Have you got a name for your car?
Mine very often gets called Shithead, generally when I'm trying to rectify a problem to make the car better as most jobs on the car are proving awkward & difficult! For example: the other day a couple of my dash bulbs had failed, so I thought I'd just remove the dash cover, reach round and change them. Easy? NO! Got one out, but then when pulling the 2nd one out the bulb fell out into the speedo unit! You Shithead!! Wasn't happy as I then had to remove the whole dam lot to split the unit and remove the bulb. A 10min job turned into a good hrs job.:hammer:

Too good to break!!
It all depends on your outlook really. We all know these cars are currently rock bottom prices. We know they are worth relatively nothing. I have a really good example, I have also spent thousands making it and keeping it that way. It is still worth relatively little. Do I care? No. These cars are unique, IMO special. They look great, go very well, getting very rare and are nice to drive. If its all about money, then the 300zx is the wrong car. Its a car to buy and own because you want one, not because its all you can afford. Because if its all you can afford you are going to struggle to keep them good and something like a head gasket replacement is going to mean selling as spares or repair! I know for a fact that my car is worth more in spares than a complete car, but I wouldn't break it.

Looking for manchester zx specialists.
Bang on! Phil is a very good Zed mechanic and I have used him 3 times now and each time been very happy with the work he as done. The last job he did for me was an auto/manual conversion which was done spot on. He used to own one as well, knows the mechanics of the car very well and has even done some reshells and engine rebuilds.

how many daily drivers are there?
I use mine only when I want to, that is when the weather is good. It does not see any salty roads and very rarely a wet road. And it doesn't do any chores, shopping or other. I have a little run about and a work Van for everything else. Probably

Help needed bottoming shakey steering under braking.
Is it possible that a warped rear disc could cause a slight shake thru the steering wheel due to the diagonal braking setup cars operate under. If you know what I mean. If a rear disc is warped, the rear pistons will be pulsing and this might feed back to the opposite front caliper because of the fluid movement. I don't know, just a possibility? I don't have any spacers on the car BTW.

Help needed bottoming shakey steering under braking.
Hi Guys, this is a fairly common problem on these cars. I have a light steering wheel shake under braking. It occurs at any speed and under any load of braking. It seems more noticable under light braking at around 30/40mph. Had this problem on/off since buying the car. I have changed:- The rack bushes ARB bushes Droplinks Tension rod bushes (new OEM's) Brakes (brand new K-sport 330mm kit) Track rod ends. Took my car to a garage this morning who put the car on shaker plates, but couldn't find any play said suspension was all ok. Put the car on the brake rollers and said was a slight inbalance, but the rears were worse. He suggested getting the discs skimmed on the car, but I'm not convinced, its a brand new top quality kit, shouldn't have to do that. My wheels are correctly torqued and balanced. Like I said, this wobble has been on/off since buying the car 3 years ago, would like to get it sorted. Just feel the shaker plates weren't thrashing the suspension enough to show up this problem and the mechanic wasn't overly bothered, just passing it off as a brake problem. Any suggestions welcome.:)

SWB Boot Courtesy Light?
The real answer is that the SWB model is the base model, bottom of the range, the Popular plus as apposed to the Ghia X LWB!!:whistling::winkiss::lol: In all seriousness though, what a strange feature to not fit to the SWB. Really surprised by that one.

Hicas removal, whats needed?
Yes, get some heat on it, I am always shocked by the way a bit of heat seems to do the trick. Had some really siezed nuts a few weeks back, wouldn't budge, in danger of rounding off. Got the blow lamp out, dink, job done!

Winter on its way
Absolutely respect the car and never prat about in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear when the roads are frosty. If the roads are really icy the car will spin in 4th so really just be gently with the throttle thru out the winter.

How to restore a damaged Steering Wheel?
Unfortunately many look like they've been chewed by a dog these days. I have a very good one, but its still not perfect so I'd be happy to read any suggestions as well. I think some people let a leather trimmer fit a cover to them.

suspension change or passenger swap ?
Nothing wrong with the OEM setup. The car still handles great. BUT it must be in good condition or it will feel like crap. Many a 300zx will be running round on very tired soggy suspension and people judge them like that! Fitting brand new/good OEM springs and shocks is not a downgrade! Each to their own and that. If I were you, I'd swap for OEM shocks and standard springs (or mildly lowered if you must). Its plenty firm enough and low stock. I have a new OEM setup, well couple of 1000 miles now, but just come back from the Lakes this weekend and the car performed perfectly, the suspension was excellent with just the right blend of handling and comfort.

Andyz
I've personally had parts from him that have been described wrong, specifically the condition. I have given him the benefit of the doubt, but recently ordered an other Zed spare described as excellent condition and I'm going to bin it -say no more. In my experience he describes things to be much better than they are. My last item was utter crap. I won't be using again.:(

My new ride.....
Very nice. Love the 911. If I won the lottery, I'd by the latest 911 turbo (3.8 turbo/500bhp/4WD):D:bow:

And it was Mr Clarkson testing the 997 911 turbo that stated it could do 50-70mph in 1second!!! FFS!

Imagine: A special edition Z32 is getting released next week....
Might sound odd, but I would like the whole car to be rebuilt top to bottom using the same basic formula, but everything to be revised with the latest tech offerings. So New tech tubs and engine parts New large brakes with modern ABS, traction control, ESP etc. Nice expensive 18/19inch alloys. Same chassis design, but built with latest and strongest materials to make super light and super rigid. Keep the interior pretty normal, just fit with more bespoke materials and chunkier seats. Car must retain stock 99spec look with 18/19inch wheels. Not alot then!:hang:

350Z better than a 370Z?
Really like the 370Z, but don't care much for the 350Z, although in the right colour, trim and extras can look excellent.

Best offsets set-up?
30 sits better than 35. A good look with a 8.5inch wide wheel is ET20. Only problem with aggressive offsets is the risk of scuffing the alloys is much higher, the crap from the road gets sprayed up in the wrong places and some stones directly hit the metal lip on the arches leading to faster rusting. Also using spacers does increase the load on the wheel bearings. Each to their own and all. I agree the OEM offset is pants, but I've gone for a less aggressive offset for the reasons above.
