off some newbies thinking that if they *do* take their car to you and it goes wrong, that you'll be all over this forum calling them names and dragging their personal financial information out for all to see? Vinz is as entitled to his opinion as you are yours. He is also entitled to voice that opinion as you are yours. People do have a right to know that things have gone wrong. However, they have a right to know the FACTS, not name calling or supposition. Slanging matches are what is dragging this board down. If you have an issue with someone, I suggest you mail it privately. If you had a problem with Vinz and his comments in the past, there was always a "Report to Moderator" link - this can be used by anyone. Alternatively, take the higher ground and ignore it. Emotive posts are all well and good but they seem to escalate into 3 groups extremely quickly : 1) Jeff does useless work and I'd never use him 2) Jeff does stirling work and I'd never use anyone else 3) Who cares?

Ok...first act of moderation...I'm locking this thread. Emotions are obviously still running high on this issue and verbal name calling isn't going to help either party and reflects badly on the forum. Jeff, Vinz, I suggest that if you have anything left to say to each other that it is in private. There are 3 sides to any story. Side A, Side B and the truth, which will be somewhere in between.

Firstly, is it an import? Some insurers won't touch those, preferring to stick with UK Spec. Is it over 10 years old? Firebond do a classic car policy. Is it a 2nd car or a main one - ie - limited mileage will bring down your insurance. Oh and welcome to the forum! :)

Yeah, I would like to do it all myself, but as I say, I don't live with the Zed and only get to see it every other weekend if I'm lucky. Then I'm usually so busy that it's not viable... Put it this way - in the 4 weekends that I've had the Zed and 1 week of taking it to work, I've done 1600 miles! My other car, that I've had for 18 months has 40K on it... However...I will endeavour to do it myself, even if it means wombling about with 2 titanium keys for a bit and remembering which key for which lock. :D
